Welcome to Casa de Los Abuelos.
This is a three bedroom private villa, with everything on one level, and a beach less than 200 feet away.

We also believe in green technology. This home has a solar power system with battery backups along with the normal Mexican power grid. We have replaced all halogen bulbs with wattage saving LED bulbs.

Located in a new and secure, gated community with upscale homes, you can still enjoy all the amenities you are used to at home, and more.
If you are looking to get away from the crowds this is the place for you. This home, offers extra privacy with a large green front yard, and lush vegetation between you and the street. Enjoy your private pool and the cool ocean breezes, in the shade of the palapa, while the beach is but a few feet away.
Stores, shopping etc... are only a few minutes away by car.

Daytime activity is minimal and evenings are quiet and relaxing, with only the sound of the surf in the background.
Be sure to ask us about our barravacations website where we will supply all the info you need to start enjoying your holiday from the first minute you arrive.

All three bedrooms have King size double pillow top mattresses and are covered in Egyptian cotton bedding and are sooo comfortable. The master bedroom has a walk in closet with a safe for valuables. The master ensuite is elegant and inviting. One of the other two bedrooms with king size beds is connected to another large three piece bathroom. A third pool bathroom is just off the patio. A washer, dryer, ironing board and iron are in the pantry just off the kitchen.

The kitchen is equipped with full size, top grade appliances. A spice collection and other basic cooking needs are supplied.
A full size Washer, dryer and iron etc. are just off the kitchen.
All you need to holiday here is personal items and food.

A water filtration system with UV technology assures pure water throughout the house. A seperate water cooler for those who prefer bottled water.
Enjoy the cool ocean breezes under the palapa next to your private pool. The ocean is only steps away for those long beach walks, and a 27 hole golf course is just up the road. Two more great golf courses are 40 minutes away in Manzanillo city.

A choice of Sirrius radio, or XM satellite radio, flows through a stereo system for any style listening pleasure. The satellite TV has a ton of movie channels.
A collection of DVD movies, a number of books, and numerous board games are on hand.

We supply a Vonage internet phone, with free long distance to Canada/USA, and Puerto Rico. A local pay by the minute cell phone, is available as well.
Twice weekly maid service is included. Daily service can be supplied for a per day cost, paid directly to the maid.

A queen sized airbed that is 20" deep and blows up with an electric pump is available for up to 2 more guests, making a total of 8. This bed can be set up where ever you choose in the house.

For guests who have small children, a playpen, a stroller, a high chair, an infant size life jacket, and a car seat are supplied to minimize your packing needs. Included are some small weights, a yoga mat and exercise ball for those who wish to keep up their gym routine.

This is still small town Mexico where the locals all greet you with a genuine smile. Credit cards and dollars are not normally the currency of choice as all stores price their goods in pesos.
A car rental is necessary.

Swimming in the ocean has to be evaluated on a daily basis. At times it is very swimmable and other times can be rough. The calmest waters are in the bay at Melaque only a few minutes away. You can compliment your vacation with many activities including, fishing, snorkeling, horseback riding etc.

For the health and welfare of all our guests we must insist that smoking in the house is not acceptable.

Barra De Navidad, Coco Beach, 3 King Beds, Pool, Ocean

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Barra de Navidad

After vacationing in many other Mexico destinations, we tried Barra de Navidad. The small town atmosphere and genuine relaxed Mexican lifestyle kept us coming back. We built our retirement home here in 2005 and have had so many memorable times with our kids and grandkids. We invite you to come and share our tropical jewel, with your families and friends.

The Unique Benefits at this Home

We offer near total privacy, as you would have in any private home. No hotel guests to step around or compete with for pool use and chairs. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. You are close to nature yet in a neighborhood of upscale homes with great neighbors, and only 200 feet from the Pacific Ocean. There are restaurants, bars and stores within minutes by car. Visit carnivals, markets and other busy events then go back to the house to lay back, relax and swim in your private pool, walk the seclude beach and decompress. Truly a relaxing vacation.

Owner's Map of Barra de Navidad

Wanda and I have been married for 35 years, and could never have dreamed of being so fortunate as to own this Mexican property. I have been self employed since 1974 and Wanda has been a Registered Nurse since 1976. After working hard for all those years, with minor interuptions for family, the time came for some quality relaxation. Barra de Navidad has become our destination of choice.

    • our two weeks at casa de los abuelos mar. 21-apr. 4 was one of our most memorable vacations and for all the right reasons. for the 6 of us, 4 adults and two toddlers, the house was perfect - so well laid out and furnished. we all loved the pool and palapa area and the proximity to the beach. bob and wanda were so helpful with ideas and suggestions for stores, activities and restaurants. a great vacation!!

