This truly is a "CHARMING COTTAGE". Everything was perfect. The location could not have been any better. We walked just about every where. The neighborhood was quiet and very secure. We lacked for nothing in the cottage. It was extremely clean (this from a professional house cleaner). I will be recommending this cottage to everyone going to Monterey CA..

We had a great weekend at this homey cottage in Pacific Grove. The location is perfect. The street is super quiet but it's walking distance to both Lover's Point Park as well as Passion Fish and the restaurants on Lighthouse Ave. Please don't be put off by the one bad reviewer from Tuscon. We found the cottage clean, comfortable and in good shape. The bed was firm, the couch was comfy and the kitchen was well equipped with all the pots, knives and utensils in good condition. We will be back again.

This is a romantic hideaway in a beautiful part of California. The rooms are spacious, the kitchen is well equipped, but with so many great restaurants in the area and the wonderful seafood didn't really want to cook. It is a quiet neighborhood and safe. We had a great time!

There are so many things wrong with this place that I don't know where to begin. Major problems include mold in the shower pan, electrical outlets in kitchen that don't work, (reported to owner who never did anything include call back) duvet cover smells, bathroom sink does not drain, (used plunger daily) and dirty carpets (owner wants you to take off your shoes.) Other problems - toilet placed so a tall person couldn't sit, oven caked with food, hair dryer didn't work, shades were dirty and there was only one mirror over the bathroom sink. You have no recourse and the owner didn't seem to care. We've stayed at quite a few VRBO's and definitely this was the worst. If this review does not appear, VRBO lets owners edit or choose which reviews they want.
Owner response:Issues mentioned in this review were either fixed or unfixable like the toilet location, or the number of mirrors in the bathroom, as there is no room to add any more mirrors, there is a 3ft medicine cabinet with mirrors. Broken hairdryer was replaced. I have a very good track record of caring for my property and my guests. The rest of the reviews attest to the quality of the cottage and my prompt response to my guests.

Had a great stay, close to everything but far enough to get away from the madness - the location was great. The cottage itself met all my expectations, everything was in great shape. Thanks again!

We enjoyed the week here, the beautiful walk to Cannery Row and Aquarium along the waterfront, close to beautiful beaches at Asilomar, and a couple blocks to Pacific Grove downtown. The home is well maintained, cozy and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for cooking. Mark was very responsive with our short notice to stay in less than a week, Thanks. We will definitely look to stay here when we visit Monterey again.

All in all, a good experience. The interior is modern, with excellent appliances and a heating system that not only works but is simple to operate. The location is tops - easy walk to town or to beach and bayside walking trail. Mark, the owner, was very responsive to questions - never had to wait long for an answer. The only minus point is the exterior, which is badly in need of a coat of paint - but then we lived inside, which was fine.

Don't let the exterior of this adorable and historical cottage fool you. The inside of this cottage has been beautifully remodeled. Loved the spacious and updated kitchen. Location could not be better - within walking distance to downtown PG and Monterey Bay. It was nice to have such a comfortable cottage to come home to after a day of exploring the Monterey Pennisula.

I just spent a week in this wonderfully inviting cottage. It is beautifully renovated, comfortable, pretty, and filled with afternoon sun. There's a very small front porch which is perfect for early morning coffee. Quiet street, close to everything. Communication with Mark always received a quick, friendly response. Highly recommended!

We stayed in the cottage for one lovely week (last week of January). The location was perfect. A lovely stroll to the Aquarium past Lover's Point and a beach full of seals. Just a hop skip and a jump to Carmel, Big Sur etc. We also loved just wandering around Pacific Grove looking at the other cottages. Our favourite restaurant was the Red House which was just around the corner. The cottage was absolutely perfect for our needs. We traveled with our 18 month old daughter. Lots of room in the master bedroom for a pack and play leaving us to enjoy a movie and a glass of wine after she went to bed. The washer/dryer/dishwasher were much appreciated. The play park around the corner was great.

Our family enjoyed a lovely vacation at this rental home. It was clean and generally kid-friendly for our 3 children: 8, 6, & 3. We loved the fact that it was located just a couple blocks from the beach an easy & short walk. The owner was very prompt with his responses to any questions and/or needs via email. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Monterey/Pacific Grove!

We spent 4 blissful nights in this delightful Victorian beach cottage. Pacific Grove is blessed with many such historic properties, and this one was beautifully renovated and very comfortable. The town is an excellent alternative to Monterey, being quieter and less "touristy". PG also has some great restaurants (don't miss eating at Passionfish, one of the best on the coast). Thank you, Mark, for sharing your little bit of heaven!!

The cottage is great very central to downtown Pacific Grove. We stayed 3 nights with our 18- month-old. Not only is the cottage walking distance from Lover's Point, it's also about two short blocks from a great little playground. We ate in two nights but our last night there, a relative who lives in the area came and babysat so we could enjoy an adult meal at Passionfish. The meal was suberb, highly recommended. I definitely recommend this cottage especially if you have a small child.

We had a lovely stay for a week in Mark's cottage. The location was great - just a few block walk to the beach or restaraunts. Lovely neighborhood (and a cute playground just around the corner for restless kids). Furnishings were comfortable - nice to have satelite TV and DVD player. Definitely recommend!

We stayed 2 nights with our children, ages 2 and 5, and had a lovely time. The cottage was clean, comfortable and functional (we really utilized the wireless connection plus the washer & dryer!) and the location is unbeatable. There's a great park & playground within very short walking distance that my daughters really enjoyed. A great experience all-around, from making the arrangements with ease (thank you, Mark!) to the relaxing stay itself. Highly recommend!

I'm hesitant to leave positive comments for fear of this cottage becoming too popular! Quiet neighborhood, comfortable furnishings, and great location make this a wonderful alternative to staying in a hotel. Have breakfast at Toasties and margaritas at Pepper's, both nearby. Yum!

Dear Mark, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Your Pacific Grove cottage is very cozy and comfortable. It was great to be so close to a playground, Lover's Point Beach and about a 20 minute walk to the Aquarium along the bike/walking trail. We also enjoyed the proximity to local cafes and restaurants. Our five-year old son said that he was going to "miss our little house". We will definetly consider renting your cottage again on our next trip to the Monterey area.

Our family spent three nights in this charming Pacific Grove home. Communications with the owner prior to the trip were always professional, and included timely reponses to our questions. The house itself had rustic, historic charm from the outside; the inside was modern and had everything one needs to ensure a comfortable stay. What we appreciated most was the location. We were within walking or biking distance to nearly everything we wanted to see, which was wonderful. We were all delighted to have found such a perfect get-away home and will, most certainly, put it on top of the list of options when we come this way down the road.

It's a lovely cottage with everything needed for a small family. Pacific Grove downtown with a lot of coffee/breakfast/dinner places is a 5-minute walk away. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk to Monterey Bay Aquarium. The part we liked the most was the walking/bike track which starts at Lover's point (5-minute walk from the cottage), and goes right by the ocean, all the way to the aquarium and beyond (to the town of Seaside?). This track is excellent for an early morning or post-dinner walk/jog, especially in summer.
