  It can sometimes make me nervous picking out a place to stay on our big vacation that we have been planning for months. Lets face it, going to Hawaii is a big vacation and a big expense for us and I want the place that we stay to be nice. Sometimes its hard to make a decision based on a few photos and a description. Rest assured, this house is a great place to stay. We have stayed here twice, once with another couple, and most recently we brought our kids along. The floor plan and sleeping arrangements are perfect for both. It is well maintained and very clean. This is a nice house tucked back in a quiet residential cul-de-sac just a couple of blocks from the ocean. By vehicle, it is 5 minutes from the supermarket and 10 minutes from the "downtown" part of Kihei. We've stayed in condos in Kihei before and since we discovered this house, we have never gone back to the condo scene. This place is much more quiet, off the beaten path, and feels like home. The kitchen is great and the beds are super comfy. Lockable screen doors allow you to leave the doors open all night and really enjoy the cool tropical breeze. The owner has done a fabulous job with the backyard. It is both fenced and has trees and bushes growing all around the edges to screen it from the neighbors and make it very private. A nice hot tub is located out back to relax in after dark. We found ourselves spending lots of time just lounging in the backyard in the evenings, just enjoying the birds, geckos, and the tropical plants. The owner has also put together a great assortment of gear, such as snorkel equipment, boogie boards, bikes, and ice chests. Being able to use this gear instead of having to rent it saved us a bunch of money and was very convenient. We definitely recommend this rental to our friends and family and will return to it whenever we come back to Maui. You can rest assured in renting this house, you won't be disappointed.

  Over the course of the last 8 years my husband and I have stayed multiple times both in this house and in the upstairs cottage located in a separate structure next to the main building. The property is well maintained, located in a quiet neighborhood; the big back yard offers a hot tub, chairs for lounging, and plenty of space for all guests. We grill every evening; we sleep well every night in the well-appointed space, which includes a beautiful kitchen, comfortable living room, Blu-ray player, flat-screen TV with online access to 1000s of movies. There's even a free washer and drier! We look at Jonathan's rental as our home away from home on Maui, and Jonathan has always been so friendly and so full of aloha to us that we enjoy his company just as much as the property. In short: This rental property is what they call "No Ka 'Oi" around here -- "without peer."

  Once again we've had a wonderful stay at Jonathons home'. The back yard is wonderful and we spend at least 3 hours a day there. The house kitchen beats any condo hands down.It contains all the amenities we could possibly desire. The bedrooms are well furnished, beds are Great and Clean and not having to share a bathroom is pretty nice in my opinion! Not having to line up for a barbeque is a big plus. Having the house is great! Two couples can enjoy privacy and space. It is just so tranquil here. We love it! It is close to everything and only 15 minutes from major shopping. The on sight laundry facilities was one of the major reasons we 1st booked.

  This is our second winter vacation at this property and we find the property a great place to relax. The home is outfitted with everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. The house has air conditioning but we rarely need it as there is a great cross draft, solid screen doors and large ceiling fan that keeps the house comfortable.The all grassed back yard has lots of trees and a great Barbeque. The back yard is a great place to relax in the sun or shade and also has a well maintained hot tub. Jonathon the owner looks after it. The television are great and netflicks are available for evening couch time. We are a group of four and find the size ammenities and space enjoyable..

