we recently returned from a delightful week at Casa Paloma. The house isperfectly situated close (but above) the town, fabulously laid out, unbelievable verandas on every floor, beautiful mexican art, delightful bedrooms, even two and a half kitchens! Beautiful views of the ocean, wonderful staff, Dora made our group of 6 adults and two toddlers three wonderful meals. We used both the first and second floor kitchens, ate outdoors all meals, loved the whole feeling of the house, how it is laid out. We don't suggest visitng during Easter weekend, as the entire beach and town are overloaded with Mexicans visitng from all surrounding areas, impossible to get a spot on the beach in the afternoon, evening. However, our own pool was perfect for the whole family. Dennis and his staff could not be more helpful, more accomodating, they are delightful people to work with.

We just returned from spending a week at Casa Paloma...what a wonderful vacation! The house was perfect! We had 2 families staying there a total of 4 adults and 6 kids. The bedroom were comfortable with a/c in every room, they had every amenity you could want or need. The staff was very professional and accommodating. Sayulita is such an amazing little town to explore. The views of the beach and the town from Casa Paloma are breathtaking! The owners were very easy to work with and I would rent again from them in a second! We look forward to our next visit to Sayulita!!

Now that I am back home and freezing to death, all I can think about is the incredible time we all had at Casa Paloma in Sayulita. Boy, do I wish I was back surfing in the amazing break and lying in the sun on the garden terrace looking out at the surf and white sandy beach below the house. This is such an exceptional property, with every amenity you could want, and the magnificent view of the coastline is unsurpassed. From the hospitality of the staff, the grandeur and comfort of the house with gorgeous art everywhere, to the perfect ocean view pool with lovely landscaped gardens, it all made our trip to Sayulita unforgettable. Thank you Dennis and Joan for helping to create our perfect vacation in paradise. We shall return.

If you are looking for a gorgeous home, in a very convenient location (5 minutes to beach; 5 minutes to the Plaza), with a very attentive and wonderful staff (many thanks to Yvonne (property manager extrordinaire), Dora and her staff (who kept the house spotless and who is a great cook - Dora cooked 2 meals for us and they were great), and Thorne (Yvonne's husband/real estate agent who tirelessly showed us homes after we'd fallen in love with Sayulita & wanted to move there), then book Casa Paloma immediately. Each and every one of our group of 10 (including 6 teenagers) LOVED it! We will, without question, be back. Thanks very much to the Duffs, Dora & staff, Yvonne & Thorne!!

Casa Paloma is an excellent home. We were 6 adults traveling with 4 toddlers, and stayed there comfortably. The location is perfect, the views are amazing, and the house well decorated. The pool is heated! That is hard to find in Sayulita, and in February the pool water is otherwise cold. The pool is not independently fenced off, so it's safer for small children to stay upstairs (there is a gate that separates those living spaces from the outside, and therefore the pool). If children are downstairs, a door left open leads to the pool area, so you will need to be much more vigilant. Our only regret was lack of access to washer/dryer, but the staff were kind enough to do some of our laundry (a big help with little kids). The owners were complete professionals. Definitely plan to return here!

We have been coming to Sayulita for over 5 years and finally found the vacation property we‘ve been seeking. It is Casa Paloma, and as great as the photos look on the website, nothing prepares you for the overwhelming beauty and expanse of this enchanting home and its jaw dropping views. This house is also in the best neighborhood in Sayulita. You are steps away from the beach and plaza, which are accessed via a lovely path through a tropical garden. The house is beautifully decorated with attractive art throughout and attention to detail is amazing. The warmth and friendliness of the staff and the pleasure our kids enjoyed in the pool, really made our vacation a real joy. Everyone in our group loved every minute of our stay and we never wanted to leave. Can’t wait til next year!

Dennis and Joan have gone far beyond all expectations a visitor might imagine. Its location to all the village and the beach has to offer is perfect. We highly recommend this house.

You know how you see videos of rentals and it looks awesome and when you arrive, you are totally disappointed? Well ... this is the first case where the place was better in real life than in the video!!! No kidding! Talk about Exceptional Property, Awesome Location! I couldn't believe how beautiful it was when we all arrived. Sooooo clean, wonderful interior decor, wonderful manager and cleaning lady, close to town, close to the beach, and everything you need was at the Casa. Spent evenings on the patio singing songs, swimming in the pool, eating, drinking, watching the wonderful lightening show in the sky, and ... there are fireflies in Sayulita! I couldn't believe it when I saw them! I was a child when I last saw them in Japan. And ... I can't forget Luna, the cat, that hung out with us at the Casa. :-) I am definitely going back!

