we stayed a perfect three weeks at il frutteto, using trani as our home base to explore puglia from north to south. The location of il frutteto is excellent: close to the major roads to depart for tourist destinations, close enuf to the historic center of trani to enjoy a "passegiata" to the lovely parks and harbor, surrounded by stores(pizzerias, breads,cafes, etc.,) and in a residential area where as a bonus we were able to sample the authentic daily life of a Tranese with open air markets for food and home goods. A wonderful home from which to launch a real experience in italian living. The unit was spacious, bright and airy, spotless- with front and back gardens (and a cozy,sheltered balcony off the bedroom-what a wonderful way to start the day) and a lemon tree off the back sunroom to pick as needed. the secure enclosed reserved parking space was an added bonus. the unit is even more attractive and spacious than the photos indicate and the description of the unit and location were indeed accurate. if anything the unit was even more comprehensively outfitted than we expected As if the location and space were not enuf, the unit contained anything and everything we could need or want, How nice it was to arrive after a long overseas journey to not have to rush out to buy basic necessities, we felt "at home" in an instant. The owner, Antonio, prepared the unit for us better than a 5 star hotel. some highlites were discovering the Cafe Lo Gusto-an elegant cafe, the best pastries in a town of wonderful food;the friday afternoon return of the fishing boats bringing in their catch to scores of people coming out to buy; and sunday mornings during Carnevale, to see the children in the parks and squares dressed in the finest of costumes. But what has made il frutteto truly memorable were the efforts and kindness of the owner, Antonio, ever patient, thoughtful and helpful. We look forward to returning with our grandchildren next time to an ideal locale; our home away from home-il frutteto

We were positively surprised to see the apartment and its equipment, everything was avaialable including computer and WIFI connection . The owner gave us a very good welcome. The area is rather calm, the apartment and close to the city center which is by the way very nice to visit.

The Il Frutteto apartment met up to all the Italian hospitality you hear about from friends who has traveled to Italy. We were greeted with a smile and a refrigerator filled with all kinds of amenities for our breakfast the next morning. On top of that the apartment was beautiful, spacious, clean, and had a back yard and beautiful front porch for our morning coffee. Trani is a great town filled with beautiful shops, cafe, and it is close to some of the best cheese farms in Puglia. Being conveniently located on the heel you are able to take day trips to anywhere you want in Puglia. Trani out of all of Puglia had the most beautiful scenery, a wonderful fish market near the castel, and the locals make you feel safe and welcome (if you look lost they will help you find a good place to eat too) On my next travel to Puglia, I will defiantly stay again at Il Frutteto.

Hallo Antonio, wir haben einen schönen Urlaub in Trani verbracht. Trani ist eine wunderbare Stadt mit Flair und Charisma. Deine Unterkunft war ideal als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge zum Strand und in die Umgebung. Sie ist mit allen technischen Raffinessen ausgestattet und lässt an Platz und technischem Komfort keine Wünsche offen. (Für Selbstversorger könnte das ein oder andere Küchen equipment ergänzt werden.) Strand-Fans oder Familien mit kleinen Kindern müssen wissen, dass ein Autop notwendig ist. Wochenmarkt, Supermarkt, Bäcker, Metzger, Pizza oder Restaurant liegen dagegen unmittelbar vor der Haustür. Uns hat es gut gefallen! ++++ we have spent a nice vacation in Trani. Trani is a miraculous town with atmosphere and charisma. The lodging was ideal as a starting point for excursions to the beach and in the surroundings. It is equipped with all technical refinements. It Combines comfort and a lot of Space - in- and outdoors. (For self-caterers some kitchens equipment could be complemented.) Beach fans or families with small children must know that a car is necessary. Against this not for the things of the everyday need (e.g.: Weekly market, supermarket, baker, butcher, pizza, restaurant, etc.). All These are in immediate neighborhood. We have well liked it! ++++

Siamo stati a Trani 1 settimana in 6 persone. La città é splendida; inoltre abbiamo avuto la fortuna di assistere a varie manifestazioni storiche molto ben organizzate. La casa é risultata confortevole con stanze ampie, pulitissime e attrezzate con tutte le facilities del caso (aria condizionata, frigo-freezer, TV, ecc.), compresa una connessione internet wi-fi ad alta performance. Piacevoli anche i due giardinetti esterni. Il padrone di casa é stato gentilissimo facendoci trovare un paniere di specialità locali veramente ottime; é una persona veramente cortese, discreta ed educata. Certo il palazzo é un po' triste e il quartiere non é il centro storico, ma in centro ci si arriva a piedi e il costo é veramente conveniente.