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

  what a nightmare. Let me start off by telling you our fault. We booked this house almost a year in advance for 4 adults. Over that year, plans changed, more people became interested, and a baby was born. We booked this 3 bedroom house for 4 adults and showed up with 5 and a baby. We did not think this was an issue...we were wrong. After flying all day we arrived and brought our luggage inside and then headed to dinner. When we came back we were confronted by a man on the front porch. We did not know who he was. After a short chat, we realized he was the owner. He started questioning us. He seemed upset. He was upset because he saw that all 3 rooms had luggage in them and he saw baby toys. He saw that because he went into our rental while we were out eating. We thought that was a bit strange, he told us it was his house and he could go in it whenever he felt like it. He was upset that we had 1 more adult than we had made reservations for and that we had a baby. He said, "he doesn't do babies". That was a surprise to us after reading all of the family friendly reviews. We weren't trying to sneak more people in, it was just a misunderstanding. We offered to pay extra, we just wanted to make everything work for everyone. To make a long story short, after another argument we were offered a refund. After we found a new place to stay and packed all of our stuff back up, he then refused to give us our refund. After a 20 minute heated argument we cut a deal. We were there for less than 24 hours and paid for 2 days at a higher rate and the cleaning fee. We decided to do this because we wanted to leave so bad because it was such an uncomfortable "vacation". If he approached this just a little differently, he would have made extra money and had no problems. Instead, he lost a chunk of change and got a horrible review. Things you should know: 1. The house is split up into 3 living areas, There is another upstairs rental, and the owner lives IN THE HOUSE in a separate area. You DO NOT get the house to yourself. 2. Everyone shares the backyard area. 3. The pictures on the website vs. what you see when you walk in.....we were a little disappointed. 4. The house (especially bathrooms) wasnt very clean. Its an older house that they slapped some new paint on, put in some nice furniture, and hung up some pictures. I recognize that our problems started with our booking mistake. They ended with horrible customer service. Once at our new condo, our vacation was great!

This unfortunate situation could have been easily avoided with a simple phone call to discuss the need for a change in party size.What was booked a year earlier as a party of 4 adults arrived on property as a group of 6 young adults plus an infant.When we finally greeted this group and saw how large the party was,we immediately asked them to relocate the extra two adults to another property,so as to conform with our rental agreement.We also explained that in consideration of our neighbors and other guests on property,that we needed to be made aware of infants in the party.Neither of these points were received with much understanding.Considering the late hour,we did accommodate the two extra adults for the first night.Next morning the decision was made that it was in the best interest of the property to terminate this rental entirely.As a solution to this highly unusual and stressful situation,the parties were given an almost complete refund as a relocation incentive fee.We thought that this situation was resolved as amicably as possible especially considering it was a first time ever crisis on property.As to anything else in the review ... we proudly stand by our 48 Clear Photos and 64 Great Guest Reviews!

  Aloha Jonathan!! We just got home last night from our wonderful Hawaiian trip. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home … it was very comfortable for the 3 of us!! The kitchen was perfect for our being able to relax and have breakfast while watching the north-eastern disaster in the making on TV. Steve & Barry loved the chocolates you left for us (I can't vouch for them as I didn't get any :). and you know I appreciated being able to catchup on laundry before we moved on to the Big Island!! We enjoyed many of your recommendations including Pita paradise, Leoda's (I got this one from your daughter's website), Makena beach, SailTrilogy and being able to "evacuate" to Monkeypods!! My only regret is that we didn't get to really enjoy the "oasis" that you have setup in the backyard … it is beautifully laid out and feels very private!! We really appreciate how you orchestrated a Tsunami warning just for us … no Hawaiian vacation would be complete without such a unique experience :) Mahalo, Terry, Barry & Steve

  This was the first and only honeymoon for my husband and I. So, we really wanted everything to be perfect. And, it WAS! We were so glad we chose to stay here rather than a resort or condo. Jonathan made us feel right at home and the place is GORGEOUS! We had some friends drop us off at the house and, I don't think we left the back yard for two days. It's absolutely beautiful. The hot tub is very clean and the neighborhood is established and quiet. All, which made for such a wonderful and relaxing stay. The house is just beautiful! with lovely, hard wood floors, nice and clean bathrooms, a fabulous kitchen, comfy beds and couches, etc. We were able to stay in and cook and relax for a few days before taking on the island with our friends. I really hope we can stay here again next year and for each anniversary we have in the future. I highly recommend Jonathan's property. He also has a smaller one bedroom that we might consider for next year. I'm excited that we know of a place to which we can return.   Jonathan Thank you very much for making us feel right at home in your house. Everything we needed was readily available and your dinner recommendations suited us perfectly. We also had great fun using the snorkel gear,beach chairs,noodles and boogie boards. Thank you for making our "Baby-Moon" memorable and relaxing. We couldn't have chosen better lodging. P.S The chocolate was a nice touch - yum !
