Aix en Provence was founded by the Romans, and has ever since been a crossroads for those traveling from Italy to Spain and from the Cote d'Azur to Paris. Enjoy the opportunity to stroll up and down the Cours Mirabeau, to sip a coffee in a sidewalk cafe while admiring the 17th and 18th century buildings lining the streets, to rub shoulders with the exuberant students, to shop in one of the liveliest markets in Provence, to sample the wonderful cuisine in some of the hundreds of restaurants in the city, or to taste the wine in certain of the wine-producing properties in the region. Then return to the house and sit in the shade of a tall fig tree on the front terrace while enjoying a glass of local wine and a plate of cheese and pate. Or sunbathe in the back garden. The house is spacious, tastefully furnished, well-insulated with marble bathrooms, Italian tile throughout, overhead beams, and large built-in cupboards. It has three roomy bedrooms, one with two single beds, one with a queen-size bed, and the other one with a double bed. There are two bathrooms, one of them en suite. The two larger bedrooms have French doors opening on to the back garden. The living room opens onto the dining room with an adjoining kitchen, both of which have French doors leading to the front terrace. It is light and bright and was recently completely redone. The environment is lovely. The owner speaks both French and English, and can provide additional information.
