Property description

Very well and centrally located in the ‘heart’ of Sonoma County Wine Country, this lovely country manor, (13 miles S of Healdsburg, just off Hwy 101 E of River Road) is perched on 1 hillside acre, beautifully landscaped with southerly forever views through the beautiful canopy of mature oaks. This approximate 3000 sq. ft. 3br/2.5ba custom two-story country home has central heat but no AC as it is generally not needed and the home is well shaded by oaks and eucalyptus trees on the south and west sides. Abundant ceiling fans and cool afternoon breezes work well together to keep cool on warmer days.

With a spectacular main level Master Suite, fabulous gourmet kitchen, large wraparound deck, new Hot Springs spa, and the new outdoor kitchen includes a new stainless steel Cal Flame 5-burner convection grill, with a dual sinked prepping counter and built-in fridge, this wonderful ‘home away from home’ is ready to receive you and your guests for your relaxation and entertainment pleasure.

Offering the best of both worlds, enjoy the peace, serenity, and rustic elegance of this beautiful home in its lovely pastoral setting under the oaks. This location is truly the ‘Grand Central Station’ for enjoying the many outstanding and exceptional adventures that Sonoma County Wine Country offers.

In a small quiet cul de sac, the large driveway leads to an extra large 2-car attached garage which is ready to receive your ‘horseless carriages’ and is home to the extra large heavy duty washer and dryer set also with an extra sink and fridge. Follow the gently winding pebbled concrete walkway through beautiful, lush, and mature landscaping including Japanese maples, flowering shrubs, ferns, fruit trees, Eucalyptus, oaks, and on and on. Now come on in through the lovely front entry door.

This special home in the ‘Tuscany of northern California’ has a fabulous gourmet kitchen, the ‘heart’ of this very special retreat which is on your left just after you pass the formal dining room with lovely table and seating for 6-8+. Pass through the butler’s pantry, next a convenient half bath, and then Voila! Be wowed by this heavenly kitchen including spectacular granite countertops, abundant custom underlit cherry cabinets, and beautiful oak wood flooring. A large extension of the granite countertop provides additional drawers and storage space, as well as pottery cubbies for your bottles of wine.

Your chef is sure to be pleased with the stainless steel Viking Professional 4-burner cooktop and built-in griddle, a lighted hood above with fan and heat lamps, and a warming drawer to the left of the cooktop. Enjoy baking in the stainless steel self cleaning Viking oven with a matching microwave with convection built in above. The LG fridge is stainless steel with French doors above and a freezer drawer below. A Miele dishwasher and an extra large and deep sink with wand makes for easy clean-up, and there is also reverse osmosis water at the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking, if you prefer, or treated well water is also available.

Beautiful views from the kitchen window enhance the ambiance and the kitchen is completed with a toaster, Cuisinart coffee maker, Oster blender, cast iron cookware, big roasting pan, Cuisinart food processer, and all the other essentials for preparing and enjoying your feast. The kitchen is also home to a built-in workstation, if you must work while vacationing or just need to look up a great gourmet recipe. The kitchen opens to a second informal dining area with a table for 6+ making a great space for a morning cup of ‘Joe’ and some good conversation.

This space opens to the new side deck and spa which wraps around to the back deck of the house under the canopy of oaks. Moving on through to the back of the house, you will again be wowed by the warm and homey living room with hardwood oak floors, soaring cathedral open beamed wood ceilings, ceiling fan, a wood framed glass slider opening to the beautiful back deck with railing, a sofa, loveseat, and overstuffed chair, with an accent rug and ottoman, and the brick mantled fireplace with candelabra (sorry, no wood fires due to smoke and fire hazard), all facing and enjoying the beautiful ‘treehouse’ views to the south.

A 47” HD TV with blu-ray and Comcast Xfinity will soon be mounted just above the fireplace for your entertainment pleasure. To the right of the entry is the large main level Master Suite with a sitting area, a small loveseat and matching ottoman, facing a ceramic logged fireplace built-in to a large corner entertainment hutch with a 42” flatscreen HD TV and Comcast Xfinity. This Master has a comfy king bed with a bench at the foot and more open beamed, wood cathedral ceilings and a lovely stained glass ceiling fan/light combo. A dresser with mirror, end tables, lamps, and a walk-in closet complete the bedroom of the Master Suite.

