Enjoy the spectacular views of the beautiful Tusquittee Valley to and from this family-friendly retreat that is secluded, but not remote. It’s easy to find, but really hard to leave. Easy access (no scary drives). The property features many flowering trees and shrubs on over 500 feet of cascading Compass Creek. Relax in the front porch swing listening to the birds and rushing water, catch some sun in the meadow, or simply enjoy the crystal clear creek-fed pond just feet from the screened back porch. You just won't find a better Smoky Mountain vacation bargain!
If you choose to stay at home, you might enjoy the peace and quiet in front of the fire, a board game, or a movie on the surround-sound system. The comfortably furnished central living area is cozy enough for two, yet spacious enough to accommodate large family gatherings.
If you choose to get out and explore, easy walking to moderately strenuous hiking is just outside the door on lovely wooded private roads and foot trails to N.C. and National Forest Lands. You can fish the reknowned Tusquittee Creek or canoe the nearby Hiawassee River. A good grocery store, golf courses and popular Lake Chatuge with beach-front picnic areas, playground and boat launches (rentals available) are just minutes away. Take a course at the John C. Campbell Folk School! The area is host to music and craft festivals throughout the year (Mountain Roots & Music Fest 6/8-10; Car-B-Que 6/29; Festival on the Square 7/13-15; Lies & Pies 8/19; Georgia Mountain Fair 7/18-29; Fall Festivals 10/6-7 & 10/12-21).
Clay County is a great base camp for a variety of memorable day trips: Great Smoky Mountain NP, Joyce Kilmer NF, Asheville, rafting the Nantahalla, etc. Tourist meccas Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are just a couple hours away.
Other rental properties within walking distance make this an ideal location for family reunions. Great for when you want to be close to friends and family, but not necessarily under the same roof... (Contact information available.)
Each week of spring brings new flowers to bloom (Rhododendron Festival in mid-May). Summers are cool and relaxing. Autumn leaf peeping is a wonder. Winters are generally moderate and always peaceful.
Everything you need is right here at your new "home away from home". Once you’ve experienced Compass Creek, you’ll want to return time and again. |
