Set in the beautiful mountainous northwest corner of Tuscany, between the historic city of Barga and picturesque town of Coreglia Antelminelli, Grifoglia is situated on 20 acres of sunny hillside overlooking the mountains that surround the Ania River.
The area is ideal for those who would enjoy a fresh view of Tuscany and for walking and hiking. The setting through summer and late fall is of lush green terraced pastures and chestnut forest. Winter and spring reveal vast mountain vistas, terraced hillsides, and clear hiking trails. In both spring and fall the forests are filled with the pungent porcini mushrooms for which the area is famous, and in the fall the chestnut trees yield numerous varieties of the chestnuts that are used in many delicious local specialities.
Beautiful and historically significant, the area is fascinating for its Florentine and agrarian past. The historic town of Coreglia Antelminelli is two and a half miles away and Barga, renowned for its Florentine influences, cathedral and summer music festivals, is five and a half miles. There is also important American history relative to World War II in the town of Sommocolonia just above Barga.

We have a large kitchen garden and offer fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit throughout the stay. There is a woodburning oven which is used for pizza and roasting and Pietro offers authentic Neapolitan Pizza classes.The serene setting is just the place to get away from the hectic schedule of modern work life. The area is ideal for walking, relaxing or taking day trips to other Tuscan cities or the lesser known, but equally beautiful area of Northern Tuscany.

Wonderful trip, wonderful hosts, great accommodations, a fantastic vacation in the Tuscan mountains. Our flight was delayed by six hours leaving the U.S. and we arrived after dark Pietro met us at the airport and drove us. When we arrived the apartment was stocked with bread, jam, pasta, sauce, wine, coffee and all the condiments we needed even some freshly grated parmesan. We were able to take several day trips to local villages, and also visit Pisa, Lucca, and Chinque Terre. Kerry and Pietro saw to our every need and helped us with directions to several locations. The drive up and down the mountain was breathtaking.

We stayed at this beautifully renovated farmhouse for 12 days in July 05. There are 3 levels of accomodation to choose from, and each apartment has been immacculately restored to reflect the feel of the area. Everything was spotlessly clean and so comfortable. On arrival, we found our kithchen stocked with the basic requirements to get us going for the first few days, right down to coffee, tea, sugar and fruit loaf for our first breakfast. In addtion to this, our fabulous hosts, Kerry and Pietro, filled a basket to overflowing with fresh vegetables grown in their garden. Our time here was spent exploring the peaceful environment aound us, enjoying the surrounding towns and villages, and making the most of the local cafes/restaurants. This location is perfect for day trips to Florence, Lucca, Pisa and many other attractions that are within a days reach. Kerry and Pietro are more than willing to share their knowledge of the area, or help with suggestions for itineraries and make bookings if necessary. This holiday was so much more than we anticipated, and we would thoroughly recommend this beautiful setting to anyone who would like to experience a relaxing,friendly and totally unique travel experience. We would rate it 10/10, and can't wait to make a return trip