The lovely ensuite bath is tiled with 12”x12” earth-toned ceramic tiles and has a matching double sinked vanity with generous wall mirrors all around, a light up above, and vaulted open beamed ceilings makes this a very special place. The ensuite bath’s private room includes the commode as well as an extra large step-in shower with a glass brick privacy wall, and a wanded adjustable massaging showerhead.

Now on upstairs to ‘visit’ the upstairs bedrooms and bath. On up the berber carpeted staircase with railed banister and second level upstairs access walkway, which are also graced with vaulted open beamed ceilings to the very top. The first room on your left is guest bedroom #1 with queen bed, two bamboo treatment covered windows, wall to wall carpeting, and a Jack N Jill bathroom separates this bedroom from the larger adjoining bedroom.

The Jack N Jill bathroom has red oak hardwood floors with a Neo Angle large soaking tub and a lovely glass doored tiled shower above. The second room of the Jack N Jill bath is home to the double sinked tile topped wood vanity with wall to wall mirrors and lovely bathroom light fixtures. The Jack N Jill bath also opens to the second very large upstairs bedroom with a comfy queen bed and whicker headboard. The five windows in this room are treated with 2” shutterblinds and the ceilings are vaulted and open beamed, with a fan/light combo.

There is also a sitting area here with a full size couch, coffee table, and a 40” HD TV with Comcast Xfinity on the dresser across from the sofa. This bedroom also has a very large walk-in closet/storage space with windows and including a full size futon sleeper, particularly ideal for young children or comfortable family members. There is also a built-in corner desk here with shelving and plenty of hanging space for your clothing.

Let me now detail the many and beautiful outdoor amenities. To the right of the entry walkway, a flagstone pathway takes you to the right through a gate and to the back side of the home, which is tiered a couple of levels down from the home. You can first enjoy a small lawn area as well as the beautiful red and green Japanese maples, ferns, irises, azaleas, a mature Redwood, and a variety of mature and interesting plantings. The fruit trees include apple, pomegranate, fig, and table grapes can be enjoyed seasonally from the grape covered arbor. There is also a small seasonal veggie and herb garden which again, guests are welcome to use.

The home has a large 2-sided deck on the east and southern sides which are home to the new hot Springs spa, new convection stainless steel grill, outdoor prep kitchen, and the outdoor deck furniture includes two chaise lounges and an outdoor table and an umbrella and chairs for 6. The lower level in the shade of the beautiful oaks is also where you will find the ‘artist’s studio’, a small wood framed, windowed, building, just for fun.

Enjoy charming and historic Healdsburg, the ‘crown jewel of Wine Country, just 13 miles north via Hwy 101 with its historic Plaza surrounded by Redwoods, many activities including outstanding dining and shopping, and famed wine growing regions of the Dry Creek, Alexander, and Russian River Valleys all nearby. Traveling east, you can explore Calistoga (15 miles) and St. Helena (23 miles); the Silverado Wine Trail travels through the vineyards with more World Class wineries and leads to the city of Sonoma (25 miles southeast), with the city of Napa just a little further (41 miles southeast).

There are more wonderful adventures to be had by heading west, following the Redwood tree-lined Russian River through Guerneville (18 miles) to the pristine Armstrong Woods State Park (20 miles), and continuing west, you will reach river’s end where the Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean (30 miles) on the beautiful and rugged Sonoma County Coastline. Head north from here to Fort Ross State Park, a restored Russian fir trading post from the early 1800s. More opportunities for adventures, fishing, and culture are to be had in our area and a short drive south on the 101 from Santa Rosa to San Francisco (only 60 miles away) offers museums, performing arts, Fisherman’s Wharf, fine dining, and on and on!

Day passes to the Parkpoint Health and Swim Club are available for $15/day for adults, $10/day for children 10-16, and $6/day for children 9 and under. This premier club has it all, with heated lap, aqua exercise, and children’s pool; weight and exercise machines; exercise, yoga, and pilates classes; all styles of massage; snack bar; etc.
