Pine View Cottage is a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom home perfect for a couple looking for a peaceful and private retreat in the town of Bodega Bay. The Pine View Cottage has a full kitchen, private fenced patio, barbecue and private hot tub.
The Pine View Cottage is located on scenic Highway 1 at the north end of the fishing village of Bodega Bay, nestled in a pine grove. It sits on a double lot adjacent to it's sister house, the Pine View Bungalow. There is ample parking for your car(s) or boat(s).
Pine View Cottage was converted from a vintage garage and completed in 2014. Upon entering the home, you will immediately notice the beautiful finishes including hardwood floors, skylights, and custom kitchen cabinetry. The living room is furnished with a comfortable sofa and leather chair. Additional amenities include free Cable TV, DVD/CD player with surround sound and high speed wireless Internet.
The bedroom has a queen bed and knotty pine ceiling. You really get the feeling of being inside a yacht. The bathroom is directly across the hall and has a jetted tub and shower combination.
There is a hot water on demand system for the house that provides unlimited hot water (although we encourage water conservation).
The kitchen is fully furnished with gas range, refrigerator and microwave oven. If you don't feel like cooking, you may choose to treat yourself to a great meal at the Michelin rated Terrapin Creek Cafe directly across the street. There's nothing better than walking to dinner - enjoying great cuisine, drinks and dessert - and not having to get in your car!
A private patio runs the length of the side of the house and contains the hot tub, table and chairs and a barbecue.
Also across the street is a kite shop with bins of salt water taffy, several art galleries featuring local artists, a small coffee house, spa, and a cute souvenir and apparel shop.
A short walk will take you to Porto Bodega where you can charter a fishing trip on one of the many charter boats, pick up locally caught seafood, or just explore the harbor and sample some of the best crab and clam chowder on the coast.
There are many recreational activities within a mile of the house, including golf, windsurfing, fishing, hiking, biking, kite flying, beachcombing, kayaking, bird and whale watching. Or you can explore nearby towns, such as Occidental (eat at Negri's restaurant), Freestone (Osmosis Spa is a must) and the Russian River area. Or just take a drive north on Highway 1 along the most spectacular coastline in the world. You won't be disappointed.

Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: Robert and Diana Mills grew up in Sacramento County and currently live in a house Robert built in El Dorado Hills where they raised their two children. Robert spent many years as a custom home builder, and has built numerous custom homes in the exclusive American River Canyon area in Folsom, California. Robert then had a career change and developed and runs Metro City Soccer, an indoor soccer arena. After raising their children and managing the household, Diana went to school to fulfill her dream and passion for landscape design. She has an innate ability for knowing which plants to use in which location. She is especially good at succulent plant design and has put her design ideas into practice at the Pine View Cottage and Bungalow.
Becky (Robert's sister) and husband Kevin Dougherty both grew up in Sacramento County. Kevin has been coming to Bodega since he was eight, and he and Becky spent their honeymoon here. They recently retired from civil service after more than 30 years, and currently live in Fair Oaks, California. Becky likes all things craft, and Kevin is an avid chef and gardener.
Why the Owner Chose Bodega Bay: In 2010, Robert and Diana and Becky and Kevin had the wild idea to buy a little 'fixer' house somewhere in the Russian River area, where Diana's family has owned property for over 100 years. After looking at a lot of homes and making offers without success (our realtor almost gave up on us!) Robert and Diana drove to Bodega Bay in the pouring rain to look at a house that was just listed. To make a long story short, they knew the little house and garage at the end of town was 'the one'.
Money inherited from our cherished mother, Elizabeth Mills, allowed us to purchase the property in 2010. The house, the Pine View Bungalow, was remodeled and completed in 2011. The garage, now the Pine View Cottage, was gutted and completely remodeled in 2014.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: The Pine View Cottage sits at the north end of town and shares a double lot with it's sister property, the Pine View Bungalow. Because the lot sits next to open property on all sides, it provides a real sense of privacy. There is a beautiful pine grove at the back of the property. There is ample space for parking cars and recreational vehicles in front.
We also love the location for its proximity to all of the art galleries in town and one of the best restaurants in the whole area, Terrapin Creek Cafe, not to mention a nearby golf course and marinas.
