This cottage was everything we needed in a vacation rental. Our son was 20 months old at the time of our stay and the house not only had a few books and toys, but there was also baby shampoo and a first aid kit made accessible just in case. We enjoyed the outdoor playground and covered pavilion for rainy afternoons. We were able to bring our laptop and use the WiFi at the Bear Paw clubhouse to check email and search directions for area attractions we wished to visit. Blue Shutter is also very close (within 2 minutes walking distance) to the playground and clubhouse which again made it convenient when doing things with a toddler. We stayed busy during our vacation enjoying all the area had to offer. There was a Sorghum Festival and parade in Blairsville, Ga (about a 30 minute drive), we picked apples in Blue Ridge, shopped downtown Murphy's bargain deals (great shops as well as flea markets) and hiked the River Walk Trail at the park in Murphy. We also experienced the Lost Sea Adventure in Sweetwater, TN (between Knoxville and Chattanooga). For great local dining there was Murphy's Chophouse, Doyle's Cedar Hill Restaurant and you would regret missing out on Rib Country's excellent Barbecue. Everyone we dealt with was helpful and nice. Although there are may lots in the Bear paw community, it was quiet with a laid back atmosphere. The marina and mountain views offered gorgeous scenery during morning runs or while driving around and scouting places for great family pictures. We loved and enjoyed every bit of our stay and have already mentioned it to friends and family members. Looking forward to our next trip! -Mountainless in Florida

We absolutely loved this cottage. It is clean and and equipped with everything anyone could need. The bed is so comfortable! We had fun finding all the lady bugs, some of them were well hidden. This is a great place to get away from the rush of life and enjoy quiet days and dark nights. Highly recommended.

We picked this place for a last minute weekend getaway and had a wonderful time. The listing, pictures, and description were all as it was portrayed. The cottage was very clean. We had a peaceful and relaxing weekend. It was located back off of the main road into the resort and I was worried when we first got there that it would be noisy. We didn't hear anything from other guests, cars, etc. It was very quiet. We enjoyed the pool by day and played some of the board games that were there in the evening. We grilled out, ate meals on the front porch and watched the chipmunks play. There was very sporadic cell phone service, but that was ok. It was actually nice to take a weekend with no phone and no internet. : )
Owner response:We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at Blue Shutter Cottage! We agree completely about slowing down and taking a weekend off from all of our instant communication devices. That's what we like to do when we go to Bear Paw! However, for those that prefer to stay connected, please note that the cottage has a land line phone with free, unlimited long distance service and Internet access is available 24/7 at the clubhouse and pavilion right across the street. Thanks again for choosing our home for your weekend getaway. We'll look forward to your next stay! --Callie & Philip

We have now stayed at the lovely Blue Shutter Cottage in Bear Paw Resort near Murphy N.C. a total of 3 times. It is our favorite place to stay when we go there for our family reunions. The cottage is so clean and cute you will want to move right in. We love the screened porch and the oh so comfortable king-size bed. The owners have been fantastic people to work with and we look forward to many more stays in their cottage.

Such a comfortable cottage to relax in. VERY PRIVATE, and yet a short walk to Bear Paw's awesome pool and other cottages (we had our family reunion in Bear Paw). The owners have thought of absolutely everything. The screened porch was my favorite aspect of this rental!

We just spent a week and the Blue Shutter Cottage and a week wasn't enough! The cottage was so beautiful and clean, it felt just like home! We spent most of our nights on the screened in porch and the days at the pool!! We plan on renting the cottage every time we are in NC. Thank you so much for the wonderful time we had!!!!

Our visit was terrific. The cabin was like new with every convenience you would want. All you really needed to bring was food and clothing. The two porches were wonderful. We sat outside in the screened in when it rained and outside mornings and night. The view is awesome. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly.

Blue Shutter Cottage is great for a weekend getaway! The bed is comfortable and there was even a grill available for our use. We loved sitting out on the screen porch in the evening. It's close to the pool too. We actually stayed in early fall of 2006, but I was online today checking availability for our next trip and thought I'd leave a note!
Owner response:Thanks Callie & Philip for your kind words! There's something about that porch that helps people relax. We always enjoy having guests return year after year, and we are glad you enjoyed your vist at the Blue Shutter Cottage. With best regards, Robert & Valerie

Looking for a great place for your next vacation? We found it here. The lake could not be any more beautiful, and the best thing was it was not crowded at all. We rented a boat for the weekend and had a great time skiing and exploring. The cabin was gorgeous, and had everything we could ask for. The Madison Family

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Shutter Cabin just last weekend and had a great time. It is the perfect get away spot for a quiet and relaxing vacation. I enjoyed its private location, and yet there are two great golf courses just 30 minuets away and my wife enjoyed all the antiquing at the quant nearby towns. We recommend it without reservation as it offers something for everyone. We’ll be back,John and Annie McPhersonNaples, Florida
