My friends and I just stayed here this past weekend and were very impressed by this property. Amazing views, very comfortable sleeping arrangements and a well stocked kitchen for all of our cooking needs. We definitely wished we could have stayed longer, I feel as though we were just settling in when it was time to go. It is great to have the kitchen, dining and living area all open so everyone can be together! Be sure and wake up in time to the see the sunrise, it is breathtaking.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

This house was the PERFECT house for my soon-to-be Husband's Surprise Birthday Celebration. I could not believe how well stocked the kitchen was, and we left quite a few things for others as well. The decor was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for anything more. We spent a lot of time playing pool, sitting on 1 of about 4 different decks, and space was definitely not an issue. The beds were amazing, not like most beds at rental properties and the bathrooms were gorgeous with high-end fixtures and a double-head shower in the upstairs master. Much to my surprise... he was the one that surprised me by proposing in from of our family right there in the diningroom! We have wonderful memories in that house, and I hope others will choose to stay there as well. My only warning to you (which is not in the owner's control, and is part of the location) is the drive! Bear Lane is a very winding road and can make you feel like those 2 miles are actually 20... but once you arrive... the drive is SO worth it. Just make sure you stop at the store before you come, bring everything with you because its not easy to go up and down the mountain. Again, we couldn't be happier and the owner, Allen, was a JOY to work with! :)Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We have stayed at A Snow Fort on numerous occasions and have always had a fabulous time! The house is perfectly appointed with everything you need for a great weekend. I have to mention the quality of the mattresses on all the beds, because when I go away, comfort while sleeping is my number one priority (If I can't sleep in a comfortable bed, I may as well camp -- um, no thanks!). So often with rentals you get lumpy or old mattresses, but the mattresses on all the beds at A Snow Fort are as comfortable as my bed at home. As far as the location of the house, it is perfectly situated for access to everything in the area. Both days we went to nearby Morganton State park to swim, and we also parked on the side of the road in and walked down to the lake with our dogs to swim. Every time we go up there we find new things to do, from hiking to tubing to boating to visiting a local orchard -- and they are all just a short drive from A Snow Fort.On our next trip we will be checking out the nearby zipline! But it is almost as much fun just hanging out at the house, since it has everything people of all ages would want. We love having the hot tub available as well as the grill and large screen/DVD player. After a long day outside, we prefer to stay in during the evenings, so having the above makes for a perfect end to the days. And every morning we get a great work out by walking around the loop within the gates of the community. Finally, the owner was very responsive the to times we called him:once during a storm, when the power went out, and once when we accidentally set the alarm off. All in all, this is the perfect weekend spot for any season, and being under a 2 hour drive from Atlanta, we can enjoy all of Sunday before (regrettably) having to head home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Pictures, views and decor are nice, but when we arrived the hot tub was not ready because last guests had thrown up in it. Also there were beer cans still strewn about the property. Bedsheets had tears and towels were worn out, stained and raggedy. Also the 4th bedroom is awkwardly small and really a sunroom with 2 glass doors with no access to a bathroom since it is right next to loft. Kitchen was also missing or had broken appliances, and we were only supplied with 2 rolls of toilet paper and 2 trash bags although we were a large family staying 5 days. We called owner to report such but he was not responsive. Finally, be careful on 2.5 mile 1 lane road to property that is unpaved and winds around mountains- you definitely don't want to get caught on this road after dark.Owner response: I have had nothing but rave reviews of the property for the last 6 years. Each issue is addressed in the following response. #1:The renters arrived prior to the standard check-in time and the cleaning staff was still at the cabin. There was something in the hot tub after the previous check-out but it appeared to be spilled food and not throw up.The cleaning staff always dumps, cleans, & replaces the water after EVERY check out.The day prior to the current guests check-in the cleaning staff dumped it, cleaned it, and refilled it and actually purchased a brand new filter. When the guests arrived at their EARLY check-in the cleaning staff was installing the new filter & dumping & refilling the tub for a 2nd time & the guests were very rude to the cleaning staff wanting to know what they were doing there. The cleaning staff explained what they were doing which is the reason why they knew the hot tub was dirty in the first place. Instead of seeing a pristine hot tub, twice cleaned, with new filters she dwelled on the fact it used to be dirty.#2: I arrived at the cabin 2 days after their check-out to do yard work. There were 2 beer cans in the woods. The cleaning staff tries to walk the 3 acre property but sometimes things are missed. #3: Bedsheets are 2 months old & high thread count. There are 32 bath & hand towels.I noticed ONE towel during my yard work visit this week that was stained from bleach and it was thrown out. I found no torn linens. #4: The property is advertised as a 4 bedroom/3 bath. Where she got the idea of a private bath for the 4th bedroom is beyond me. Please read the property description. It clearly states 4 bedrooms, a loft, & 3 bathrooms. #5: The kitchen is FULLY if not OVER-stocked w/ every appliance, dish, and cookware someone would need in order to cook a huge meal. Nothing is broken. Again, I have never had a complaint about the cabin. #6. I meet if not exceed the standard for supplies. I supply 2 garbage bags, 1-2 rolls of toilet paper for each bathroom, & 1-2 rolls of paper towels. It is clearly stated in the rental agreement as such. I assure you there were no less than this amount in the cabin. #7: There was a message from her on my office voicemail which she left on a weekend even though my cell phone was provided to her as the number to call. I encourage all renters to use my cell phone. I would have answered her call. #8: It is a well-maintained National Forest Service road & no one has ever complained about it.

