This great 32 square meter apartment is located one-half block from the Pompidou Center (France's national museum of modern art) in the heart of Paris. It is a NON-SMOKING apartment on the third floor (French "second" floor) of an elevator building. It gets good light as it faces west across the small rue Saint Martin to the stone facades of late-17th century buildings.
The studio is in the vibrant pedestrian Beaubourg Quarter at the entry to the Marais. The neighborhood abounds in restaurants, cafes, galleries, shops, cinemas, and Paris' top jazz clubs. It is an easy walk to all of the Marais and its many museums, Notre Dame Cathedral, Les Halles, the pedestrian Montorgueil District, the Louvre, and many other sites.
The Rambuteau metro station is on the corner and within a five-minute walk are the Etienne-Marcel, Les Halles, and Hotel de Ville metro stations. There are excellent bus lines nearby. The direct train from Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport stops at the Chatelet-Les Halles station, a five-minute walk from the apartment. The apartment is ideally situated for exploring Paris.
The apartment was tastefully renovated in 2003. It has ten-foot ceilings, crown moldings, two tall French windows and hardwood floors. The full, separate kitchen includes refrigerator/freezer, four-burner stove, full-size oven, microwave oven, sink and combination washer/dryer. There is an automatic coffeemaker, toaster, as well as all the pots, pans, utensils, silverware, dishes, and glassware you will need.
There is high-speed internet access and cable TV. Free long-distance telephone calls to over 40 countries.
The ultra-suede sofa opens into a very comfortable queen-size bed on a wooden-latte support system. All the linens and towels are included. An oak Louis XV-style dining table contrasts with comfortable modern chairs. There is a roomy dresser and plenty of closet space. There is an iron, ironing board, and oscillating fan. The travertine marble bathroom includes a large bathtub with shower, pedestal sink, toilet, and bidet. The building has an excellent heating system in cold weather.
At the corner along Rambuteau, there is a procession of green grocers, cheese shops, bakeries, wine shops, as well as butchers and fish markets. The new G-20 grocery store is also on the corner. |
