Keywords: Large, attractively furnished studio with all amenities
Aix en Provence, founded by the Romans attracted to its thermal springs, is a beautiful university town a half hour north of Marseille and an hour and a half west of Cannes. In opinion polls it has more than once been voted on by French people as the town they would most like to live in.
It has immense charm, outstanding historic architecture, wonderful sunny weather, lively markets, great foods (hundreds of restaurants), hearty wine, and a large international community. It is large enough to be cosmopolitan and small enough to be human. For music lovers there is a world-class opera festival every July.
The studio is at street level in a gate house on a property with beautiful Provencal vegetation located in one of the loveliest areas of Aix in a calm, country setting only two miles from the center of town (easy walking distance). It is in the north-east sector of the town, which is the side which has been protected from development. There is frequent bus service into town about 700 meters from the property. If you walk a half hour in one direction, you are on the beautiful and lively Cours Mirabeau, the Champs Elysees of Aix and one of the most famous boulevards in France. If you walk in the other direction, you have a peaceful and lovely country experience. Many guests have used this for jogging and hiking.
The apartment is spacious and tastefully furnished. It contains a sleeping area with a queen-sized bed and large closet, a marble bathroom with a shower and washing machine. There is a sectional couch with TV in the living area, and a completely equipped kitchen (with dishwaser, 2-door refrigerator with roomy freezer, micro-wave, induction burners and oven), and a dining area with table and chairs. Guests can eat outside in the good weather on a charming adjoining terrace.
The apartment is light and bright, and was recently redone. All linens, cooking ware, and dishes are provided. There is a parking area which can accomodate a compact car.

Why the Owner Chose Aix en Provence
Please consult this section of lising #5958 (the gate house on the same property) for more information about how I came to be here and my reasons for loving Aix and my property in particular. I would hope that you will come and love it as much as I do.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio
It is rare to find a studio apartment of this quality and size in Aix, particularly in this part of town with its big trees and lovely Provencal vegetation. It is in the north-east sector of the city, the side which has been protected from the development, that has characterized other areas. There is frequent bus service into town about 700 meters from the property, but one can walk to the Cours Mirabeau in a little over a half hour or hike instead in the other direction to enjoy the country.

These days few places are AS ADVERTISED, however, we where delighted when we arrived at Kathleen's studio as it more than surpassed our expectations. This is one case where the pictures do not do the accommodation justice, The studio is actually a lot more spacious than the photos would indicate. The large slider that opens onto a garden patio ads to the ambiance and you will find all the amenities you could possibly need. Apart from the full size fridge there is also a dishwasher and a washer dryer. The space is beautifully decorated and in pristine condition. There is also every manner of small appliance and utensil to satisfy even the most demanding cook ! The apartment is located just on the outskirts of town so there is no issue with parking and no traffic noise ! We would certainly highly recommend this studio apartment to anyone looking for accommodation in AIX.
Recommended for:People with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

Our time in Aix has been everything we had hoped for and more. Much of the reason for this has been our lovely apartment at 565 Mas de Cabrettes. This is a light, high-ceilinged and peaceful place. We awaken each morning to the song birds, relax on a remarkably private terrace, enjoy our walks to town along the flowered lane. The kitchen is well-equipped, the space perfect for a couple. We also had space for visitors while here. Kathleen is a lovely neighbor. She helped when we needed it and she didn't intrude at all. We consider her a friend. My advice, if you've gotten this far: rent the place.

Our five month stay here ends soon. It has been absolutely lovely. We will miss Caruso, the song bird who wakes us each morning, the light and airy apartment, our quiet and sunny patio. This is a marvelous rental, on a quiet lane, yet just a 30 minute walk, 15 minute bus ride or 5 minute drive from the center of Aix. It is life in the country and life in the city combined. The kitchen is well equipped. There are plenty of books to read. And for a couple, the space is perfect. Kathleen is the ideal person to rent from, helpful but unobtrusive. We will always remember our time in Aix and at Mas de Cabrettes. Jerry and Kathy

Dear Kathy: I loved your 2-bedroom apartment, so well-furnished, the best of appliances beautiful location, which is excellent, lush vegetation and close to the centre of Aix. Residensce there for the month of July was most pleasurable. Another wonderful memory. Hope to return in the not too distant future. Thanks, Sharon Blair
Owner response:These 3 reviews are from past guests on another part of the property, which is no longer available for rental, because my son and his family live there. But the comments reflect the general satisfaction of those who have visited us over time. I hope that the studio apartment which now replaces the 2 bedroom flat will give as much satisfaction and pleasure to future guests. I am looking forward to greeting you.
