"Down By The Sea" is a $1.7M 5 bedroom & 4 bath Luxury Beach Home that includes 3 King Suites, complete accommodations for children, toddlers & babies, nice Gulf views from the 2nd & 3rd levels, a large heated Private Pool with a one-of-a-kind shallow kid’s play area (i.e. only 16" deep) that is perfect for toddlers and small children, 2 community pools, private beach access to Destin’s famous sugar white sand beaches, and is located in an exclusive gated Destin neighborhood just steps from the sugar white sand beach!
This home was custom built for 1 to 3 families (and their children) that desire a King Suite for each adult couple, 2 bedrooms for the kid's that each have 2 bunk bed sets, and a crib room and pack-and-play for up to 2 babies! One of the King Suites is even on the 1st Floor to accommodate the grandparents or anyone that may have trouble climbing stairs! We cater to families with small children and babies and we provide a full sized baby crib that resides in its own crib room inside the 2nf Floor Master Suite, a pack-and-play, high-chair, 2 toddler booster seats, baby walker, umbrella stroller, kid's pool/beach toys, and a special shallow kids pool area that is only 16 inches deep! Even though this home has 5 bedrooms, it is perfect for groups between 4 and 14, and we generally offer special discounts to smaller groups in the spring, late summer, fall and winter! Our home is also a short walk to 2 very fun family appropriate beach restaurants / beach bars that offer open air seating and beautiful views of the gulf and sand! Both are perfect for drinks, lunch or dinner. Additionally, there is a nice ice cream shop less than 1 minute from the back of our home that is a favorite destination for our kid's after dinner! Approximately 2 blocks to the east is a gourmet coffee shop that also serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and there is a great family style pizza parlor that has video games and a juke box! In addition to the local amenities within walking distance, we are less than a 5 minute drive to countless other restaurants, 2 shopping malls, movie theaters, grocery stores, amusement parks, golfing, fishing, etc.
The home boasts 4300 square feet of luxury living space including 900 square feet of private balconies. The home also offers spectacular views of the Gulf, is located approximately 100 yards from the private beach, and is a one-of-a-kind custom Mediterranean style home! For families with toddlers & babies, we provide a full sized baby crib that resides in its own baby room inside the Primary Master Suite. We also provide a pack-n-play, high-chair, 2 toddler booster seats, baby walker, umbrella stroller and kid's pool/beach toys free to charge!
The yard is truly an oasis and includes a large PRIVATE heated swimming pool (12'W x 24'L) PLUS a shallow kid’s pool area (7'W x 9'L) that is only 16" deep and is a perfect play area for toddlers and young kids! While the big kids swim at the deeper end of pool and the small kid’s splash in the shallow kid’s area, the adults can relax on the large pool deck that includes an table & chairs, chaise lounges, a gas grill, outdoor music speakers, & an outdoor shower for cleaning up after coming back from the beach!
The 1st FLOOR of the home boasts a fully stocked gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a spacious open floor plan that includes a large dining area that can accommodate up to 10 at a time, and a large living room that includes a large TV with Digital Cable, DVD and surround sound entertainment.
The 1st floor also includes a large King bedroom with attached bathroom and walk-in closet (This bedroom is perfect for our older residents or those that have trouble climbing stairs!). The 1st floor also includes a laundry room with washer, dryer and laundry sink, and a mud/beach room.
The 2ndD FLOOR boasts a HUGE primary Master Bedroom and Bathroom Suite that includes a king-size bed, a baby room with baby crib, private sitting area, TV/DVD/alarm clock, a private balcony with views of the Gulf and sunsets, double vanity sinks, a whirlpool tub, and a large stone and glass shower. The 2nd floor also includes two large kid’s bedrooms that each has two sets of bunk beds (8 beds total) and a built-in dresser and TV/VCR alcove, and an adjacent kid’s bathroom with double vanity sinks and a tub/shower.
The 3rd FLOOR boasts vaulted ceilings and is the home of the Tower Master Bedroom Suite that includes a king-size bed, TV/DVD/alarm clock, a private balcony with the most spectacular views of the Gulf and the sunset in the home. The bathroom includes a walk-in closet, double vanity sinks, a whirlpool tub, and a large stone and glass shower.