The measure of a good landlord is how he solves minor problems, and Antonio is an excellent landlord. This apartment is centrally located and has two very nice gardens. There is good grocery shopping in the immediate area and it is close to both downtown and the free ways for daytrips. The apartment was clean and had good dishes and supplies

We had many options of where to stay this time of the year, but decided to stay here based on all the nice reviews. It was a business/pleasure holiday, so we had to work some. The apartment had a work desk and computer monitor, and the high speed internet was fast and reliable. The location was good, although I would have liked to have been closer to the beach. As everyone mentioned, Antonio is a very nice and accommodating host. Loved the small coffee shop nearby and pizzeria. Were pleasantly surprised with an open air market on Tuesday morning. We got some GREAT deals and had fun browsing through all the vendors tents. Everything worked well in the apartment and we even washed clothes a few times. The only complaint was the bed...it was hard for our taste. We placed some extra comforters on it to make it a bit more tolerable. While some may like a firmer bed, Antonio might do well to get some sort of extra layer for those who want to soften it a bit. If going back to Trani, we would definitely consider this place again.

We so enjoyed a recent visit--our first--to Trani, a lovely port and fishing village on the Adriatic. We were two couples, and fortunate to stay in Antonio's apartment. Although located in an apartment complex in a relatively new residential area and not quaintly situated along the waterfront, his apartment has the advantages of being exceptionally clean, well-maintained (everything worked) , well-equipped kitchen stocked with basic foods, coffee, teas, fresh milk, yogurt and juice, very comfortable with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and easy, safe parking. The apartment is located on the ground floor and offers landscaped garden areas with seating (morning coffee!) and privacy. A big plus (we have rented houses in various countries) was the efficiency, promptness, courtesy and welcome we encountered from Antonio and family. He encouraged us to call him for any reason (we did have one minor problem with lost glasses which he and his brother graciously helped solve), left very useful guidebooks to the region in English and Italian...along with the gift of some local wines which we quite enjoyed. Trani is not a particularly popular tourist spot but it should be for the spectacular seafood in town (terrific restaurants) and surrounding villages. Don't miss a walk to admire the beauty of the castle and cathedral which magically glow in the light of the setting sun. Trani and Antonio's apartment were a treat!

We really enjoyed our stay in Trani. The apartment we rented, IL FRUTTETO TRANI, was perfect for our family holiday. We were 4 people staying in the apartment and felt were comfortable. The apartment has everything you need for a short or a long stay and we found it very clean. It feels like you're in a real home with all the commodities you might need. There is a spacious living room with a lovely balcony and garden for your morning coffee, a good sized kitchen with a big table for family dinners if you decide to eat at home, a spacious back garden with a lemon tree, a utility room with a washing machine, two good sized bedrooms, a bathroom with bath & shower + a parking space. You're close to a couple of bakery shops and a couple of super markets and it feels like staying in a proper Italian family neighbourhood. I can highly recommend this apparent for families and Trani is a good town to base your stay in, if your planning to visit the northern part of Puglia and Gargano etc.

"We (family with children aged 7 and 9) had a great week in Trani, region Puglia. The apartment "Il Fruttetto" is just perfect: a lot of space, a nice kitchen which is well equiped and were we got a big basked full of good products of the region. Beautiful lemon trea in the garden full of big lemons! Computer + wifi + tv. And a nice garden (we were here last week of Febr, so we didn't make use of it so often). The apartment was also very clean and very Italian... (marble at some places). Prof.Piccialli was very very kind and helpfull! Like the persons in the previous review, we went to restaurant "La Giara" (in Trani), which was indeed a great experience. Very good sea food (happy that our children eat everything). And yes, we also went to: Bari old city, Castel del Monte, Gargano Peninsula + forest, Alberobello with the trulli. Trani itself is also nice and beautiful. It is very lively in the street (we were there a Sunday evening, it was just crowded, a great atmosphere!). I would recommend this place to my family and friends if they plan to go to the South of Italy!"

Wonderful Apartment in Trani, Apulia

We were very happy with our choice of apartment in Trani. There were no surprises, except good ones! Antonio met us with an abundance of information, and a very generous selection of fruit, wine, pasta, cereal, juices, and other welcoming presents. The apartment was very clean, and was comfortable for two couples. We used the kitchen extensively, and found the washing machine a big help at this point of our trip. The lemon tree in the back garden was loaded with fruit, helping us to understand why this property is called "Il Frutetto". Antonio's restaurant recommendation, "La Giara" in Trani, was another great experience - don't miss it! The secure parking space was a real plus for our rental car. The location allowed us to make many day trips in the region, from Bari to Castel del Monte to the Gargano Peninsula. Alberobello is not to be missed!

