This apartment is on the 1st floor of a 3-story craftsman house in the riviera section of Santa Barbara. There is over 1400 square feet of living space for this apartment. This includes several decks and large patio. The apartment is 600 sf and the outdoor area, exclusive to this apartment, is 850 sf. There is 1 parking space for this unit. The upper level of the home is occupied by the owner.
Entering the gate there is a large wooden deck with a table and chairs and umbrella for your outdoor dining. Up a few brick steps and there is a brick patio with a stone bench sitting area. This is a non-smoking property however if you must smoke, please do so in this charming corner on the stone benches. Beyond the brick patio there are a couple of lounge chairs behind a privacy screen of bamboo and a gas bbq. To the right of this area is the front door of the apartment.
This is an old charming home built in the 1940's. Everything is a bit out of square with lots of little steps up and down and posts and beams all around. The entire apartment was recently remodeled, with new flooring, new paint, a new kitchen and a new bathroom.
There is 1 private bedroom with a queen size bed and a semi private sleeping alcove with an antique full size bed. The bed is fine for 2 adults, however it is a bit shorter than average at around 6 '- 2' in length. The alcove does not have a door and it is 3 steps up with a low ceiling of 6 feet. The galley style kitchen has been completely remodeled with built in microwave, dishwasher, and granite counter tops. Fully stocked with dishes and cookware for inside and out. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating, a tv with cable, free wifi, dining table with 2 chairs and a bench, original art on the walls, and lots of sunshine. The bedroom is accessed from the living room. There is an armoire with extra blankets and towels, wicker furniture and a small closet. The newly remodeled bathroom is accessed from the bedroom, with a tiled shower, slate floors and lots of plush towels. Also from the bedroom there are french doors leading to a private outdoor deck. This is the perfect place for morning coffee. From the private deck, stairs lead down back to the entry deck with the outdoor table.
There are 2 spots from this apartment that there is a smidgen of an ocean view, seen between the neighbor's roof, otherwise the charm of this house is all the wonderful sunny outdoor areas among the oak trees and the clean and cozy indoor areas.

Santa Barbara is known as the American Riviera, and this apartment is located in the Riviera neighborhood of Santa Barbara.
This is a hilly eclectic residential neighborhood with lots of oaks and eucalyptus trees, shingled craftsman houses and Spanish style bungalows.
From this apartment, the Santa Barbara Mission is walking distance (1/2 mile downhill) and the Natural History Museum is just a bit further. 1/2 block uphill is the infamous Belmond / Orient Express Hotel 'the El Encanto' with stunning panoramic views, an elegant bar and 5 star restaurant. Across the street from the hotel is the Riviera Movie Theater showing current hits and also is a wonderful historic location for part of the International Film Festival.
This part of Santa Barbara is a quiet peaceful location, walking distance to downtown and a long walk downhill to the beach ( I would suggest a cab home however as it is uphill most of the way )
There is just a glimpse of an ocean view from the living room and outdoor patio of this unit otherwise you will find a quiet and convenient location among the oak trees in a residential setting.

About the owner: I am a native Californian, coming to Santa Barbara after college in 1977. I have owned and managed rental property here since 1991. I am a ceramic artist and architect and mom of 2 grown kids.
Why the Owner Chose Lower Riviera: This is a very clean, newly remodeled charming apartment in a centrally located part of the city. A car is helpful but not necessary, most things are walking distance and there is a bus line nearby. The neighborhood is quiet, there are lots of trees and birds. The apartment is not large however the outdoor decks and patio add a substantial amount of space for a family of 4 or 2 couples or a small group of friends. There is a gas bbq, plenty of outdoor seating, and lots of sun or shade.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment: This is a central location but away from hustle and bustle of downtown, a quiet neighborhood but near the Mission, the Natural History Museum, the El Encanto Hotel, and the Riviera Movie Theater.