My wife and I built this home a few years ago for our family and we included many very nice upscale amenities that cannot generally be found in the typical "rental house" that is listed on the Internet. Because this is our private home we take GREAT care to insure that we only rent to nice families that help us look after the place, and WE CATER to families with young children, toddlers and babies since we have 3 young children ourselves, and we could never find such accommodations for ourselves when visiting Destin in the past. Unlike many of the homes that you will see online, our home is very well maintained and will always be clean when you arrive!
Additionally, you can be assured that it will look EXACTLY like it does in our photos! We have experienced first hand that it is possible to show up to your rental home only to be disappointed by the fact that the online pictures were old and the house had not been maintained - I can promise you that this will NOT happen with our home. The Unique Benefits of this House
As we mentioned above, my wife and I built this home a few years ago for our family and WE CATER to families with children, toddlers and babies since we have 3 young children ourselves, and we could never find such accommodations for ourselves when visiting Destin in the past. We are the only house in Destin (to our knowledge) that has 2 cribs, a highchair, toddler booster seats, stroller, baby walker, kid's pool and beach toys, AND a kiddie pool inside our private pool that is ONLY 16 inches deep and was custom designed to allow toddlers and young swimmers to enjoy our full sized heated private pool while the big kids and adults are enjoying the deeper end of the pool!
We have also built MANY other safety features into this home to help protect your children such as (1) Children's rooms do NOT have balcony access, (2) Dressers in the kid's rooms are built into the wall to keep from tipping, (3) The bedrooms upstairs are all carpeted, (4) The stairs are enclosed and have landings every few steps, (5) Kid's bathroom has the sink height lowered to be more kid friendly, (6) The DVD players are built into the TVs in the kids rooms, etc!
Unlike many of the homes that you will see online, our home is very well maintained and will always be clean when you arrive!

Our family of 4 met up with another family of 6 "Down by the Sea" and had a wonderful time. This place had everything our two families needed. The children were ages 3-15 so the multi level pool and the SHORT walk to the beach was fabulous! We cooked up some great meals in the kitchen and even used the BBQ. We enjoyed playing music through the outdoor speakers for the pool and there were enough games to occupy our kids for the one rainy day we stayed inside. We built and amazing sandcastle on the beach with your tools Thank You! We enjoyed a few meals just off the beach, there was a lot to chose from. Each couple had more than enough space and the kids had plenty of private bedroom space. The girls took turns sleeping in the tower room they dubbed the "Princess castle". Thank You Craig & Dodie for what we hope will be the first of many trips to Destin.

My family had a wonderful vacation at Down By The Sea. We didn't have to pack or rent all of the baby gear since everything we needed for our baby and toddler were already in the home: that made it so easy for us! When our little ones tired of the beach and were ready for naps it was great having the pool right in the yard to enjoy! The house was clean, well-stocked, comfortable and well-maintained. It was also close to all we wanted to do! We have stayed in hotels, condos and other homes in the area, and we were the most comfortable here. We will be coming back! The owners were very accommodating, took the time to answer all our questions and easy to work with. We received our security deposit back right away too!

This property was ideal for our family. We took our two children and their families on this trip. Each family had their own floor for privacy. Our grandchildren are three and under. Everything we needed for the kids was there waiting for us. Anyone with little ones knows how much easier this makes it. Safety features for the kids were also well thought out. The house looked just as pictured and was spotless and well maintained, as were the grounds. The private beach was a block's walk at the most. The pool was great, especially for the baby. The shallow end almost always had at least a little shade, which enabled her to spend lots of time in the pool without sunburning. The owners provided complete information about the house and area restaurants and attractions. That saved us time, energy, and simplified our decisions since we were unfamiliar with the area. We hope to stay there again in the future.

We had a great time at this spot! We decided to rent a house with a pool for our family vacation this season, and it turned out to be a great idea. This house had a wonderful lay out, beautiful pool, and easy walk to the beach. The rental experience was seamless and the owners were a great pleasure to deal with. We will most definitely rent again if available.

Wow, what a great time! We were a party of 3 families with 6 adults and 8 kids who fit in the house with room to spare. Each adult had their own personal suite and the kids each had a room according to their gender with the older child and friend having their own personal room/bathroom. The house was nicely stocked with bathroom and beach towels, along with plenty of kitchen dishes/pans/etc. The pool is a bit small, but worked well for us, though all pools in that area are on the small side. The beach is a very short walk from the house and was made easy with the use of a wagon found at the house. Our visit was very relaxing and we really enjoyed our stay. We can't wait to come back!
