A Historic Cottage (remodeled and modernized) in the woods of Corral de Tierra off Highway 68. In 1904 Spence Robley and his two sisters, Winnifred and Emma, homesteaded 150 acres in this secluded sunny valley. Fast forward to 1996 and relative, Beverly Hartnell, is maintaining the remaining 5 acres with her family. The Cottage has 3 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom plus sink in 3rd bedroom. 2 queen beds and 2 twin beds with a capacity for 6 guests. Baby in crib is no charge. There are views from the deck and 5 acres to wander with a treehouse and swing from the old oak tree. Feed the horses and chickens. Electric heat and wood stove for cool days. Average annual temperature is 70 degrees. Lots of brochures to read about places to see and things to do and events in the area for everyone. Only a short drive to practically any destination in the area. The cottage is in the country but only 15 minutes to town with restaurants, a grocery store and gas station nearby. The first morning we will provide muffins and eggs from resident chickens and coffee from the family owned coffee roastery. The property is 10 minutes to the Monterey Airport, 1 hour to the San Jose Airport and about 2 hours to the San Francisco Airport. The property is 2.5 miles from Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway and 10-20 minutes to the beach, historic Monerey, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Carmel Valley, etc. Come and stay for a memorable visit. You will want to eat at many great restaurants near by and in town. There is a good restaurant at the Tennis Club within walking distance. There is a corner market with a deli counter within a few miles. You can see and hear hawks, owls and other native birds. There are deer, cottontail rabbits and quail at this quiet and secluded tree covered property. Feel free to walk about the property. Go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, the Wharf, Concours de Elegance, Jazz Festival, Blues Festival, AT&T Golf Tournament, many auto, motorcycle, bicycle races at Laguna Seca Raceway, the Fair and much more. Go on the Path of History in Downtown Monterey, site of the first state capital and the homes of the first settlers on the Central Coast. See Steinbeck Center and Steinbeck House in Salinas. Walking, hiking, bicycling are nearby. There are many golf courses on the Monterey Peninsula. Walk or bike the Hiking Trail along the ocean from Marina to Pacific Grove. Go down the coast to world famous natural beauty of Big Sur, historic missions at San Juan Bautista and Carmel. Take the kids to the beach. Take Mom shopping in Carmel. Go ocean fishing, boat tours of the bay or whale watching. Sit on the deck with a glass of wine you bought from a local winery, take a wine tour or plan your own wine tour from the maps and brochures in the cottage.