Casa Paloma is a dream property that has so much to offer. When you walk up the steps, face the surf and breathe in the moist air, your body immediately relaxes. Everywhere you look, inside and out, you experience beauty – and you feel a sense of harmony unlike any I have experienced in Sayulita. When I discovered the palapa roof terrace I realized this is the perfect place to mediate and do yoga. I even invited a masseuse to give me a massage there. It was perfect. We have stayed in many homes throughout Mexico and Casa Paloma has the most fully equipped kitchen I have found. We certainly share the owners appreciation of Mexican art and the way it is combined with modern conveniences. Our entire family from grandkids to grandparents loved every minute of our time here. If you are looking for that special Sayulita dream vacation, this is a great place to start. Many thanks to the owners and a special thank you to Dora and Maru who made our stay so comfortable and memorable. We will be back!

Thank you, Dennis and Joan, for creating Casa Paloma. What an amazing place! Such artistic and natural beauty, refined elegance, comfort, spaciousness, and unbelievably gorgeous views from all vantage points! You truly have a talent for creating a well-considered totally pleasing vacation environment, both inside and out. We so easily dropped out of our hectic lives and felt nurtured, uplifted, and rejuvenated. Casa Paloma is so grand and relaxing we felt like we didn't even need to go anywhere else to enjoy a fantastic vacation! And yet the quaint little town of Sayulita and its expansive beaches were so enjoyable that we left "our nest" at least once a day to go exploring. Especially enjoyable is the convenience of being able to walk easily everywhere. What a discovery your Casa Paloma and Sayulita are! We found so many glowing reviews of your place on the VRBO site, we just had to come.....we are totally happy we did.....and look forward to returning as often as we can!

Wow! What a vacation! We just returned from a week at Casa Paloma with every day surpassing the one before it. We were there with 6 of our best friends and a better time and place could not have been found. Everything surpassed our highest expectations. My wife and I stayed in one of the elegant master bedroom suites. We felt like we were on another honeymoon (we're both in our 60's!). The artwork, the gardens, the amenities, the palapa terrace on top, the beautiful swimming pool - and the closeness to everything "Sayulita" simply could not be beat. The owners seemed to have thought of everything we might want: excellent books, quality and recent dvd's (we watched The Fighter during our visit), CD's to listen to, friendly help that were there every day to answer our every want. No detail for supporting our enjoyment and relaxation was left out. We can't wait to return for another stay in "paradise".

Although we agree with the prior reviews that the unit has pretty much unbeatable views with an excellent location, we were disappointed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the unit. The pool was swamplike for the first 5 days of our stay-until the pool cleaner finally came to say that the filter had been clogged by sunscreen and sand from the prior guests. The general cleanliness of the unit left much to be desired, from food on the walls in the kitchen, a kitchen sponge that was full of food and dirt (we replaced it finally out of our pocket), filthy curtains, dirty utensils, inches of dust, spider webs , etc. There were a limited number of towels (they seemed to be rationed- one per guest and towels were still wet between showers), and when we left them to be cleaned, we rarely got the same amount in return- in fact we spent the last several nights with no bathmats. Somewhat unusual for Sayulita these days, we could not flush toilet paper. For a luxury rental, we would have expected that the closet lights be more than a light bulb dangling from a cord coming from a hole in the wall. While this may have been a prime rental in Sayulita several years ago, there are much better maintained, cleanlier and updated units in Sayulita for much less. Keep in mind too, if you don't rent the whole house, you share the pool, which could be pretty inconvienent if you were renting the lower villa where the pool is located-no privacy! In addition, there are really only 2 beds in the lower villa...it really only sleeps 4..the sofas in the "living room" (read 2 couches in front of the front door) would not fit a normal size adult. We have admired this unit for years- from the street it looks wonderful and the garden is amazing, but left extremely disappointed.
Owner response:WOW, what a shock it was to receive this review! After consistent 5 star superlative responses from our guests, we found it hard to understand these criticisms. I immediately called the renter to see what occurred during their stay at Casa Paloma. He said there were a few issues with the property, but overall his family really enjoyed their vacation, except for one member. He said he would have the negative review retracted, since he felt it was unfair and exaggeratedly negative. We apologize for any inconsistency in our staff's performance of their duties. (PLEASE READ ALL THE POSITIVE REVIEWS BELOW ABOUT OUR HOME AND OUR STAFF!) Casa Paloma is a clean property with housekeeping service daily except Sunday and pool and garden service 3 times weekly. My wife and I recently arrived in Sayulita and have spoken with all our staff. This is what we learned. The renters added another family to their villa in the middle of their stay. Overcrowding can easily lead to disappointment. This young family, a couple with 2 young children, were staying in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa. They asked if they could rent another villa for their aunt and her family, but later decided to stay within their original budget by all staying together. This villa is not meant to accommodate such a large number of guests and I fear many complaints stemmed from that situation. Upon arrival our property manager greets our guests and gives then a cell phone and her cell number. She asks them to call her if they need her assistance in any way. Also our housekeeper is there every day except Sunday. During their entire week stay they called only once to report the pool was cloudy, which our manager tried her best to correct. Apparently sunscreen and sand from our guests had clogged the filter and it took a few days to clear. There must have also been a misunderstanding about our plumbing. We have been on the citywide sewer system for over a year and our plumbing accepts toilet tissue. We try very hard to provide a clean house with every convenience to our guests ,which includes the support of our trained, hard working, friendly and honest staff. As the owners of Casa Paloma it is very difficult to hear that someone did not enjoy their stay here. I hope readers understand this is the only negative review we have ever received in 5 years of rental history and it does not reflect the experience of others who have rented this uniquely beautiful property. Sincerely, Dennis & Joan

