Located on Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula near Calumet, This smoke-free home/cottage is only 400 feet from the mouth of the Tobacco River and located on 230' of Lake Superior lakeshore. Approximately 15 miles from Lake Linden and Calumet. Nearest village is Gay. The views, breezes and waves are simply fantastic.
Home is located on the Gay/Lac LaBelle Road with easy access year round (available for rent all seasons). Peak periods are Memorial Day to Labor Day, and early-September to mid-October and Christmas to early March (snowmobile season).
This property has a spectacular view of the Lake from all the main living areas and bedrooms. The multi-level deck allows you to enjoy the summer breezes or the fall colors with family and friends.
Lower level features a heated garage great for storing the snowmobiles during the snowy winter nights. Also on the lower level is the laundry area, and one bedroom containing a double lower and single upper bunk bed (sleeps three). The other bunk sleeps two.
Upper level features beautiful red maple and cherry hardwood vaulted ceiling and open design from kitchen, dining and living room for great views of the lake and easy conversation. Master bedroom features a queen bed and 180 degree view of the lake. Bathroom is a full bath including bathtub and shower. DISH Network TV is included. Telephone is also included.
Exterior of property has children’s play set, picnic table and open yard down to the Lake edge. Property is slightly elevated from the lake enhancing the lake view, but requires a few steps down to the Lake.
The Tobacco River (about 400 feet away) is known as one of the best trout streams in the Keweenaw. Old restored pier 500 feet the other way brings back memories of old copper mining days gone by.

Alone in the Keweenaw

We had a great time during our stay. We had the whole area to ourselves. We used the outdoor firepit a couple of nights and it was just magnificent with the sun setting on Lake Superior. The property owners had a security gate we could put above the stairs which was perfect for our little girl who had just started walking. My husband loved the sauna. Communicating with the owners was pleasant and helpful. We like to be alone on vacation and this was a great time of year to be in the Keweenaw Peninsula! We had lunch at the Bete Grise Beach and had the place to ourselves. The drive to Copper Harbor was solitary and beautiful. We even stumbled upon a Jeep trail that was fun and thrilling. The people in Calumet were nice and talkative. The owner of the Bar right near the house was quite a character and pointed us to some interesting sites including an unique water source. All in all, a wonderful vacation in a wonderful location with wonderful accommodations! Can't wait to come here again!

A lovely, modern home on Lake Superior. Everything was provided. Our family came from many directions and everyone thought it was the ideal place. We would highly recommend renting from Mark and Jodi.

What a winter wonderland. We had great time snowmobiling. We received about 15 inches in 8-10 hours and what a beautiful site to have Lake Superior as a backdrop. This place exceded our expectations.

This is the second time I have rented from Mark and Jodi Raisenen, each time were different properties. I have been absolutely pleased both times. Although each home was entirely different from another, they were both exactly what was described and pictured. The lake and scenery are absolutely gorgeous. Obviously I was "in love" or I would not have been back within 6 months. Thank you Mark and Jodi for sharing your homes!!!

This is an awesome place, we LOVE the Hermit's Cove area and have been vacationing there for many years. I would highly recommend it !! There are very nice ATV trails on which to ride. You can ride all the way to Copper Harbor on logging roads and trails. A++ The Raisanens are top notch. THANK YOU for sharing your place.

Thank you so much for sharing your cottage. We had a great time. The views and privacy were better than we imagined. We didn't see a soul unless we went into town to eat. We enjoyed Quincy's restaurant in Dollar Bay. We'd recommend it. Also, enjoyed the Harbor House in Copper Harbor. Thanks again, for the fun vacation. P.S. It was relaxing to go to sleep with the sound of waves. It was also a pleasant surprise to catch local Chicago news (on your Dish) all the way up here in the U.P.

We had a fantastic time with our family. The deck was the perfect place to sit and visit while enjoying the soothing sounds of the waves. One day it rained all day, but it was just as nice to curl up on the couch and watch the stormy lake out any window we chose. Thanks again. We'll be back next year.