    • We spent a week with another couple in this unbelievable house that is situated in an unbelievable location. We were a little hesitant to add a comment as we really don't want to share this place.Bob and Wanda have been the ultimate hosts right from registration to when we were actually staying at the house. They were always accessible if you are having a problem or if you just wanted to ask them what you should buy for supper.Their website does not do the house or area justice. This is a foreign country with a foreign language, but we never felt more at home or safer than if we were in our own home (except that this is warmer and nicer)I could rant on for hours but I think everyone gets the picture.Best vacation ever, thanks Bob and Wanda.FYI One week is not near long enough.

    • our family of 5 adults, spent 10 days in late November 08 at "the red house".The house was wonderful, well maintained,in a very comfortable area.the proximity of a local restaurant ,Copa Cabana,(walking distance)allowed for many nights out with great food and service.bob and wanda's incredible service and attention to our needs and requests made our stay easy and delightful.we had a great time.the only minor glinch was that internet and phone service was often down more than up which was frustrating to all . we can all highly recommend a stay. Nan, at Sea to Sierra was an absolute gem in organising any and all excursions.thank you Bob for recommending her.

      Homeowner Response:
Thank you Peter. We just returned as well and had the same problem. But all is ok now. The internet and Vonage phone are now working properly. Problem was the palm trees have matured so much since the internet reciever dish was installed that they were blocking the signal. Dish moved and problem solved. Thanks Bob and Wanda

    • We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Bob and Wanda's house. It's a beautiful, comfortable home with all of the needed aminities. The location is ideal for a family or group looking for a peaceful, serene vacation without a lot of noise. We headed into town on some nights but were quite content to stay in and cook on many evenings. I would highly recommend this location to anyone interested in the a relaxing Mexico vacation. Thanks Bob and Wanda!

    • We stayed at Bob and Wanda's wonderful vacation home for 3 nights. The home is very well kept and cared for. It was extremely clean and felt very comfortable. We felt very safe there. We met many of the friendly neighbors. Although it is not on the beach, it is just a short 1 block walk. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Bob is so responsive with any questions you might send him as well. It was a pleasure working with him. He was very communicative. Cannot wait to go back.

    • Our extended family consisting of two children, their parents and the grandparents just spent 8 days at this lovely home. The house was perfect for all of us to stay in. The Palapa was refreshing to sit under during the heat of the afternoon with very confortable lounge chairs. It was a 1 minute walk to the beach where we could watch the dolphins and whales and the Grandkids looked for tiny shells. Thanks to Barry next door for keeping us posted on whale sightings. It is very convenient to the little town at Grand Bay and to take the boat over to Barra to enjoy the great eating establishments or drive the car back to the highway to enjoy Melaque, La Manzanillo and other towns up the coast. Perfect spot to stay for a relaxing vacation. This home is very handy to both Barra and Manzanillo. Thanks for letting us stay in your home.

    • We stayed two weeks from February 2 to 16 and enjoyed are stay very much. The house was very comfortable, lots of friendly neighbors but not nosey if you want to stay private and to yourself. The beds were very comfortable which can be a challenge in Mexico. Loved having the satellite TV and the Vonage phone was nice to have easy communication back to the states. The location is really nice for being private and away from the bustle of a town but meant you had to drive for everything. The place felt secure and safe. The beach was very nice and great for walks. The weather could not have been better, lots of sunshine and warm. Just what we needed coming from cold rainy Oregon. Thanks!

    • What an incredible home! Bob and Wanda's place is beautiful, the beds are comfortable, the pool perfect, and there are several comfortable lounge chairs for soaking up sun! It is definitely a step up from many rentals we checked out. The nearby town of Colimilla has good restaraunts down by the water, but our favorite place was the neighboring Coca Cabanas. They have a new chef, and the food/drinks were great! The beach is beautiful, but the waves are a bit much for swimming. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation with the comforts of home (plus satellite radio!!), Casa los Abuelos is certainly for you. In addition, Bob and Wanda were very helpful throughout the rental process, and suggested lots of activities for us. They were very kind and great to work with! *car rental a must!!

    • Our group, 4 teens and 2 adults that travel quite a bit, have found this amazing home and the surrounding area the perfect vacation. The house is perfect, you have the wonderment of the ocean right outside your yard and the granduer of the jungle all aroud you. The Mexican people are so friendly and lovely, they have the right idea on how to live a life. Even though you are outside of the city you never feel isolated or unsafe. Our kids had the run of an amazing beach and the pool was devine. The only thing that could possibly make this home better is if it was mine. Coming home from Barra de Navidad at night on the road to the house the trees are so full of fire flies it looks like Chrismas lights. Never have I seen such a sight, beautiful. You could spend the whole trip at the house with everything you could possibly need and never feel like you are missing out, but there are so many amazing things to see and people to talk to, you should venture out. Enjoy this home and all that the area has to offer. Best vacation yet.
