You will be master of this wonderful "cottage," built in 1928 in a grand style, right on Green Bay (within 40 feet of the water), just over a mile from Fish Creek's services and quaint village charms. "Midwest Living" recently chose Fish Creek as the #1 destination in the entire Midwest.
Although in the center of the resort area of beautiful Door County, this estate's ten acres of woods and shoreline bring it a quiet, relaxed seclusion far away from any seasonal commotion. It is one of a number of early twentieth century estates in a shore-side summer colony dubbed "millionaire's row," that you will enjoy biking or walking past to town.
So relax, cast off your shoes and worries, and take in the sparkling waters and sun-dappled woods from the hammock. Reconnect with your family and friends, a strong tradition at this house!
The house retains the atmosphere of an earlier, grander era, but has been updated in important ways for comfort. The 16 by 22 sunken living room has a large wood burning fireplace and a grand piano; the dining room seats ten comfortably. The big, well-appointed kitchen includes a butler's pantry and breakfast room. Many rooms have a splendid water view. Two bedrooms have queens; two have twins. All three upstairs bathrooms have tub/showers. Naturally air-conditioned by water, woods and bluff (bring sweaters as well as your swimsuits). The house sleeps a maximum of eight people (and yes, children and infants count too)and is nearly 4,000 sq. ft. We will be happy to send a floor plan and pictures of additional rooms when you inquire.
In the morning, walk in the woods or on the beach, watching for wild turkeys, deer, pileated woodpeckers, hummingbirds, ravens, gulls and pelicans. If you kayak, we have a great place to set off exploring the gorgeous Peninsula Park shoreline from Egg Harbor to Ephraim and nearby islands. Enjoy the spectacular sunsets over the bay from the flagstone terraces or screened porch. At night, study the stars - and sometimes even Northern lights - from the large water's-edge terrace or pier, without city lights to dim the dazzling show, and then fall asleep to the sound of the Green Bay waves.
We regret that we cannot permit any pets on the property at any time. And there is no smoking in the house.
Activities (on site or nearby): sunbathing, swimming, fishing, hiking, tennis, a variety of golf courses, fabulous art galleries and shopping, restaurants, summer theater, museums and house museums, sightseeing, boat rental, fitness center, nature watching, farmers' market, many festivals and concerts, Peninsula State Park w/in two miles with bike paths, nature programs. There are too many other possibilities to list! Send for our Fact Sheet for details and more photos.