We can't wait to get back to Mexico ... Sayulita and especially Casa Paloma! The first thing we noticed about Sayulita is how safe and friendly it feels. Kids are playing in the town square. People will not only give you directions, they'll walk you half way there to make sure you're on the right track! First off - Casa Paloma is simply amazing; it's the most beautifully architectured house in town AND at the top of the most perfectly situated hill in town. The 360% panorama of ocean, beach, town-center and pueblo neighborhood make you"mayor of Sayulita for a week!". It's a 2 minute walk to beach, shopping and dining yet a comfortable distance from the din of the Sayulita life. The Pacific Ocean is Casa Paloma's back yard; there is the constant sound of surf and a cool breeze flowing up the hill from the better-than-the-pictures" ocean vista. The waves below the property are perfect for first timers, rent a board for $5 and cowabunga! Probably every restaurant in town is worth writing about. But the best food we had was at Casa Paloma! In fact you don't even need to leave the house if you don't want to. Stock the fridge from the Mini-super 2 blocks away, buy loads of fresh fruits and veggies from the trucks that cruise the neighborhoods like ice-cream vendors (the house stocks iodine wash so with a 15 min' soak you can feel safe about consuming produce.) House-keeper Dora's tamales are not to be missed! And really we found no restaurant to match the views from Casa Paloma. The open architecture makes you feel like you are outside even though you are safely under the shade and rain cover of verandas. The decor is stunning, every corner alive with the best of local art; inlaid sea shell mosaics decorate the bathrooms. With the heated pool and plush lawn chairs, some days you never even make it to the beach! Our room was perfect, nice wide screen TV and large comfy bed. Our friends rooms were equally and uniquely magnificent. Will we return? Most definitely!

Our stay at Casa Paloma was exquisite! As a three generational family, we had room to spread out. The view of the beach was exactly as pictured, and we were able to watch our grandsons surf with the binoculars provided. The house is decorated with local artwork:sculptures, paintings, plants, cushions, furniture. The staff met our every need and then some. The luxury grew on us and we soon found it difficult to decide where to lounge - beside the heated pool, on the built-in chaise on the balcony, or in the swinging hammock on the top deck. We walke through the garden path daily to eat at restaurants in town, as well as to go to the beach. Sayulita is charming!