La casa ha tutti i servizi necessari ed anche un pc connesso ad internet, una buona tv in soggiorno ed il wifi in tutta la casa. Ci sono anche due comodi giardini. Il parcheggio auto è sicuro all''interno di un cortile con cancello elettrico. L''accoglienza del proprietario è stata ottima.

A friend and I spent one month at Antonio's condo in Trani. We found the accommodations very satisfying, however the furniture needs to be updated. The amenities enabled us to live like the local people, which was what we wanted to experience. The private parking space provided good security for our rental car. Antonio's generosity was most gracious: the basket full of goodies was greatly appreciated and an over abundance of grapes and figs overwhelmed us. Antonio availed himself to help us plan a trip to Naples and he also pointed out a great seafood resturant, Il Giarda, across from the train station. Our month stay enabled us to travel to nearby towns and others further away. I was able to do some family research with Antonio's help, (a truly gracious host). We enjoyed meeting his daughter. We certainly would recommend Antonio's condo to anyone who would be interested in exploring the Pulia area of Italy. Thank you, Antonio for a wonderful vacation. John & Floyd

Eine Ferienwohnung par excellence - von der Geschirrspülmaschine in der gut ausgestatteten Küche bis hin zu Waschmaschine und Trockner ist alles vorhanden. Beim Essen stehen zwei verschiedene Gärten zur Verfügung - je nach Wärme und Sonneneinstrahlung. Die Ferienwohnung ist dank Klimaanlage auch im Hochsommer bewohnbar. Der Vermieter ist freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Die Stadtmitte ist bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Der Sandstrand an der 'Piazza Marinai d'Italia' ist besonders empfehlenswert.

Thank you Antonio for a great holiday in Trani, perfectly located to explore Puglia! We really appreciated the airconditioning and the kids enjoyed the garden! Lots of space and all the necessary comfort made our stay very nice. The private and closed parking lot turned out to be very practical and was appreciated. The basket with local products was a nice surprise and made us feel very welcome. The only thing we didn't like were the mosquitos.

Antonio was very polite, pleasant and helpful, The apartment was very well equipped and comfortable. It is well situated for sightseeing in this part of Italy. A car is essential for going to the town centre and beach but parking was never a problem. Supermarkets are within walking distance. Good fish restaurants are nicely situated around the harbour. My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Trani at Il Frutteto. The apartment was clean and fully equipped. Antonio gave us with many supplies upon our arrival and was helpful if we needed him. Trani is a good town to use as a touring base of Puglia, and the apartment is convenient to highways. We appreciated the international TV service and hope the cat with her new kittens is doing well. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

A very nice and comfortable apartment

We stayed in this apartment for two weeks in April 2010. The apartment was large, spacious, very clean and comfortable. And also well equipped, i.e. wireless internet, satelite TV and TV sets, dishwasher, washing-machine, iron etc. It fully met the description given by the owner. There were well-arranged gardens in front and at the back where you can sit and enjoy your time outside. There are shops with food nearby as well as pizzerias. Antonio was helpful and very nice and welcomed us with the basket of local products. The apartment is located on the ground floor in condominium but it didn't trouble at all as the neighbourhood is quiet. The place is easily accesible from both motorway and road SS16. The Puglia region is very interesting so Trani is a good place to stay and visit the surroundings. There are a lot of places to visit like Trani, Bari, Castel del Monte, Matera, Taranto, Alberobello, I will recommend this apartment for a stay in Puglia region for any travellers.

Very Nice Apartment

This apartment in Trani is very modern and comfortable. Antonio, the owner, was great to correspond with to arrange our stay there. He welcomed us with a wonderful basket filled with Italian treats! It really had all the comforts of home, including a dishwasher and washing machine. We enjoyed sitting in the two beautiful gardens, one in the front of the apartment and one in the back, when we weren't out exploring Trani or nearby towns. At times, the neighbors would get quite noisy but the area usually settled down by 10PM. The apartment is located within walking distance of the train station and shopping areas. Also there is a lovely park overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the old town area. While it was easy to get around Trani without a car, we would recommend that women traveling alone have a car for going out to dinner in the evening. The apartment was located close to a bakery that sold delicious fresh bread, rolls, focaccia and other baked goods, as well as a deli with wonderful cheeses, etc. Trani is not far from other places of interest in the Puglia and Basilicata regions, such as Ostuni and Matera. I would highly recommend this apartment.

