SPECIAL RATES FOR 2013!
Fantastic swimming, diving, snorkeling and fishing with the Caribbean Sea at your door! Escape to Castaways Cove, our quiet, tranquil retreat on Roatan’s south shore. This nautical themed waterfront boathouse is ideal for a romantic getaway or as an oasis for water sports and getting in touch with nature.
Located on picturesque Caribe Point, this oceanfront house is fully furnished with a completely equipped kitchen. The house accommodates two people very comfortably in a new queen bed with a roll-away or air mattress for an additional guest. You can swim, fish and snorkel from your own private dock.
We can arrange personalized dive services, boat excursions or a catamaran snorkeling trip. We'll have a dive master/instructor pick you up here and most likely you will be the only ones on his boat. He can provide all equipment and we guarantee you'll love his low rates! You don't dive? Try an exciting discovery dive - no certification needed!
Enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, reef and neighboring hills from a covered terrace. A shallow reef in front of the house provides incredible snorkeling. Our guests tell us the island's best snorkel is right at the entrance to our bight, where you can snorkel day after day and always see different marine life. We can arrange a local fishing guide or 'water taxi' to pick you up so you can explore the island in style. We have good road access and taxi or van service can be arranged.
Sit-On-Top Kayaks, that normally rent for $50+ a day each on the island are included free with this rental. You can kayak to awesome snorkeling spots and explore the nearby mangrove tunnels built by the Payan Indians and used by pirates. Kayak to nearby McNabbs Restaurant, Charlies or Hole in the Wall. There's a great sandy beach right across the water for picking up washed up coral, shells and treasures from the sea.
Castaways Cove is away from the noisy main tourist area and cruiseships, yet only 20 minutes from French Harbour restaurants and shopping. We're just 3 miles from Turquoise Bay and west of Jonesville and Oakridge.
Our property and surrounding woods has lush tropical flora. There are paths for hiking, exploring and jogging; and a dock for swimming, snorkeling, fishing and boating.
Castaways Cove is an ideal place to relax and revive, while getting in touch with nature. For a hassle free vacation, contact us today. We live up the hill on the property and can assist you with tours, arrangements and any issues during your stay. However, we value your privacy, but we're also here to help when needed. We provide a local cel phone to use during your stay for phoning locally or long distance. The house has wifi.

Our time at the boathouse completely exceeded our hopes and expectations. We came to Roatan wanting to snorkel, kayak and relax. We got that and so much more. We loved being tucked away in the peacefulness of the cove and feeling a part of the rhythm of its life. This spot is truly a slice of paradise. The house is comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The rental comes with several kayaks... we did lots of exploring by kayak and with our rental car. (Having a car was helpful to get to the tucked away places on the island). The snokeling is awesome -- the reefs are right out the front door. The experience was made all the better by the owners hospitality. They made the trip easy and guided us to so many great places (lots of great restaurants in the area!). We're already planning our return trip to return to this very spot!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Jeanne, thank you for taking the time to post your thorough review! We are so glad you had a good time and got out and about while visiting Roatan. I enjoyed kayaking with you - although the wind shortened our journey. Please be sure to come back again and visit us!

Feb. 3, 2013 Marcia & Dennis, It’s our last day of a week’s vacation at Castaways Cove here. We’re trying to list our favorite things about the week and we realize the beauty of the week here was a combination of the great snorkeling, kayaking, lazy mornings reading, watching the sunset, peaceful sleeps, water taxi tour, lunch at Pookies, a wonderful dinner at Gios in French Harbour, the monkey la-la lizard, tours with Ruban around the island, the coral reefs with all the blue tangs, angel fish, pelicans, herons…thank you for your guidance and hospitality…both the boathouse and the villa were great accommodations. We will spread the word! Melanie and Doug, Montreal, Quebec, CanadaRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Melanie - thank you for taking the time to post your review! I am so glad you enjoyed your visit here. You were the perfect guests and so very low maintenance! Please come back and visit again!

My husband and I just returned from a 12-night stay at Castaways Cove on our first trip to Roatan. The accommodations were great and Dennis was a lifesaver when we got there later than expected the first night. Waking up and enjoying coffee on the deck, watching the "school bus" boat putter by, dockside pick-up for diving. Castaway's Cove is a great place to call home while in Roatan. Highly recommend the diving with Larry Coon/Islander Diving. His 38-foot boat is uncrowded and he is a very competent dive master. "Boutique" diving at its finest. Look forward to meeting Marcia on our next trip (she was stateside this trip).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hi Heidi - Thank you for your excellent review. I'm thrilled that you had such a good time here. Sounds like you really enjoyed diving with Larry - - its much much nicer than a crowded cattle boat. Dennis said you did a trip aboard Islander to Pigeon Cay....its always fun to venture out beyond the island for some exploring. Please visit us again on your next dive adventure!

