What a dream vacation! Marcia and Dennis were friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and showed us a different side to the island. The boat house is a relaxing and enjoyable place to vacation. From swimming, snorkeling ,and kayaking,it's all right there. Yes,we would do it again, and again.

The reviews and the pictures on the web site does not do this place justice, it is truly paridise. From the time we arrived until the time we left we were indeed catered to for all our needs and made to feel comfortable and relaxed no matter if it was in our rental or through East end Divers who I booked my dives through. With out a doubt the most stress free vacation that I have had in years, and the diving, I can see why it is touted as the best of the best.

These two owners are the best! It was a real pleasure to have the company of such calm and caring folks. Marcia's knowledge of the area was always helpful and Kevin was an excellent dive master, at East End Divers. We will miss Castaways Cove as we head back to our busy lives. We are hoping to come back again with more family.

Nov 27 2011 Marcia & Dennis What can we say, we’re at a loss for words. We had the best trip! From kayaking the mangrove tunnels, our unexpected “buzz” at the Hold-in-the-Wall with Dwayne, Harry & Clyde; snorkeling and hanging out in the mornings with Scamp and Boots. Your kindness & generous spirit will always be remembered & was greatly appreciated. We loved it so much we’re considering buying our own piece of paradise. Family of 3 (teenager of 13) have been traveling for 1 month in Guatemala & Copan Ruinas, we planned a trip to Roatan to just relax before coming home. Marcia and Dennis is our host who live there full time, for this 1 bedroom boat house, It is spotless clean, and a very comfortable bed with sateeny sheets, We are VRBO owner of a small condo in Hilo , so we do know how hard it is to be running a place and keep it clean in the tropics near the ocean. They helped us arranging xfer from ferry, offered us tons of local information, yet we felt we have our private space. We are not divers, just snorkelers, have done it at K Bay Big Island, Australia Great Barrier Reef, Tahiti Islands, Cozumel, Eleuthera, Grenadines, Windward islands of Carribean. We love this place and it is convenient for snorkeling and all the water sports. The boat house was so nice with the breeze,, it keeps the bugs down. we had doors and windows wide opened, our daughter slept on the roll away bed and couch. We only used the AC a few time for a few hours and the 1st nite at arrival. I was bitten alive in Eleuthera on one of the house rental with a primo beach, so since then I stayed away of most white sand beach now at dusk. So Castaway Cove boat house really is an advantage for me. We got our kayaks, and everyday we go out about 1/3 mile and would be snorkeling right there on the reef and the amazing wall with a very healthy marine life, tons and tons of coral, and fishes that we have not seen before. There are great large sea stars just right in front of the house too. We could not snorkel one day, because of the heavy wind from a storm coming. We also kayak thru amazing mangroves tunnels to buy groceries and explore the town of Jonesville and Oakridge. We kayak west toward Media Luna and Parrot Tree Resorts (good reasonable lunch as far as resort price - at PT resort) - we forgot to pay attention to wind conditions in the afternoon, so it took a while to kayak back, so it was a great workout. Marcia also provides us with apple bananas, papaya, lime, (mango was not ripe) told us price of fresh fish, where the vegetable stands/truck would be. After one month, on tortilla and beans, I much prefer to cook. We grilled an amazing lobster tail dinner with great asian salad. We paid for 4 tails for $10. Waking up in the morning, i quietly went down below and launch the kayak before the rest of the family wake up. Come back make a dark mean honduras coffee, and retreat back out to the deck with

We had the best vacation we've ever had as a couple at Castaways Cove. If you are looking for loud, touristy, high-rise and glitzy this is not the place for you. For quiet, beautiful views, privacy, nature, snorkeling, diving, hiking and getting to know Roatan this is the PERFECT location. We rented a car and were glad we did. We made arrangements with Marcia, the owner, and the dive shop picked us up right at the dock of the boathouse (they take cash only). We kayaked to local restaurants and stores. We took a boat tour of the area with a local guy, Clyde, which gave us a good feel of how to get around. The house is simple, modern, very homey and comfortable. We could not believe the view. When we arrived we couldn't believe how lucky we were to be able to stay at such an amazing place for a week. We definitely hope to return.

– Castaway Cove could not be a better location with access to land and sea right in the middle of the island. Kayak to some of the quaint little restaurants and enjoy meals that range from a cheese burger to lobster cooked in garlic sauce. Swim or kayak to amazing snorkeling sites with post card perfect vistas. Drive to the touristy side of town and take in shopping or a people-watching walk on the beach. Drive to the, almost deserted side of the island for peace and tranquility and an opportunity to meet the locals and engage in the culture. Or stay home and lounge on the deck, make friends with the dogs and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the ocean that is your backyard, literally. Castaway Cove has it all with options for more! We had a great stay here and would highly recommend this great spot to anyone!

What a great way to end 2010! We are always looking at "secluded, quiet and friendly places to resource ourselves, away from the "busy'' life of Houston... on all fronts, Marcia & Dennis delivered!!! They let us use their kayaks to go explore the beautiful reef & wall by the entrance of the bay - few hundreds yards away. The highlight of our snorkeling trips were the "leopard ray and the squids waiting for us on the reef on the east side. Marcia & Dennis helped us with stocking groceries, advised us on what to visit and where to go for restaurants and shops, the best spots for snorkeling, arranged for diving. Not only their house was comfortable and well maintained - with a fabulous view on the bay and sunsets - but also they acted to help our short stay to be a success!

