After 20 years of family vacations on Holiday Isle in Destin, our family made the decision to move east to a less crowded, more laid back location. This is when we discovered the Seagrove area and The Other Place. I can't say enough good things about our experience. The house was exactly what we needed and then some. The pictures don't do the house justice. Faye and Bill have done an excellent job of keeping things updated and clean. The space was perfect for our family of 11...the decks being the best part of the house. It was so nice to be able to just walk out the back door and a few steps to our set up on the beach. The biggest surprise of the week was Eastern Lake. We had read about the lake in other reviews, but were skeptical about how much we would actually use it. Well, the week we were there happened to be be a heavy seaweed week for the gulf, and the lake was fabulous. The kids spent all week hanging out there. It's safe, shallow and warm...perfect! We were there over the 4th. We went out to the beach and were able to see the fireworks from Seaside, and many other surrounding communitities...plus individual shooting them off on the beach. It was really wonderful! I think it's safe to say that we have found our new vacation home. Thanks Faye and Bill for sharing it with us!

We have been vacationing in various condos on Eastern Lake Road for 18 years. Our first time upon seeing this house, I said when we go as a family, I would like to stay in that house. This was the year for that trip. The house is beautiful and a great location. We enjoyed the large deck with it's amazing views! I can say it lived up to my expectations! Will definetly stay there again as a group...Thanks Faye!!!

Our family returns to "the Other Place" year after year and its always just as magical and beautiful as we remember! Faye's deck is the best place to be from sunrise to sunset... other than the beach! We start each day with coffee overlooking the lake and gulf as the sun rises. We cook here at the house and almost always eat out on the deck. The views are just heavenly. The owners are great and have thought of all the smallest details to make your stay unforgettable. This year we brought our new grandbaby for the first time and enjoyed playing in the lake, something we have looked forward to for years. If you are looking for the very best location around.. and somewhere to make memories you'll never forget, this is your place!

We just returned from our 5th visit to the Other Place and Lord willing, we will be back next summer with our family! Its become such a special place to us.. the views, the house, the lake, the little stream where the children can safely play.. the great deck where we spend most of our time! We love to get seafood and cook it right there every night at the house. Each trip we are blessed to have some of our children and their friends join us from college.. Another great memory at the Other Place. Thanks Faye!

My extended family and I stayed at "The Other Place" for Thanksgiving 2009. We had 6 adults and 2 kids, and the Other Place has plenty of bathrooms and a very open living area, so we never felt like we were on top of each other. What drew us to the Other Place is the location. It has the best siting on the beach with panoramic views of the ocean and Eastern Lake. And it is right on the beach, so you don't need to cross any roads or schlep your beach toys down a boardwark. You can watch the kids from either the upper or lower deck, and it is right next to the skimboarding area between the ocean and Eastern Lake. If you want to stay where you can open the door and step on the sand, this is it. Bike rentals are convenient and it is an easy (a kid will do it for a snowcone) ride west to shopping and restaurants. It's a short drive to Panama City Beach or Destin if you want to go to the movies or do more serious (non-boutique) shopping. Another plus, the owners are fantastic to work with. We'll definitely be back.

We have great fun at The Other Place. It is a perfect gathering place for our family to meet and spend the week together. This was our third year to stay and it only gets better with each visit. The ocean and lake are just steps from your deck. The location is great. Wanda Martin

We visited "the Other Place" for the 2nd time this year and have fallen in love with it all over again. It is the perfect home in the most ideal location in SoWal. Our toddlers loved playing in the lake (which is off one porch) and the gulf (which is steps from the front door). The house is truly a home with all you will ever need at the beach. We can't imagine staying anywhere else during our annual trips to Seaside - this is the ONLY place to stay. We will keep coming back as long as the doors are open for us. Thanks!!!

We have spent three Spring Breaks at "The Other Place" and we just love it! It is definitely the best location in South Walton, with breathtaking views in every direction. The beach is beautiful and the lake outlet provides a wonderful area for small children to play. The house is perfect for multiple families to share. It never feels crowded and every adult gets a king bed and private bath. The kids love the cozy bunkroom. The house has all of the comforts of home and the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware. The owners are absolutely wonderful and make us feel like family and not just renters.

We have spent 2 summer vacations at "The Other Place" and love it there. The location of this house is PERFECT! It is especially nice for kids since it sits right on the lake and you can easily go back and forth from beach to house. We love sitting on the big decks and watching the ocean and feeling the ocean breeze. I have stayed at 3 other properties in Seagrove and love this house. I would recommend it, and hope to get back again next year.
Owner response:Thank you Sharon for your nice remarks about our beach home. I want others to know our home is Gulf front right on the beach and also sits where the lake enters the Gulf. Many thanks. Faye

This is a fabulous house! It is the perfect location - easy to get to, right on the beach and right next to the lake, which is wonderful for kids of all ages. The house felt like home, it was very clean, had everything we needed. It is the only place, after trying several over the years, that we will return to next year. We're already looking forward to that!! This was a family vacation, with 3 families, and was just right. The owners are so very nice as well, very helpful. Thank you to them for sharing their house.