We have been blessed with many wonderful adventures, and our time on Roatan will rank amongst the best. Marcia and Dennis arewonderful people, hosts, guides and neighbors. Thank You! The locals at McNabbs, Jonesville, Oakridge and throughout Roatan are a pleasure. Great snorkeling, ranks up there with some of our bestspots. The accommodations were wonderful. BBQ’ing fresh fish on the porch withcold local cerveza cannot be beat. We look forward to our return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Nov 27 2011 Marcia & Dennis What can we say, we’re at a loss for words. We had the best trip! From kayaking the mangrove tunnels, our unexpected “buzz” at the Hold-in-the-Wall with Dwayne, Harry & Clyde; snorkeling and hanging out in the mornings with Scamp and Boots. Your kindness & generous spirit will always be remembered & was greatly appreciated. We loved it so much we’re considering buying our own piece of paradise. These two owners are the best! It was a real pleasure to have the company of such calm and caring folks. Marcia's knowledge of the area was always helpful and Kevin was an excellent dive master, at East End Divers. We will miss Castaways Cove as we head back to our busy lives. We are hoping to come back again with more family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The reviews and the pictures on the web site does not do this place justice, it is truly paridise. From the time we arrived until the time we left we were indeed catered to for all our needs and made to feel comfortable and relaxed no matter if it was in our rental or through East end Divers who I booked my dives through. With out a doubt the most stress free vacation that I have had in years, and the diving, I can see why it is touted as the best of the best.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Family of 3 (teenager of 13) have been traveling for 1 month in Guatemala & Copan Ruinas, we planned a trip to Roatan to just relax before coming home. Marcia and Dennis is our host who live there full time, for this 1 bedroom boat house, It is spotless clean, and a very comfortable bed with sateeny sheets, We are VRBO owner of a small condo in Hilo , so we do know how hard it is to be running a place and keep it clean in the tropics near the ocean. They helped us arranging xfer from ferry, offered us tons of local information, yet we felt we have our private space. We are not divers, just snorkelers, have done it at K Bay Big Island, Australia Great Barrier Reef, Tahiti Islands, Cozumel, Eleuthera, Grenadines, Windward islands of Carribean. We love this place and it is convenient for snorkeling and all the water sports. The boat house was so nice with the breeze,, it keeps the bugs down. we had doors and windows wide opened, our daughter slept on the roll away bed and couch. We only used the AC a few time for a few hours and the 1st nite at arrival. I was bitten alive in Eleuthera on one of the house rental with a primo beach, so since then I stayed away of most white sand beach now at dusk. So Castaway Cove boat house really is an advantage for me. We got our kayaks, and everyday we go out about 1/3 mile and would be snorkeling right there on the reef and the amazing wall with a very healthy marine life, tons and tons of coral, and fishes that we have not seen before. There are great large sea stars just right in front of the house too. We could not snorkel one day, because of the heavy wind from a storm coming. We also kayak thru amazing mangroves tunnels to buy groceries and explore the town of Jonesville and Oakridge. We kayak west toward Media Luna and Parrot Tree Resorts (good reasonable lunch as far as resort price - at PT resort) - we forgot to pay attention to wind conditions in the afternoon, so it took a while to kayak back, so it was a great workout. Marcia also provides us with apple bananas, papaya, lime, (mango was not ripe) told us price of fresh fish, where the vegetable stands/truck would be. After one month, on tortilla and beans, I much prefer to cook. We grilled an amazing lobster tail dinner with great asian salad. We paid for 4 tails for $10. Waking up in the morning, i quietly went down below and launch the kayak before the rest of the family wake up. Come back make a dark mean honduras coffee, and retreat back out to the deck withRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
About the owner: Twelve years ago my husband Dennis and I longed for some adventure in our lives. So, we ditched our corporate jobs, sold our waterfront home and jammed our 'stuff' into a rented storage garage. We took off from St. Petersburg, Florida in our 42-foot Krogen trawler for our Roatan property. It was total woods when we arrived - we didn't even have electric or water. However, since then, we built a house and two guest residences on the Caribbean Sea overlooking the world's second largest reef. We had been diving all over the Caribbean and could have moved anywhere in the world. However, we selected Roatan and specifically Caribe Pointe Bight, for its unmatched beauty.
Why the Owner Chose Caribe Pointe:
Caribe Pointe Bight is the most beautiful place in Roatan. Its location is off the beaten path and away from the tourists and cruise ships. The lush tropical natural surroundings are highlighted by palms, towering oaks, crystal clear Caribbean water, mountains and the world's second largest barrier reef.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Diving, snorkeling, kayaking and fishing are right here at your fingertips. The location is quiet and relaxing where you can do as much as you like, or as little as you want.