We stayed at Casa Paloma in November 2010. Our intimate wedding was held on the rooftop terrace palapa and the reception was on the main level terrace overlooking the Pacific. Not only was it the most amazing setting for a wedding we also enjoyed a fantastic week of relaxation there with our family. The house does not disappoint; the location you can't beat, the hillside provides a buffer from the lively town but still close enough to walk to and from the beach or town for dinner. The layout is perfect for multiple families or couples, enough privacy and space for everyone. The gardens are immaculate and pool the perfect temperature. We were worried the pool would be too cold but it was wonderful. We also enjoyed the golf cart and were able run into town for groceries or to the liquor store. If you come with a family ...babies etc...don't worry the house can totally accommodate with playpen, portable sun umbrella etc. even a floating water pad for the baby in the pool. The beds were comfy and we had hot water every day; not to mention filtered water out of the tap. Staff were super, and helped with all our needs. Everything is within walking distance so you really do not need a car; unless you plan to travel out of town. San Pancho is only a 10 minute bus ride away. Mosquitoes seemed to steer clear of this property maybe because of the nice soothing ocean breeze. We used the tranportation listed by the owner and they treated us exceptionally well, arrived with cold drinks and made stops at the Mega store as well. Honestly we could not have picked a better spot, we were treated to fireworks on more than 1 occasion from weddings at Don Pedros and it seemed anywhere at the house you could watch them. The artwork in the home was icing on the cake we were so impressed by the paintings we located the artist along the river in San Pancho and bought our own to take home. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer, just a few more nights on the hammock or lounging by the pool drinking yet another Margarita.

Arriving at Casa Paloma was pretty overwhelming. We had been looking at the pictures, trying to imagine it for so long, so to finally be standing there was so amazing. As beautiful as the pictures are, they in no way compare to the experience of walking out on the {one of three} patios and having an unbelievable view of he whole beach from one end to the other. As well as pretty much the whole town. If you are looking for relaxation, beauty and authenticity, then Casa Paloma is the place for you. From the spectacular art work in every nook and cranny to the spacious rooms and comfy beds, to the friendly staff. It exceeded our expectations. As much as we would love to keep Sayulita and Casa Paloma our little secret, it just wouldn't be right to not share our experience. ...But don'ttell anyone else.......

I am still enthralled by the fantastic stay we had at Casa Paloma in Sayulita! As soon as I stepped foot into this paradisical home, I was completely blown away. The beautiful gardens and flowers, the heated pool, the incredible ocean views everywhere you looked and the spaciousness of this beautifully decorated home left me speechless. It was utterly easy to instantly unwind and drop out. This house is truly unforgettable and is still etched in my brain. The photos on the website DO NOT due it justice. It's the perfect circumstance for a fantastic tropical vacation. Dennis and Joan have created a very special luxury rental home - everyone in our group felt this. It is perfectly located just one block from the most adorable town square and the beautiful main swimming and surfing beach and yet it is an oasis of tranquility. I particularly loved the mornings after falling asleep so soundly to the waves and then waking up to them right outside the bedroom. Every piece of this home was so accommodating for relaxation and dropping out. Almost every morning, I did some yoga on the incredible garden roof deck, and then during the day I'd move to luxuriating in the hammock, watching the birds and whales and dozing - what could be better? I am telling everyone about this special place. I loved this tropical dream home and was very sad to leave....but I am trying to patiently wait until I return again!!!

Just got home from 7 unbelievably, beautiful nights in one of the most magnificent places on earth! Since our one day visit in 2008, I have been dying to spend a week in Sayulita! We rented the enire house for our group of 8 and it was PERFECT! Each bedroom is so comfortable and has its own bath, the living areas are huge, the furniture is big and comfy, there are t.v.'s (as if you would need one), lots of books, the views are incredible.....when they say 360, it is literal! You can see the enitre beach and the entire town! Everything in town is really, less than 2 blocks away! The owners are spot on with quick responses and answers to every question! The property manager, was there to meet us and had the house open and ready to greet us! Everyday, the housekeeper came and made our beds and tidied the house! I would go again, again, again and again! Have no doubts about the value and quality of this listing! It is all of that and so much more!! If only I could be swinging in that hammock right now!! Thank you, Dennis and Joan, for a vacation our family will never forget!!

Just spent Christmas week at Casa Paloma with my family of 6 adults and 6 teens. Naturally one has certain expectations when undertaking the task of making everyone happy. I just want to say that Casa Paloma, the house itself as well as it's location exceeded all of my expectations. Sayulita, is a cute little town, very safe, and just a short walk from the house. The house itself is beautiful, and very spacious. the house is so large that there was no problem for all of us to get together in one or two different areas as well as to have privacy when desired. The owner was true to his word in his descriptions of the house as well as his obligations. If a house this size fills your needs, this is it!

