Welcome to Casa de Los Abuelos.
This is a three bedroom private villa, with everything on one level, and a beach less than 200 feet away. Each of the three King size bedrooms has it's own luxury bathroom, making travelling with three couples still very private.

We also believe in green technology. This Barra de Navidad home is solar powered with battery backups along with the normal Mexican power grid. On a normal day the solar panels supply 100% of the electricity needed to run the house.

Located in a secure, gated community with upscale homes. This subdivision is only 6 years old but the maturity of the palm trees, shrubs and plants creates a lush, tropical atmosphere. You will enjoy all the amenities you are used to at home, and more.
If you are looking to get away from the crowds this is the place for you. This home, offers extra privacy with a large green front yard, and lush vegetation between you and the street. Enjoy your private pool and the cool ocean breezes, in the shade of the palapa, while the beach is but a few feet away.
Stores, shopping etc... are only a few minutes away by car.

Daytime activity is minimal and evenings are quiet and relaxing, with only the sound of the surf in the background.
We will send you all the information to start enjoying your holiday from the first minute you arrive.

All three bedrooms have King size double pillow top mattresses and are covered in Egyptian cotton bedding and are sooo comfortable. Each bedroom has a seperate private bathroom. The master bedroom has a walk in closet with a safe for valuables. The master ensuite is elegant and inviting. One of the other two bedrooms with king size beds is connected to another large three piece bathroom. A half bathroom for pool users, is just off the patio. A washer, dryer, ironing board and iron are in the pantry just off the kitchen.

The kitchen is equipped with full size, top grade appliances. A spice collection and other basic cooking needs are supplied.

All you need to holiday here is personal items and food.

A water filtration system with UV technology assures pure water throughout the house. A seperate water cooler for those who prefer bottled water.
Enjoy the cool ocean breezes under the palapa next to your own pool. The ocean is only steps away for those long beach walks, and a 27 hole golf course is just up the road. Two more great golf courses are 40 minutes away in Manzanillo city.

A choice of Sirrius radio, or XM satellite radio, flows through a stereo system for any style listening pleasure. The satellite TV has a ton of movie channels.
A collection of DVD movies, a number of books, and numerous board games are on hand.

We supply a Vonage internet phone, with free long distance to Canada/USA, and Puerto Rico. A local pay by the minute cell phone, is available as well.
Twice weekly maid service is included. Daily service can be supplied for a per day cost, paid directly to the maid.

A queen sized airbed that is 20" deep and blows up with an electric pump is available for up to 2 more guests, making a total of 8. This bed can be set up where ever you choose in the house.

For guests who have small children, a playpen, a stroller, a high chair, an infant size life jacket, and a car seat are supplied to minimize your packing needs. Included are some small weights, a yoga mat and exercise ball for those who wish to keep up their gym routine.

This is still small town Mexico where the locals all greet you with a genuine smile. Credit cards and dollars are not normally the currency of choice as all stores price their goods in pesos.
A car rental is necessary.

Swimming in the ocean has to be evaluated on a daily basis. At times it is very swimmable and other times can be rough. The calmest waters are in the bay at Melaque only a few minutes away. You can compliment your vacation with many activities including, fishing, snorkeling, horseback riding etc.

For the health and welfare of all our guests we must insist that smoking in the house is not acceptable.

Don't forget to read the comments left by past guests.

Barra De Navidad, 3 King Beds, 3 Baths,Pool, Solar Powered.

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Barra de Navidad

After vacationing in many other Mexico destinations, we tried Barra de Navidad. The small town atmosphere and genuine relaxed Mexican lifestyle kept us coming back. We built our retirement home here in 2005 and have had so many memorable times with our kids and grandkids. We invite you to come and share our tropical jewel, with your families and friends.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Our solar panels create enough electricity to power 100% of this home on a normal day. The grid only comes into play at night and the daytime sunlight returns the power "borrowed". This home offers near total privacy, as you would have in any private home. No hotel guests to step around or compete with for pool use and chairs. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. You are close to nature yet in a neighborhood of upscale homes with great neighbors, and only 200 feet from the Pacific Ocean. There are restaurants, bars and stores within minutes by car. Visit carnivals, markets and other busy events then go back to the house to lay back, relax and swim in your private pool, walk the seclude beach and decompress. Truly a relaxing vacation.

Owner's Map of Barra de Navidad

Wanda and I have been married for 37 years, and could never have dreamed of being so fortunate as to own this Mexican property. I have been self employed since 1974 and Wanda has been a Registered Nurse since 1976. After working hard for all those years, with minor interuptions for family, the time came for some quality relaxation. Barra de Navidad has become our destination of choice.

We would highly recommend this property. The house was absolutely beautiful, with high quality bedding, appliances, furniture, etc. The ocean sounds lulled us to sleep every night, the view spectacular. Had a great time exploring in Barra de Navidad, great food and margueritas. We felt safe and secure at the property and we had no qualms about leaving our valuables at the house thanks to the gated security. Had a wonderful time!!!!!!

