Welcome to Madrona Cove. The Cottage is quintessential “island eclectic”. Originally an artists studio, the cottage has been converted into a wonderful vacation space, featuring wonderfully unique windows and a breathtaking view southerly into Griffin Bay. The cottage is surrounded by many beautiful Madrona trees.
The cottage overlooks Merrifield Cove and has a great view over a reef frequently occupied by seals. A large tree on the property is a favorite resting site for Bald Eagles . Area wildlife characters frequently include: river otters, raccoons, quail, fox, deer, and even a naughty kitty named Luigi. Sea birds are abundant, including: Heron, Oystercatchers, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers,Swallows, Cormorants, and Gulls.
There are steps down to the beach, a great spot to discover the tidal life of Griffin Bay and the Salish Sea. Spend the morning looking for crab, nudibranch, and starfish. Listen to the waves of the sea and watch pleasure boats and crabbing boats go by. The property also has many beautiful gardens to enjoy as well as several great spots to have a seat and look and listen, or just read your book and smell the sea.
The house is ¼ mile from the public golf course which also has tennis available. It is only a short 2 ½ mile drive from the town of Friday Harbor, a great town with shops, restaurants, and even a movie theater. Spend the day relaxing in a great town with old world charm and a maritime heritage.

We enjoyed our two days at Madrona, although the TV did not work. Due to a vacancy in the big house next door, we were invited to watch TV and use the hot tub in the big house the second day, which was nice. Cabin is exactly as pictured, but be aware it is located maybe 75 ft from the larger big guest house. If you want privacy and the big house is full, it could be an issue. Very nice visit to the island.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+.

Charming little studio with a GREAT view! Sit on the chairs by the fence in the morning, watch the fog lift off the water, and greet the deer that comes walking into the yard. Grill a nice meal on the deck, enjoy a glass of wine as the evening cools off. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay @ Madrona Cove

Absolutely wonderful little cottage just as described. Loved sitting out in the chairs watching the river otters and the birds, waking up to the deer in the front yard. You can watch the moonrise and the stars come out from the comfort of the bed. Loved the fan shaped window at the front of the cottage. We will definately come back here again and again.

We also fell in love with this lovely cottage! It is well appointed with all of the essentials but also spare in the most pleasing of ways. On an island with many upscale places, this au naturel setting is refreshing. The madrona trees provide both art and architecture. So very beautiful!! The birds and seals are endlessly entertaining and the setting is so quiet that you can hear even the wing beats of the birds--eagles, kingfishers, herons, loons. . . enchanting!

My husband and I just got back from our stay at Madrona Cove Cottage and were very sad to leave. We absolutely fell in love with the place! We had many activities planned around the island and ended up ditching some of them to stay at the cottage longer and relax on the lounge chairs in the yard. We opened a bottle of wine and watched the Harbor Seals play out on their rocks in the cove. We loved the cozy feel of this well equipped cottage. Everything we needed was provided and the cottage ended up being larger than I was expecting. Perfect for two! The location could not be beat- it felt like a little piece of heaven and was VERY private. The views from the house and the yard were amazing! We actually wished we had planned our stay longer. Hopefully we will get the chance to come back and stay again!

We really enjoyed this property and location. Friday Harbor is a fun town with lots of great shopping, dining and sightseeing. The property is two miles out of town on a quiet bay with great views. The cozy size was fine for two people who enjoy each other's company! The many windows provided great light and views. We rented bikes in town and day-tripped out to the Lavender Farm and Lime Kiln Park.... very beautiful but it was a workout. I jumped in the water when we got back, and cooled off REAL quick! For less work, check out the scooters for rent in town.
