Annapolis cottage description
1930s style cottage at water's edge, a leisurely sail up the scenic Magothy River just far enough off the bay to be in calm protected water. We are located on a secluded point in a small bay of the river behind a tall iron gate and a high native stone wall. The compound has over 900 ft on the river and has an interesting history. The cottage has just been completely renovated, new everything, but retains its quaint charm. Another slightly smaller 2br/1bth cottage is also available here at the same estate.
Youll have your own private deep-water pier, just 15 feet from your riverfront porch, with 30 amp marine electric service and water. We provide a motor pontoon boat, seats 6-8, for you to explore this big river and its miles of creeks. It's a 15 min cruise down to a typical waterfront crabshack; dock up and enjoy our famous Maryland bluecrabs. Or join us (no charge) on our 41 ketch for a sail on the river or the bay. A Hunter 31' sloop on the pier is available for bareboat charter.
Our home is here in the same compound, but secluded and out of your way. We're always available if you need anything. We make every effort to see you are comfortable and have a great vacation.
By car, Annapolis, with its Naval Academy, museums, historic waterfront, shops, and world-class restaurants is just 10-15 minutes away. BWI Airport is 20 minutes on fast expressway, Baltimore historic waterfront and major league sports are 20 minutes, and Washington, D.C. Capitol Hill is under an hour.
We hope to see you!

Wonderful in winter!
Wonderful in winter!
My husband was joining us from overseas for Christmas, and we had a lovely getaway here. We asked only for lots of wood to keep the roaring fire going, and Chuck delivered as promised. Our little son enjoyed the very friendly dog and feeding the ducks, as well as setting up his train tracks next to our little Christmas tree on the front porch. We were very cozy and happy here, and enjoyed the proximity to Whole Foods etc. for provisions.

Our family had a wonderful vacation at Birdhaven! Our son attended the Naval Academy LAX camp for two weeks and we could not have found a more perfect quant cottage "estate" to stay at! We enjoyed sailing, canoeing, swimming and many peaceful evenings right on the water! Our 9 year old son especially enjoyed sailing on the boats just steps away from our cottage. Chuck Beck, the owner of the estate shared some great history about the place and was always willing to go the extra miles to make us feel at home. Thank you!

Outstanding Chesapeake Bay!
Outstanding Chesapeake Bay!
My husband John and I booked this beautiful cottage for a week. The property was amazing - Chuck treated us spectacularly. We used the beautiful fireplace all week as it definitely cooled down - and used the Canoe and Pontoon Boat to check out the waterway right in front of the property. You can use this is a launching pad to Annapolis, Washington, Mt Vernon - or anywhere - it was always nice to come home to. Thank you Chuck - if we're back in your area we'll call you again for sure.

Our Perfect Vacation
Our Perfect Vacation
When my husband, myself and our three sons: 19, 17 & 12 arrived early Saturday morning to start our vacation at this location. As soon as we pulled into the driveway we were "HOME"! All 5 of us listed this vacation as one of our favorite location! Thanks to amazing guests at the other two rented homes, we had ourselves one for the books! We highly recommend all three homes Chuck and his wife have to offer, oh and I must not forget Bob from Dallas, they were extremely welcoming!! Thanks!!!!!

The most awesome holiday
The most awesome holiday
We rented the middle cottage for 4 weeks- and ended up staying 4 more... we could not leave.!!! The homes//cottages are so pleasant and homey- and chuck and ivelese make you a part of their family. The views on the river are awesome-sunrise-sunset0 close to baltimore and annapolis. -- the kayaks are great and the swimming hole. I love the Point restaurant! There are bikes to use- and helmets- and anything you an desire... I suggest you go -as you will get a slice of heaven!

In a last minute decision, our family chose the smaller of the two cottages at Bird Haven and we would do it again in a heartbeat! What a perfect place to spend time with family -- everything you see in the photos and read in the description of this villa property is true! Chuck is a wonderful host, making sure we had everything we needed from kayaks to pontoon boat to sailing time with him on the Chesapeake Bay. Our kids biked, fished and crabbed, boated and swam all the time! The cottage was very comfortable with the most popular space being the screened porch where we played board games and enjoyed the view of the river. Bird Haven really is a breathtaking spot on the Magothy River. You can relax every day on the river or take easy day trips to Annapolis, St. Michaels and Washington DC. We are considering renting the entire villa (main house and both cottages) for a larger family vacation. We have told all of our friends about it too! Thank you, Chuck, for such an enjoyable trip and for your warm hospitality!

My husband and I stayed in the smaller of the 2 waterfront cottages. 2 small bedrooms, and 1 bath in the 2nd bedroom. Adorable kitchen and living room. I loved the screened in front porch. Beautiful new gas grill with a pretty table to eat outside by. We loved it. Everything we needed. Owner was very nice and very helpful. (we arrived on the day of that major storm and power outage) He provided us with a generator that promptly worked the fridge and a/c for us. Power came back on the next day. We were grateful for that! The property is beautiful! You are directly on the water with wonderful views. It was nice to be close to the historical sites, and still return to our "home-base" of quietness on the river. Picture postcard pretty....I promise!

Memories & Healing
Memories & Healing
I rented this cottage in Sept 2008 for 2 weeks, my Mom and her best friend came down for a long weekend while I was there. The following August my Mom passed away unexpectedly, my Mom's best friend and I still talk about that trip and how wonderful and relaxing it was. I just wanted to thank you for the wondeful memories that your property provided for us, it has allowed the both of us to heal.

Quiet, cute and boats
Quiet, cute and boats
Comfy little cottage that sits on a quiet nook and cranny of the Magothy River. Hot a couple days, but the air conditioner was working well. We enjoyed bike rides on the rails-to-trails nearby, swimming in the river off the pontoon boat available for use, and quiet kayak paddles in the morning. Lots of places to explore, and plenty of convenient shopping if that's your thing (Rt 1 a mile away). This place has all the dishes and conveniences of home, with a nice fireplace and view of the river to boot. There is wireless internet and a gated entry; nothing feels like being the lord of your domain than closing a 12 ft high wrought iron gate! Check it out, enjoy the water and the peace. Bring binocs to watch the herons in the morning, the boats by day and have a drink or two at night.

My husband and I were looking for a nice, quiet, peaceful place to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. Boy, did we hit the jackpot! We stayed in the 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage at Bird Haven. The beauty and serenity were more than we ever expected. The cottage was clean and very comfortable, with great water views at every turn. Chuck, the owner, made us feel right at home and was most attentive to our needs. On a scale of 1 to 10, we gave this place a 20! As a matter of fact, we booked our next stay before we left for home.