This was our first visit to Sayulita from Seattle. We rented the entire house with friends and loved it. While there were 9 of us (4 children/5 adults), the different units were spacious and private. The location of the house is absolutely ideal. It is on a hill away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown, but an easy walk down to the beach and restaurants in a very pleasant part of town. There are cool breezes that move through the open areas of the house and you can easily escape the afternoon heat of the downtown. The house is outstanding in every way. I loved waking up to the sound of the surf crashing below and the birds chirping. The pool was lovely as were the grounds. The owners have great taste in Mexican art. We all really felt like we were a million miles away. We would go back in a heartbeat!

We have come to Sayulita the past 5 years and have been searching for the perfect rental to meet our needs. Casa Paloma is the perfect home for our three generation family vacation! Its close proximity to the city center as well as the beach gave everyone in our party access to everything they needed. Our biggest decision was whether to go to the ocean or swim in the pool--which was the best temperature. Maru is an incredible property manager and her staff were most pleasant. We have only been home a week and my grandchildren are asking "When can we go back". As an annual Sayulita retreat has become a Talboys family tradition we are hoping to return to Casa Paloma in 2010.

Totally impressed and thorougly enjoyed our time and stay at Casa Paloma. The home is comfortable-relaxing with absolutly breathtaking views of the shoreline of Sayulita Bay. Everthing we could need was provided to make our stay an absolute memorable one. The community of Sayulita has so many choices for shopping, dining and activities for almost your every need. Four couples enjoyed the home with privacy for each of us, yet areas to enjoy each others company. Could not have been more perfect for a group of friends to vacation together. We will be back. Thank you Dennis and Joan for letting us enjoy your home...

Paloma is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "dove" in both Latin and Spanish. Appropriately, there are mosaics made of stone throughout the house of Casa Paloma that depict flying, white doves. One of which is on the third floor palapa terrace that overlooks an endless expanse of ocean and the sparkling little village of Sayulita. No where else on earth could have been a more romantic spot for the marriage proposal I received on March 15, 2009 and the same setting that we plan on returning to next year to celebrate our wedding. The unexpected tranquility and stunning beauty of Casa Paloma will be difficult to leave behind but have left me with unforgettable memories and stories that I can someday share with my grandchildren. Thank you so much. Erin Kirkley and Josh Clinton.

Our party of 8 spent Christmas 2008 in Casa Paloma. It was superb! The house has a wonderful Mexican feel with lovely art throughout. The owner, property manager and maid were all very helpful and made our experience one to remember. With four adults and four teenagers, we still felt that the house was much more space than we actually required. This place is quite massive. The gardens are beautifully kept and the pool was nicely heated allowing for great relaxing in the yard with the most amazing view of the beach below. Every level of the house had spectacular views. The airconditioning was most efficient and allowed for a great nights sleep in the nicely appointed beds. Dennis Duff and his wife have outfitted the entire house with electronics so you can enjoy music and watch movies, but there is so much interesting to do in Sayulita that we rarely sat infront of the TVs. The house is a short climb up from the beach and town centre along a lovely flowered walkway. My husband and I have travelled to many places all over the world and have stayed in several spectacular hotels, resorts, bed & breakfasts and rented homes, and this one certainly impressed us. That's not an easy task. It has to be pretty fastastic before I'll write a glowing review. This place deserves one. We can't say enough good about our experience in this wonderful home except "thank you so much for a memorable stay!"

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! The views are absolutely to die for. The house is so comfortable and relaxing. The art, the beds, the decorations ... just plain old relaxing and easy to hang out. Several days we did not even go down to the beach! We had all we needed at the house. We used the pool, played the great music that was there and cooked fun meals. Hope we can get time to come here and stay next year.

Before we even arrived, Both the owner and property manager provided us with plenty of information about the home, neighborhood and sayulita in general. They made sure that all of our questions were answered. Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager, Maru and she was very helpful in showing us around and of her accessablity. The views were absolutely incredible. The pics does not serve the views justice. We were in awe. The casita was spacious, clean and was more than we anticipated. Casa Paloma had it all: incredible views, comfortable accomodations, super close walk to village and beaches, great pool and A/C for those hot muggy nights. We look forward to coming back!

Our first impression of the place once we entered was a 'jaw dropping' moment. It is fabulous and incredible! It is spacious with fine finishing details, e.g beautiful wood windows and doors, great tiling on the floors and bathroom. We loved the kitchen as well. The views from the villa are extraordinary. We love your collection of art work around the house. We found your beds extremely comfortable by the way. I am a music fan and I was very glad you have such a great music collection. We were dancing on the deck to the lovely sounds of Los Lobos and Linda R. It made me want to revisit those albums I had put away in my house.
