Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: Mary Henry was raised in Lamoine, left for many years, and returned 20 years ago to visit her parents. While visiting, she met her husband David while out for a walk around the Shore Road in Lamoine. David was the pastor of Lamoine Baptist Church for 25 years. David and Mary have two teenage children.
Why the Owner Chose Lamoine: This lovely home has been in our family for generations. We bought the house from Mary's father, renovated it, and lived there up until 2013 when we moved closer to Bangor. We love the land, the blueberries, the town, the people, and the proximity to everything else we love. It is where our family still gathers and makes memories.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse: The Henry House is centrally located to many of Maine's most beautiful, scenic, and fun places. Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, Campobello Island, Deer Isle, Castine, and Camden, are just a few of the places you will want to visit. Kayak and bike rentals, boat trips, hiking incredible mountains where the ocean views will take your breath away, beaches, and a State Park are all part of the Maine experience easily accessed from our home. There is so much to do, you will need to plan other vacations to see and do it all.
The Henry House gas fireplace and stove, even in the middle of summer, offer an ambience and warmth that is always soothing and inviting. Air conditioning in the master bedroom and twin bedroom upstairs offer relief from the humidity of summer, and makes sleeping an absolute pleasure. The hand-hewn beams speak of the effort that went into building this home in the early 1800's. Our home is surrounded by woods, fields, expansive lawn, apple trees, blueberry fields and the sound of peepers, and the call of eagles flying over head.