Merci Antonio pour votre accueil très cordial .Le panier de produits locaux, les fleurs et les chocolats ont été très appréciés.L'appartement est spacieux, très propre, très agréable et bien équipé. Les jardins sont très appréciables pour y prendre un verre, pour y déjeuner ou pour y diner.L'accès à l'appartement est très facile par la SS 16 et le parking privé garantit une place sécurisée.On trouve plusieurs supermarchés et de nombreux commerces ainsi qu'une pharmacie a proximité de l'appartementLe joli port et le centre historique de la ville de Trani avec ses ruelles médiévales et ses monuments dont sa magnifique cathédrale sontà environ 1km de l'appartement.En ville, comme partout dans les Pouilles, les commerçants sont généralement accueillants et les personnes toujours prêtes à vous renseigner.Trani est une place idéale pour partir à la découverte des Pouilles. Il est possible dans une journée de se rendre au Gargano ou à Lecce, à Gallipoli ou dans bien des sites intéressants.Merci encore Antonio pour votre accueil, je recommande votre appartement à tous ceux qui souhaitent passer un agréable séjour dans les Pouilles.Alain

"Leben unter Italienern""Der Aufenthalt in der Wohnung war sehr schön, weil die Wohnung bestens ausgestattet und sehr sauber ist, weil alle notwendigen Geschäfte in der nahen Umgebung sind, weil ein bewachter Parkplatz vorhanden ist und weil man mitten unter Italienern lebt und nicht in einem Touristenghetto. Ich kann die Unterkunft nur empfehlen."

The house is a very comfortable, tastefully furnished and very spacious, clean and bright accomodation, very closed to the numerous beauties of Puglia. Beautiful the gardens front and back, so lovely to enjoy and relax for a drink or for a dinner. Antonio and his family are very reliable and helpful owner and I hope to come back and see them again soon. I'd recommend "Il Frutteto" to any travellers. "A clean,cosy and well-maintained apartment on the ground floor of a block of flats. Nice small gardens on both sides of the apartment. Very helpful service both before and during our stay.Well-equipped kitchen, although with a modest dinner set.The town of Trani was a typical Italian small town with not many other foreign tourists, which we especially liked! Many reasonably priced restaurants offering excellent Apulian food and always friendly service. The most famous sight nearby "Castel del Monte"."

We spent 10 days in Antonios apartment in Trani. There was a very warm welcome by Antonio who came with a basket full of food specialities of puglia. We enjoyed our stay very much. Trani is a perfect starting point to visit puglia. If you like to eat fish you will find a lot of excellent fish restaurants in Trani. Kind regards Andrea

Antonio's flat is a very comfortable accommodation for all who wish to explore the numerous beauties of Puglia. It offers all comodities of a modern flat, and Antonio is a very reliable and helpful owner. The holiday flat is situated in the outskirts of Trani amidst a living area with all necessary shops with short ways into the beautiful agricultural environment as well as the city of Trani, ones of the most beautiful town in the north of Puglia.

My family and I spent 10 days at Antonio House, the apartment is very spacious and close to everything,it is not an apartment but a house, it is like to be home.The panetteria has wonderful local products, good bread, wine and fresh products everyday.The church, good cafes, pizzerias and the port are right there,too.This was the loveliest vacation we have ever had and we will definitely come back

We had the best time in Trani. We used it as a base for visiting the Puglia region. It is the perfect place to stay. It has the nicest little Port with wonderful restaurants and the people were so very nice. Antonio and his wife are lovely people who greeted us so warmly. Their apartment is lovely! We wish we had warmer weather so we could have taken more advantage of the outdoor areas which are so pretty. The apartment has everything you could need and the location is perfect. It is easy to get to from SS16. Supermarkets are nearby as are Panneteria's and only 1 KM from the Port. The 2 bedrooms are very comfortable and are perfect for a good nights sleep! The shower has lots of nice warm water! The people in the building were also very friendly. There is secure parking included. We have no compaints and would stay with Antonio and Cinzia again!

My brother and I enjoyed a week at "Il Frutteto" in May 2009. Antonio met us with a beautiful basket of local foods and wine. The apartment was spacious, bright, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed the gardens front and back and the satellite TV. From lovely Trani, we travelled easily to Gargano (including San Giovanni Rotondo); Alberobello, Locorotondo, and Martina Franca; and Lecce and Gallipoli. In Trani we especially enjoyed the centro storico, the sublime cathedral (where we went to Mass on Easter Sunday), and the Good Friday procession. I'd recommend "Il Frutteto" to any travellers.

Our stay at this apartment in Trani was most enjoyable added by the welcome we received by the owners. the apartment is tastefully furnished and is very clean with gardens both back and front. we used Trani as a base to visit Bari and san giovanni. we believe we received very good value for money and would be happy to return if we were to visit this part of Italy again