My family and some friends stayed here in June and loved this property! We frequent Blue Ridge about twice a year and have always stayed in the same cabin and decided to tryout another location and I am glad we did! Ten adults had plenty of room to lounge, sleep and eat. Great kitchen layout allows for the people cooking to be part of the group that is lounging in the living room and the dining room. We walked down to the lake "bout a mile walk" and did a little fishing and swimming, watched DirecTV when it rained "they got the good channels!" and overall just enjoyed the view, seclusion and Blue Ridge. For being a techie, enjoyed the Bose speakers to hookup the 'ol ipod too!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was our second time to stay at A Snow Fort during spring break and it was truly special. The drive to the cabin winds around Lake Blue Ridge and you can feel the stress melt away as you travel deep into the forest. The cabin has breathtaking views of the mountains - we sat on the deck each night with a glass of wine watching the stars. The sunrises over the mountains are amazing. The cabin itself leaves nothing to be desired and is warm and inviting. We especially enjoyed having the downstairs space for the kids. While in Blue Ridge we enjoyed many nearby hikes, fishing and visits to town for fudge and ice cream. This was truly a special break from the everyday grind. Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

I have stayed at this lovely cabin more than once and I cannot say enough for how perfect it is. The decor is "mountainy" without being overly country or heavily themed. From the moment I stepped inside the first time, it said "relax and enjoy...feel pampered". The floorplan/layout is wonderful for large families/groups, with bedrooms spread out, and even a rec room downstairs in the walkout "basement" level (I put that in quotation because it is not at all "basementy" :) Huge multi level decks provide a breathtaking view. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious, and coupled with the large dining table, can accommodate many for dining. But the most notable thing, to me, is the "feel" of the place - it is BETTER than home away from home (it feels like home, only better!). It is without a doubt the BEST mountain cabin I have ever been in...and I grew up in the Asheville, in the mountains of WNC so I have been in many mountain vacation homes! Beyond that, it is the best vacation rental I have stayed in, in terms of the thoughtfulness of the owner and attention to details. Stay here...You will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My sisters and I have vacationed in Blue Ridge with our families every year since 2004. "A Snow Fort" is, by far, the best cabin we have rented. The spacious kitchen/dinning/living room area was perfect for our large family meals and games. When it was time, we sent the kids downstairs to the TV/play room where they were happy and occupied for hours. The cabin's large open spaces are ideal for large groups of friends and family to come together. At the same time, the cabin has several secluded spaces to get away from it all and relax. My favorite is the screened in porch off the master bedroom. With rocking chairs, a sky chair and a day-bed; it is perfect for reading & escaping for some private time. I felt like I was alone in the tree tops. A perfect mix of relaxation and outdoor activities kept the kids AND husbands happy and asking when we were coming back. If you are there in the fall, book a Santa Train ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Rail-Way (the pictures are priceless). Summer - check out the pontoon rentals. This cabin doesn't feel like the typical "rental" - It feels like a home with all the amenities your family expects. We look forward to making more family memories at "A Snow Fort."Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just finished a long weekend at A Snow Fort and it was absolutely perfect! The views are incredible - so peaceful and relaxing! The "cabin" is a large beautiful home with all the amenities that you could hope for and more. You get the feeling of rustic mountain charm in a modern well maintained home. The owner was especially nice and helpful. The surrounding area offers lots of outdoors activities, as well as historic downtown Blue Ridge. But I was delighted to just spend a relaxing weekend on the deck overlooking the lake and the mountains!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We absolutely love visiting the Snow Fort. We have stayed there numerous times and frequently check the calendar for availability in hopes the schedule allows more time there. The Snow Fort is just as it is described - beautiful vistas, tastefully decorated and more than adequately supplied in the kitchen and all other areas. We have a large family that easily fits in this beautiful home with everyone having plenty of room and privacy. The children (and adults) love the game room, the many activities available in the area, and access to and from the cabin is through a beautiful section of forestry land around the lake. The drive in itself is worth a visit as we often spot deer and other wildlife in the mountains. We highly recommend the Snow Fort to anyone looking for a location that provides for a peaceful stay in nature as well as the opportunities to be as active as you choose. All in all an excellent cabin in a beautiful location. Can't wait to go back again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We've stayed at A Snow Fort several times....So easy from Atlanta, and the perfect mental "break". Easy ride into town, but total privacy. We've also come with larger groups, and everyone has their space. Very nicely appointed, including kitchen utensils you can actually use! (Can't say the same about other places we've rented in the past). Highly recommend.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The breathtaking photos of this home so accurately describe this beautiful dream sanctuary. The setting could not be more peaceful and the views will fill your senses with the glory of nature from mountain vistas and the gorgeous lake to the sounds of native birds and wildlife. The owner has furnished this vacation home with every imaginable feature to provide an ideal respite from the busy world to an oasis of serenity in the North Georgia Mountains. Surrounding areas provide any leisure activity you might want to do ranging from strolling and shopping in the lovely town of Blue Ridge to the adventuresome trails and water activities. If you are looking for quiet time or lots of activity you have it all at the Snow Fort. My husband enjoys it so much he is constantly checking availability! I highly recommend visiting the Snow Fort during any season, we have and we love it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I were looking for a place to get away for the Holidays, something different from the usual palm trees & 80 degrees that we've experienced in South Florida for the last 18 years. We found it surfing the net. "A Snow Fort" is exactly what we wanted. It was spacious enough for the 14 of us,it was clean and well furnished and the kitchen was amazing! We loved the roaring fire, the downstairs play room and the comfortable beds. Being "City Slickers" the road to the cabin was a bit daunting but by the end of our stay we were pros at navigating the steep, narrow slopes. The gated entrance, alarm system and friendliness of everyone we encountered on the mountain gave us a great sense of security. I look forward to vacationing there again soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners.