We booked Bob & Wanda's lovely Barra de Navidad home for a month & could have easily stayed longer! Spotlessly maintained, furnished with quality, comfortable furniture (including comfortable beds - hard to find in other Mexican holiday rentals we've booked!). The garden is lovely - surrounded by a bougainvillea & hibiscus hedge for beauty & privacy - and includes a great pool and just the right mix of sun & shade. The hosts are incredibly attentive and have supplied many extras. We heartily recommend this property!

Owner response:We wish all our guests the best vacation ever!

Thank you Bob and Wanda for the use of your lovely home. Our family had a very relaxing enjoyable holiday in very sunny Isla de Navidad. The house had everything we needed and more to make our holiday comfortable. All we had to do was pack our clothes and arrive. Everything else was provided at the house. The free WiFi and phone to really helped make our working holiday a reality. We fell in love with this area two years ago and keep finding our way back there. The sub division is located 15 minutes from Bara we really love the quiet, safe feeling of this area. The relaxed neighbor hood is a very welcome change from a hotel or Condo. For days we just felt like walking to a restaurant, next door is Coco Cabanas and Playa Grande restaurants that offer great service and food. It's a two minute walk to the beach, just out side the front door to enjoy a morning walk on the beach, or an evening sun sets like nowhere else in the world. Driving in this area of Mexico is not a challenge and renting a car is just part of the adventure.

Owner response:We thank you for choosing our home for your vacation.

A clean, safe and cozy house in a spectacular area.

We felt at home right away and were not disappointed. The house is clean with everything supplied what you need. The Mexican staff is friendly and does an excellent job, all above Armando, the manager for the gated community, who is very helpful. There are many good restaurants and stores in a short driving distance. The high surf in front of the development is spectacular and many good beaches close by. We enjoyed the pool with the garden very much. Whenever we plan another holiday in that area it would be our first choice.

Owner response:Thank you for your kind words. Bob and Wanda

Perfect vacation for our family of 4.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Casa de los Abuelos. Our family consists of my husband and I and our 2 children who are 11 and 13. It isn't always easy to find a vacation that everyone is happy with but our stay here had something for everyone. We travel alot as we live overseas and have rented houses in many parts of Mexico and the world. I would highly recommend Casa de los Abuelos and hope to return. I can't say enough about how comfortable we were - the beds were so comfortable (much better than your average rental house bed), A/C although we didn't it as we opened the doors which all have screens so that we could feel the warm ocean breeze and hear the ocean (very relaxing for sleeping), everything you could need in the kitchen including nice non-stick pots and pans, a washer and dryer so you don't have to pack so much, English TV that even had kid's programming, internet access, and a Vonage phone in case someone in the US or CA needs to call. There were several great things about the pool - pool toys already on site, lots of big fluffy towels, the palapa was great shade and lounge chairs with cushions. The owners, Armando, the property manager, and Memo, the groundskeeper, were friendly and extremely helpful. The pictures accurately reflect the property's appearance and amentities. A couple of highlights of our trip were to Barra de Navidad for some shopping and food at Seamasters. I recommend the shrimp and avocado/shrimp salad. The other was spending the day at Tenacatita and eating at Fiesta Mexicana.Tenacatita is one of the nicest beaches we have found on the Jalisco coast. We had a table right on the beach so we could watch the kids swim and boogie board while we sat in the shade. Service was great and I would recommend the langostinos, fried shrimp and the avocado/shrimp salad (I had it everywhere we went.) Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer.

Owner response:Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you again. Bob and Wanda

This was our second stay at Casa de Abuelos in the beautiful Musica del Mar estates.We(2 couples)have adopted this house, this community, and the surrounding towns. For one week we pretend this is ours and enjoy ourselves to the max. There are no worries and you feel safer here then in any resort. The neighbours are both friendly and helpful.Last year on our first visit to this area,Bob(the owner)made the transition seamless.Rentals may not be for everyone but you won't know until you try,and if you decide to try, then this is the place! You will not be disapointed. The things to do here are endless and you will find that 1 week is not enough.Bob is always available and unbelievably helpful. The Vonage phone makes calling to North America easy and you can call Bob anytime. He has a manager on call who will tend to any problem that may arise. It may be a rental but while you are staying there,it is yours. Thanks again Bob and Wanda for a great vacation.

Owner response:It is truly a pleasure sharing our home with you. thanks again

Two couples, spent a week here in early February 2010. Couldn't have been a better warm weather getaway. Bob was always available by email in the run-up to the trip, so planning was painless. Had lovely weather, and absolutely fell in love with the town of Barra. Copa Cabanas is a perfect place to get away for a drink or a (surprisingly good) burger. When we come back to Mexico, we'll come back here.