I cannot express enough the beauty of Caribe Point and the experiences we enjoyed. Every aspect of the house, location, and the local people we were introduced to surpassed our every expectation! Marcia and Dennis were more than great hosts and I dare to say now our friends. They went above and beyond to make sure our visit was everything we could imagine and more! If you are looking for a truely relaxing yet exciting trip you must stay with them. You can kayak right off your own dock, snorkle (beautiful), or have the dive charter pick you up right from the house. Diving was immaculate here and I recommend taking Marcia's advice and book East End Divers. If your more of the land lover go zip lining over the trees- Pirates of the Carribean offers a beautiful experience with awesome guides. There is also Anthony's Key Resort on the West end of the island that has a museum and Marine Sciences laboratory in which dolphin communication is researched. We walked through a very nice butterfly exhibit on the west end and this is where you can shop or visit the more touristy places if you are into that. If you get down there stop by the Wet spot and see Michelle for a great latte or the best bloody mary ever made. The East end is for the aventurer inside. Leave the technology at home because you will not miss it! Stop by The Hole in the Wall for a great meal and cold beverage. BJ's is another great place to hang and get to know the locals.Caribe Point and the whole island of Roatan are what living life is all about! We will be back! I stayed at the Castaways Boathouse for a week and found it hard leave. The comfortable, well furnished boathouse sits above the water with great views of the Caribbean and Caribe Bight. You can swim, snorkel, dive or launch the kayak right off the dock below the house and head off through the mangroves to the Hole In The Wall for lunch and a cold one or two. The owners, Marcia and Dennis live up the hill are very helpful and great hosts. Marcia, thanks for the great dinner! The diving is spectacular on Roatan and would recommend East End Divers. They picked me up right on my dock and took me to great dive sites. If you are looking for a secluded spot away from the tourist, Caribe point is it. Can't wait to come back!

We spent two glorious weeks in the villa at Castaways Cove for our 30 year anniversary. The bight at Castaways Cove is one of the most beautiful and pristine on the island. The snorkeling is incredible. There is a reef in the bight that you can swim to or take the kayaks to the tiki hut/double deck dock and snorkel (or dive) the reef out to the wall and into the deep blue. Take a lunch and eat on the deck! The sea life is abundant - so much beauty. Indescribable. BJs restaurant in Oakridge is a must. Also, Hole-in-the-Wall in nearby Jonesville. Castaways Cove owners, Dennis and Marcia are wonderful hosts. They made us feel like family. So kind and helpful. The road is not very good - would recommend a four wheel drive if you want a rental or take a taxi. You can take a water taxi and get around that way too. Which was an adventure in itself. I would highly recommend staying here - in the boat house or the villa. I would also recommend East End Divers for great boating, snorkeling or diving experience.
Owner response:Thank you for the great review. We are so happy you enjoyed your visit. Its awesome that you got out and about to see and do so much - even with the yukky rains! Our road was graded by the municipal recently, so it should stay good through the winter months. We had an unusual amount of rain during October and November that played havoc with all the dirt roads on the island. Be sure to visit Roatan again!

My husband and I stayed in the 1 bedroom boat house for two months in Fall 2010 and absolutely fell in love with our Honduran home. It has a great big livingroom, comfortable furnishings, a full kitchen and the best part: huge windows and a glorious deck with a view of the quiet and nearly untouched bight. We enjoyed swimming right outside our door, checking out the starfish and conch, and diving off the boat. We took the kayaks out every sunny day and went snorkeling at the mouth of the bight - one of the most beautiful places I've ever snorkeled, and just 5 minutes away! We paddled through the peaceful mangrove canals over to Jonesville for grocery shopping and our favorite bar that you can only get to by boat. We went on a few boat trips to amazing snorkeling spots further east at Port Royal, Pigeon Keys, and Guanaja. The owners Marcia and Dennis live on the property and made our stay there absolutely perfect. It wouldn't have been the same without them. Marcia treated us like family, inviting us to dinner and events, taking us along on shopping trips to town, introducing us to all the locals, and making sure we had everything we needed to live and work in tropical paradise. I suggest getting a 4wd vehicle if you're eager to explore the rest of Roatan, but we did just fine by taking boat taxis to Jonesville and Oak Ridge. They pick you up at your own dock right under the boathouse, and the ride alone is such fun.

My wife and I spent a week at Castaways Cove in May of 2010. The weather was perfect for our stay and we can't say enough nice things about our hosts and accomodations. First off it was so nice to arrive at the house to a case of ice cold beer waiting for us. Marcia and Dennis went out of their way to make us feel at home. My wife is a dog lover so it was very fun to have the resident dogs come down and spend time with us when we were preparing our food. They were so much fun. Marcia had a suggested list of places to go and visit which was a really helpful. We spent a great deal of time visiting all the suggestions and traveled all over the island. If you are looking for a quite place to stay on the water with just about anything you could want within a quick kayak ride or water taxi, this is your place. Visit one time and I believe you will be back a second or third time. Thanks to Marcia and Dennis the excellent hosts, you will feel right at home and not want to leave.
