This beautiful townhouse is an end unit in a 4 building award-winning complex situated on a point surrounded by the ocean on three sides - between Van Isle Marina on one side and Robert's Bay (a Bird Sanctuary) on the other in N. Sidney. The design of the building is best described as Classic West Coast with an open concept floor plan. The main floor has vaulted ceilings with a skylight and is open to the second floor loft. The whole open loft becomes the spacious master bedroom with a king size bed and 2 piece en-suite bathroom. The wall by the base of the bed is comprised of a three mirror door wall closet. On the main floor below the loft is the living room with wool berber carpet, wood blinds and a vaulted ceiling with a skylight. The second skylight in the hall opens for fresh air. To make it even cozier it has a wonderful gas fireplace, 2 TVs (one a smart TV) with cable and netflix, two leather couches and a sheepskin rug (in front of the fireplace). There is a balcony off the living room with glass balcony doors, a wrought iron garden table and chairs and a propane BBQ. The kitchen has been recently remodeled and has top of the line new stainless steel appliances (stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave), maple cabinets and under counter lights. It is fully equipped with everything you could need. The table is a glass table with seating for four. There is another table for four on the outside communal patio and seating for four on the private balcony. If you need another bed, the second bedroom/office has a very comfortable new pull out bed. We use this room mainly as a fully functional office with a desk, wireless router, 2 monitors, printer and second TV. The main bathroom has a shower/tub combination and a new counter with a glass bowl sink. In the hall outside the bathroom is a closet with a washing machine and dryer.
Outside at the foot of the stairs is a communal patio for warm evenings.
High speed Internet, cable, 2 TVs (one is a smart TV with NetFlix). Bring your own computer and plug into our office equipment with 2 monitors, a printer etc. Surrounded by mature douglas firs and greenery, it is just steps to the shore, marina, restaurants, yacht yard, or minutes to the airport or the ferry, or twenty minutes to Victoria. Parking is included.

Beautifully set on a quiet cul-de-sac among mature Douglas Firs, this loft condo is perfect for just relaxing, but if you want to be active, there is lots to do. You will be able to rent a canoe or kayak, or walk the docks and admire the sailboats and powerboats moored at Van Isle Marina (100 m. from the door). If the shoreline beckons, you will want to stroll along Roberts Bay, a bird sanctuary since 1929 (150 m. away). You will be a very short walk from a restaurant, a coffee shop, a massage therapy clinic, and Tsehum Harbour, where working fishing boats tie up and you can buy fresh seafood.
If you want to venture a little further afield, you will be a 5 minute drive (a safe 20-minute walk) to downtown Sidney, with numerous coffee shops, restaurants, bookstores and Star Cinema, a funky, old-style cinema run by volunteers that shows current movies. You can walk on the piers, buy fresh fish, take a ferry to Sidney Spit, visit the Shaw Ocean Centre, go to the weekly (in summer) market, visit the museum or walk along the water and watch the gulls and cormorants. If the weather is clear, you will get breathtaking view of Mount Baker.
Twenty minutes away, you will find Butchart Gardens, a world-famous tourist destination. On the way, you will pass the Butterfly Gardens and several wineries (tours and tastings can be arranged).
You will be on a rocky peninsula, so you will see ocean, mountains and forest in every direction you look.
Twenty-five minutes down the Pat Bay Highway, you will be in Victoria with an endless array of tourist opportunities - Fisherman's Wharf, the Legislature, the Empress Hotel, the old downtown, the Royal BC Museum, the art Gallery, Beacon Hill Park with an amazing view of the Olympic Mountains across the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and the University. You can go whale-watching, wind-surfing or take a float plane to see some spectacular remote mountain scenery.
All this and you are only 5 km from the Victoria International Airport and the Schwartz Bay ferry terminal.

About: Paul and I had been travelling from Alberta to Vancouver Island for years. We love the Island and had vacationed at many parts of it. When we were finally able to get our own place we chose beautiful Sidney by the Sea. Once we had decided where, it took us a few years to find the perfect refuge in Sidney - Sailview. We have not been disappointed! We go as often as we can. Our usual routine is to arrive and arrange a relaxing massage at Tsehum Harbour Massage and Hydrotherapy (just a block away on Harbour Rd.) Then go to the Starfish coffee shop next door or The Sea Glass Seaside Restaurant right across from our condo for a meal and a glass of wine, then back to our condo totally relaxed and ready to continue our vacation.
After Linda, a friend of ours, stayed in our unit for a week, she fell in love with Sidney too and decided to move there. She is our local contact and manages our rentals for us.
Why Sidney: We love everything about this place - the design, the peacefulness, the freshness of the sea air, the setting, the location and the friendly people. It is a romantic refuge for us.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo: Very private, yet also close to good food, the airport, the ferries and the colourful, fun streets of downtown Sidney. Also all the natural wonders of Vancouver Island and the ocean.
