Venice is a part of old Florida which has not yet been commercialized. Fly, drive, or boat onto the island. Drop your bags and head down to Sharky's chickee bar and restaurant on the beach. Or you can just relax out back by the heated pool, catch some rays or zzz's. If you get bored, there are all sorts of water or beach activities, or you can choose a leisurely bike ride around this quaint, historic town. Relaxation is the name of the game here. If live theater, shopping, or fine dining are your hot buttons, they abound in Venice. Try it, you will like it.
