Accommodations: Apartment, Studio, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)
This is an excellent Florence Vacation Apartment if an historic center location and affordability are top priorities. The Michaela Florence apartment is a perfect retreat from Florence's busy downtown streets, and is more spacious and affordable then comparably priced Florence hotel rooms, plus it has the added benefits of a kitchen, washing machine, large bathroom, and sofa area for relaxing.
The apartment is located on Via della Spada off of the high-fashion Via Tornabuoni, with numerous major designer boutiques just outside the front door of the apartment building. Stroll along downtown Florence pedestrian thoroughfares, enjoy outdoor cafes, easy museum access due to the central location, plenty of shopping, restaurants, and the best produce market, the Mercato Centrale, all within walking distance.
This is the Florence you see in the postcards and glossy coffee table books. The Piazza Reppublica only a few blocks away, the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio Bridge an easy 5 to 10 minute walk. Just down the street is the famous Palazzo Strozzi. Going in the opposite direction, the Santa Maria Novella train station is an 8 minute walk.
If you are looking for a chic neighborhood and a convenient stopping point at the end of a busy day of sightseeing, the Michaela studio apartment offers the perfect solution. Or, if your dream has been to attend language or cooking school in Florence for several weeks, this apartment provides a comfortable and safe home base for your sojourn.
The apartment was completely remodeled in 2004. It is located on the 3rd floor (this is called the 2nd floor in Italy) of a four-story apartment building which has an elevator. Once you enter the building there are six steps up to the elevator.
There are two outdoor cafes, two tiny grocery stores "alimentari" and several restaurants on the block where the apartment is located. The Gucci Store is directly behind the apartment building, the Robert Cavalli boutique is right across the street, Salvatore Ferragamo's flagship store and museum are only a 2 minute walk away.
This air conditioned apartment is approximately 275 sq. ft., and has a large picture window that lets in lots of morning light. However, if you want to sleep late there is a blackout shade and drapes to shut out the light! The window overlooks the internal courtyard and service terraces of other apartments.
The sofa is brand new and opens out into a roomy queen-size bed (actually, it is 3 inches wider then a queen). The mattress is also new from a high-quality Italian manufacturer. Between the living area and the bathroom is a large double-door closet.
There is an efficiency kitchen, with all new appliances, a 2-burner electric stove top, microwave, toaster, under-the-counter refrigerator, and Italian-style coffeepot. Drip coffeemaker available upon request. The round dining table seats up to four people. The kitchenette is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans.
The bathroom is excellent with ample halogen lighting, a large fully enclosed shower, toilet, bidet, and heated towel racks. The countertop is spacious and there is very good under-the-sink storage for towels and toiletries. A hairdryer is provided for guests' convenience.
If you want to be right in the center of Florence with a small kitchen and a very nice bathroom plus a washing machine, with all the sites within a few minutes walk, the Michaela apartment is a great choice.

We found the accommodatons very nice and comfortable. The only drawback was the ice maker did not make ice very well and we Americans like our ice and it could not be purchased anywhere. [The freezer has an ice cube tray, no ice maker. - Lisa] We thought the lighting in the living room could have been better as we did a lot of reading for places to visit, etc. The bathroom was very up-to-speed. The location could not have been any better - it was close to absolutely everything and all within walking distance. The stops and restaurants were great and right at hand. Everyone was very friendly and greeter could not have been more helpful and gracious. It is hard to say what we enjoyed the most as there were so many things to enjoy, but we would have to say just the safety and location of the apartment made our trip absolutely wonderful. Thank you. We look forward to working with you again. Deb and Tom , Tucson, Arizona

The Michaela apartment was perfect for our needs. The compact kitchen is fully equipped and I enjoyed cooking many meals with the wonderful ingredients purchased at the Mercato Centrale...be sure to taste the abundant samples at Perini! The bathroom is spacious and immaculate, the bed is very comfortable. The computer room felt like an extension of the apartment, an added bonus. Most importantly Miki and Franco are wonderful hosts. They welcomed us warmly, took pride in giving us a tour, and showed us how things work. We loved the neighborhood and walked everywhere. A favorite restaurant is La Spada, very reasonable especially for take out. The info packet from Italy Perfect was very comprehensive and helpful. We have rented from Paris Perfect also and our future European travel plans will always include one of your excellent apartments. Thank you. Lorraine and Steve, Connecticut

I just returned from 11 wonderful nights in Firenze, Italy. I decided on this trip to rent an apartment due to the length of my stay and chose to rent the Michaela, a studio apartment from ItalyPerfect. Lisa was so very helpful and professional throughout the planning stages and answered all my questions which were so much appreciated. The apartment is perfectly located in the fashion shopping district (which for me was not a good thing, but I kept my promise not to splurge and I didn’t) close to Via Tornabuoni, is about a ten minute walk to and from the Santa Maria Novella (SMN) train station and it's on a bus route as well and you can walk to all the major sites that Firenze has to offer. The apartment itself suited my needs perfectly as I was traveling solo. The apartment is fairly quiet for it being in a very busy thoroughfare. The apartment is very attractive, had a lovely welcoming basket of wine, chocolate, etc., the room was a good- size, very comfortable and it had everything I wanted with a modern bathroom. And if you’re wondering, the apartment building has an elevator, so no need to struggle with your luggage up the stairs. You can keep in touch with family and friends or get caught up on the latest headline news with easy access to the internet with the computer work station just outside your door. As Firenze happens to be my favorite destination in Italy I’m already thinking and planning my next trip to Italy and will definitely book my stay with ItalyPerfect for all my future accommodations throughout Europe and especially Firenze and will definitely recommend using them to one an all. I was only in Florence 4 days visiting friends but I found the overall experience at the Michaela very good. The greeter was excellent, very helpful and willing to do anything needed. I was very familiar with the area and highly recommend the coffee across the street at Cafe Giacosa - the best cappucino in the world I am sure! Being right in the centre of the best shopping area I thought the apartment would be noisy but it was not. The only problem I expereinced was the lack of screens on the window. [Window screens are uncommon in Italy. Lisa Italy Perfet] It was October and I did not turn on the air-conditioning, didn't realize there were mosquitos - so I had lots of bites. Very safe even when I returned late at night. Highly recommend the place and the company. Sherry, Halifax, Nova Scotia
