English How many times have you visited Costa Rica? 1 After seeing the horrific traffic back up from the one-lane bridge in town, and noticicng the coming darkness, we had originally intended to stay at one of the hotels closer to the town, but disappointment after disappointment finally led us to the charming little paradise better known as Cabinas La Tranquilidad. On the recommendation of one of the nearby neighbors, we stopped in to see if there were rooms, and Brandon (the manager) set us up in a lovely 6-bed room with a large bathroom. While there is a open-area public kitchen and common area with a dining table and television, there is no food onsite - however Hotel Las Islas up the road has a good menu, and there are several very amply-supplied groceries on the way back to Parrita. There are a lovely swimming pool, a soaking pool with nearby outdoor showers, and a covered area with gaming tables (foosball and pool)available to the guests. Sadie, the housekeeper, and Jose, the groundsman, were as nice as could be, and told us that across the road was a beautiful, quiet beach that led up to an estuary, and was loaded with shells and sand dollars - which was an understatement. Brandon's dogs, Snoopy and Suzy, and the black one whose name I forget at the moment, are more than happy to play all day, and will gladly accompany you to the beach, enjoying the surf and the sand with great delight. Jose also can be persuaded with little effort to cut down coconuts from the surrounding palms to sate your juice-drinking needs. Be prepared for the scamper of giant black iguanas on the rooftops at all times of day - a noise that isn't that distracting at all once you realize what it is making the noise. In fact, Suzy caught us one, and we greatly enjoyed looking at it until she spooked it and it ran into the laundry room, before being chased back out and up the side of the building, presumably headed for the roof. Just watch out for Gigi the cat - she's cute but wicked at times. The rooms are clean, the people are nice, and the prices are very very reasonable.
