  After searching through literally hundreds of properties on VRBO, I finally came upon Jasmine Nights Cottage as the perfect getaway for my husband and I to spend our honeymoon. Immediately upon locating the property in beautiful Kilauea, we were welcomed by Randy, the property owner and shown around the property which was extremely private, beautifully furnished and impeccably clean. We were greeted by his sweet lab, Nalu, a gorgeous vase of fresh cut gardenia blossoms from the garden, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, coffee... everything we could have hoped for in a romantic getaway. Randy kindly told us of all the local spots to visit and explore, many of which I had never heard of, including restaurants, hidden beaches, hikes, etc. We spent a whole solid week at Jasmine Nights and by the end of our stay, we felt like we had really soaked in the beauty of the North Shore on Kauai. The property is close to Hanalei, Princeville, the Napali Coast and right off the main road which takes you all around the island. It's located in the lush hills of Kilauea, which is what we wanted, but still easily accessible to all of the main attractions. There was snorkel gear, beach chairs, coolers of all sizes and many other niceties that we were able to enjoy on our stay. We cooked several nights in the kitchen and on the bar-b-que as well, after purchasing delicious fresh fish from the local fish market. On our last day, it was difficult to say goodbye, but we knew we will be planning another visit to Jasmine Nights very soon. This place is a dream... you won't be disappointed.

  The cottage was pretty much as pictured, the kitchen nice and definitely equipped for cooking as much as you wanted to. It might be a little warm in the summer with just a fan which we left on all the time to keep the air circulating, but were told we'd come during a hot spell in late April. The one draw back was no wifi. We both work using our lap tops and my girl friend her I-Pad. The only device that could catch a signal and that was outside on the deck was my Kindle Fire an only if you left it stationary for music.I'd love to come there an stay without any need for any electronic communication, but many of us have to keep some business going while we're vacationing if we're self employed.

  Owner response: We are working on the wifi with trying to get a stronger signal to the cottage. In the meanwhile, our lanai is always available to our guests to ensure internet access. The weather the week you were here was beautiful but lacked the tradewinds which did make for a warmer than usual temperature (80 degrees!). That only seems to happen a couple of weeks a year.   The host, Randy, was most welcoming and made us feel 100% at home. In spite of being on the rear of their property there is complete privacy with the added comfort of knowing that our belongings were safe. I only wish we had more time to have stayed and enjoyed the island longer and made more use of the kitchen and barbecue. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kauai!!

  Jasmine Nights was simply said ... delightful! Our mornings were relaxed with the footsteps of Nalu, the owner's well-mannered yellow lab, greeting us at the door, some fresh brewed complimentary Kauai coffee, and farm fresh range free eggs provided by my brother who has a farm nearby. Afternoons were spent visiting the many beaches... "Pinetrees" and the pier at Hanalei Bay, pounding surf at Secret Beach, peaceful moments at Moloa'a Beach, a bike ride from Kapa'a up to Anapalau Point with a secret pleasure watching locals cast nets for opelu, and a restful lunch at Donkey Beach, and many more to mention. Be sure to zipline in Princeville with Princeville Ranch Adventures...if you're fortunate, you will get Mark and Aaron for your guides. Enjoyed the local's quiet spot at Kilauea Bakery, visited the lighthouse almost ready to reopened after renovations, and be sure to enjoy some shaved ice with some "magic cream" in the middle. Marvelous!! Overall, the cottage worked well as our home base, kitchen functioned okay (as a few essentials were lacking ...mixing bowl, paring knife, a hot pad or two would have been nice), the outside bbq was a huge benefit, the shower produced wonderfully hot water, towels were abundant, picnic essentials for a travel to the beach and beach chairs were a valued plus, and the clothing washer/dryer was an excellent feature to packing light. Nalu, the dog, Randy & Jill were all ecellent hosts. Yes, the pup came first as he was the faithful greeter waiting at the door every morning, and every night. Final word ... well worth the investment to be here instead of the hustle and busyiness of Kapa'a, Poipu, or Waimea.!!

  We had a great stay at Jasmine Nights. The location is perfect for getting to Secret Beach as well as other local beaches. The town of Hanalei is close by and a wonderful place to take Yoga classes, rent bikes/surf boards and snorkeling gear. The cottage itself is delightful and provides all that's necessary for self catering and beach picnics (there were even some snorkels etc available for use) Randy and Jill were most accommodating and their Golden Labrador Nalu greeted us daily. We highly recommend Jasmine Nights for a quiet getaway on the North Shore.

  My husband and I spent just spent a week in this charming cottage. Everything about it was exactly what we wanted. Away from the tourists, close to beaches, cozy and romantic. Nalu, the dog, watched over us every night on the deck and greeted us when we came home. I would highly recommend this property. The white lights at night were especially nice...

  My husband and I just spent our 20 year anniversary in Kauai. We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Jasmine Nights for 5 of the 12 nights we were there. If I had to do over again, I would have stayed the entire time at Jasmine Nights. The decor and the grounds are simply delightful! Jill and Randy were both helpful and informative and gave us great tips on places to see. The cottage is well supplied with everything you need to have a wonderful and relaxing vacation. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Thank you Jill and Randy for making our stay so wonderful. Nalu-you are such a sweet girl, we miss you and can't wait to go back. Mahalo Janet and Jim

  We can not say enough about Jasmine Nights! We had the delight of spending 9 nights the end of November. The pictures are exactly as you will find it- it is just precious! We adored every detail of which included many "extras" like beach mats, extra snorkels, guide books, toiletries if we happend to have forgot something, fabulous sheets, beach towels, all the comforts of home but yet felt like a million miles away. We thoroughly enjoyed the morning wake up call from the roosters (which are all over the island), the sweet visits from Nalu our hosts dog who always had a welcome smile and lick and often felt as if we were just as much his home. Picking fresh fruit from trees, hearing the winds rustle through the palms, the stars, the sun and early morning tropical rains that vanished as quickly as they came, making fresh apple banana and papaya smooties each morning, kona coffee, cocktails on the lanai while we enjoyed the crickets,....the list goes on and on!! The almost private beaches that were so close to Jasmine Nights, the avacado and coconut stands at the end of so many peoples driveways,... Randy and Jill have done an amazing job with the grounds and you couldnt begin to count the many beautiful varities of plants that surround! They are lovely people and were there to accomodate us as little or much as we wanted! We completely fell in love with Jasmine Nights and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a secluded, romantic, quiet- off the beaten path yet close to Kilauea town, Hanalei and everything wonderful about Kauai experience!   This cottage is even better than it appears and it pretty much appears perfect. I'm pretty sure that anywhere I go now I will compare the prospects to this amazing bungalow in Kauai. You won't find any place more cozy and inviting. It is surrounded by beautiful lush foliage. There is a perfect sized kitchen with a porch (with grill) attached so you can enjoy cooking local cuisine yourself or have a relaxing cocktail at sunset. The breeze flows through the cottage carrying the smell of the tropics. The decor is traditional Hawaiian woven reed walls with local art adorning them. I am still dreaming of it regularly. I cried when I left. It is pure romantic perfection!

  Jasmine Nights was amazing! Better than any resort we could ever have stayed in. From the rooster alarm clock in the morning to the warm jasmine filled night air. One week was not long enough, we didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. I am already telling everyone how wonderful it is. Thank you Randy and Jill :)
