  We hosted our daughter, her husband and their two little girls for a week's vacation at the beach. The house is an old-style beach house, not fancy but absolutely perfect for a relaxing family getaway. The little girls are two and six and we never had to worry about them for a second--outside of closely monitoring them at the beach, of course. The dunes between the house and the beach are lovely. While the younger granddaughter won't remember this trip (hopefully, the next), the older girl will never forget it. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

  What a wonderful place for a family vacation! From the moment we opened the door, we felt right at home - reminded me of days gone by (with modern amenities of course!). This was a family vacation - our oldest son from Idaho's birthday, our daughter celebrating a new baby boy, and our youngest son returning safely from Iraq on 12/24/2011 and coming home from Ft Hood, TX on 05-21-12! We loved the front porch rockers, the perfect place to watch the afternoon storms or just relax. I took so many pictures from that porch - the dunes, sea oates...and being only steps from the ocean was a wonderful convenience, especially with the little ones. Speaking of them, I must say - the most pleasant surprise was the fenced in "play pen" off the deck! Boy, did that come in handy for containing a 18 month old and a 3 year old! The house is perfectly located - getting to restaurants and shopping was a breeze. We visited the aquarium and took a boat tour from the Beaufort harbor. Staying at this house gave us many wonderful memories. We would love to come back here again!

  We had the very best family vacation in this beautiful Atlantic Beach cottage. An incredible location with the ocean just mere steps of the front porch. The house is super clean and just the perfect place for our family vacation. The owner is the nicest person to deal with and we look forward to making this an annual vacation destination. From the five great bedrooms to the awesome living room with the huge picture window looking out to the dunes and ocean, it was fabulous. And the Atlantic Beach area was the exact relaxing vacation area we were looking for. And this house just made it PERFECT! Can't wait to come back!

  Our family had a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage last week! It was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and everything it was represented to be on this website. The porch facing the ocean with the wonderful rocking chairs was our favorite spot for morning coffee and afternoon adult beverages:) It was charming, cozy and so relaxing ~ thank you Wendy for sharing your home with us. I would highly recommend your property to anyone looking for a great beach house.

  Owner response: Thanks for the review. This area is unique as we have an east/west coastline...ocean to the south. If you sit on the dock, there are two viewing areas...one facing east for morning sunrises, and the other facing west for magnificent sunsets. This keeps the covered porch out of direct sunlight, and prevents guest from looking into the sun.   This house is PERFECT for any time at the beach!!!! Either a couples get away or for the entire family. Breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and steps away from the ocean. The covered porch and rocking chairs a lot for a relaxing afternoon or evening for reading or simply enjoying the beauty of the beach and water! The owners was MOST accomodating and willing to work with us in a very professional and even a personal basis. I HIGHLY recommend this home to any one!

  We read the owners review and found the property to be exactly as advertised. Our family of 5 adults and 2 small children enjoyed the house immensely! Main floor flows well and out on to a wonderful wrap around porch with rocking chairs looking out over the yard and to the beach beyond, just over the dunes. Picnic table on porch is perfect setting for meals. We went mid June 2011 and plan to return mid June 2012. Great kitchen, clean house, comfortable surroundings. Hopefully linen rental lady will still be in business as that made it all so easy and affordable. Carefree place to enjoy, beach, family time and great books and games!! Take time to go to the Aquarium up island and poke around the out of the way places on island.

  Our family had a great stay--for december the weather was great--spent lots of time on the great porch in rockers--great extended yard for games like blongo. This house is very comfortable and the owner is easy to work with.

  Each summer I leave from San Francisco to this perfect, homey getaway with my son. It is exactly what you would envision from a Nicholas Sparks story/movie. It has perfect white sand beaches and the warmest water. Even warmer than Hawaii!!! We would rather come here to relax and enjoy the family friendly environment then the hustle and bustle of the west coast. If I could live in this cottage year around I would. It is very comfortable and quaint. One of the first things that I must do when I arrive is sit and relax in one of the fabulous rockers that face the Atlantic Ocean while I sip on a big class of sweet tea!! I can't wait till this summer it will be my 6th time at this cottage!!! The property is beautifully maintained and clean when I arrive. The owner is extremely helpful and is always available when needed. I recommend this property to all my friends and family. We have actually held family reunions here!!! The nearby towns and restaurants are excellent!!! Just a wonderful family atmosphere!!!

  We've stayed there 3 times and alter our vacation days to stay at Wendy's beach house. Great location, fantastic beach access, walking distance to lots of beach activity, quiet neighborhood, great neighbors. Spacious, lots of play area, love the back porch and extended sitting/sunning deck. Very clean, has everything you need to have a relaxing vacation. If you're looking for a relaxing stay for a family reunion or large gathering, this house does it. We'll go back each time. Wendy is very accomodating and handles the business end very professionally. We love this home and its location.
