My wife and I spent 5 days in this wonderful lil condo. Its in the best location so renting a car really isnt needed. It is very close to restraunts, stores, the beach and if you need to travel a little farther the bus stops are very close as well. The condo came with everything you have in your own home which is really nice so you dont need to bring all that extra stuff. It is very quite and romantic. We loved ever inch of it. This will be our first choice when we decide to come back for our 1 year anniversary next year. You will not upset for spending your vacation here in this lil condo because it is honestly a home away from home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 9 days in this cozy condo in beuatiful Maui. After having spent so many hours outside to discover the island's treasures it was a nice place to stay. In the kitchen we found everything we needed for preparing our meals. As the owner told us , it was very quite. In the morning we could listen to the singing tropical birds. Actually we didn't have any problems with the water. We really ernjoyed our time there and want to say : Mahalo and aloha. Mark and SusanneDid you find this review helpful? My husband and I returned yesterday from a week stay at Kihei Akahi. We stayed in C420. It is a studio condo, so it had a queen size bed, sofa bed, kitchen, bathroom, washer/dryer and lanai. My husband and I have never been to Hawaii and were looking to try many excursions. When looking for a place to stay in Hawaii we were looking for low cost but high value [for our money]. We found the condo on vrbo.com. It was a bit odd, in comparison to a hotel, in that we had to send a money order instead of paying over the internet. When we arrived we found the complex very easily and the beach across the street looked perfect! Our condo was very clean when we arrived and was in great condition. We had a mountain view, which for the two of us was completely okay. We rarely sat on the lanai other than to eat a quick breakfast a couple mornings. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we would have needed. The bathroom was very clean and updated. The only problem we had with the unit was that the washer is loud and the water in the shower does frequently change from hot to cold or vice versa. I do realize these issues are hard to manage in a condo. In addition, if we rented a hotel we would not have had a washer and dryer at all, so it was awesome to be able to do laundry! We will definetely recommend staying here to our family and friends. We did not use the pools at all, but did frequent many of the area beaches. Our rental had snorkel gear, boogie board, beach towels, beach mats, umbrella, and beach chairs that we could use, which was an awesome feature! Lastly, there is no air conditioning in this unit. I was a bit worried about it when we left, because I do not like being hot when I sleep. Thankfully it does get some great ventilation with the windows open and fans on, and it stayed very comfortable in the unit. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because you are not staying in a 5 start hotel with a concierge, fitness center or other higher end amenities. Thanks so much for the great trip! Mahalo!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in this cozy, comfortable condo for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it! The kitchen is equipped with everything that you could need, (including a vital salad-spinner...thank you Terrie!). It gets morning sun to greet your coffee and breakfast on the lanai, and then the lanai is shaded in the afternoon. We did not miss the A/C..this is a corner unit with lots of natural light and windows to catch the tradewinds. It is right across from Kameole Beach 2 which is perfect for swimming, boogie-boarding, and watching the sunsets. The grounds are beautifully kept, with 2 pools and lounge chairs for when the afternoon winds push you off the beach. We recommend the mexican food at Taquera Cruz...just down the road at the Dolphin Plaza. The food is delicious, very reasonable, and it is BYOB! The owners are very prompt in replying to queries, and most gracious and welcoming. We definitely plan to return!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a comfortable condo in a great location. It is in the process of being updated and still has a couple of issues which the owner is planning to address. The owner is extremely helpful and very prompt at answering concerns. The Kihei Akahi is a good complex, with two pools and BBQ areas, and well looked after. The location is across from Kamaole II Beach Park, and close to restaurants and shops. The rock points between the Kamaole beaches are a good snorkel site and whales can be seen off-shore in winter season. The condo is also on the Maui Bus route so a $2 day pass will take you all over the island. Saturday mornings we took the bus to the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center in Kahului and walked across the street to the biggest Farmers Market/Craft Fair on the island. This is well worth the visit as it is bigger than all the other markets on Maui combined! Look for the sign "Swap Meet" or ask any local in the shopping center. While at Queen K, try out Rubys Dinner for a 40's/50's themed restaraunt. Other eateries we enjoyed are; Pita Paradise (near Foodland), Stella Blues and Peggy Sue's (both in Azeka Place Mall. We did not need to rent a car, except for a few days at the beginning and end of our trip, and this saved mega-bucks.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted. This property is located in a great location (right across from a fabulous beach). The town has lots of restaurants, cafes, etc. in walking distance. The property has lots of amenities including a fabulous swimming pool. The condo has everything you need and isn't missing anything. So, you can travel light and stress free. Overall, I would highly recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a fabulous experience. First off, the owners were always available to answer my questions and responded very quickly - both prior to my stay, during and after. The on-island support person also contacted me while I was there and inquired if there was anything she could do to assist me. The description of the location was bang on. The exterior property was well manicured and the unit itself was in good condition and well cared for. I recommend the five minute walk (literally ACROSS the street) to watch the sunset on the beach. A fabulous bar/restaurant "Freds" is next to the complex and offered affordable food and drinks. A gas station was also closeby with a handful of shops in a strip mall. The best part was how quiet the other owners/tenants were on the property. Even the pool on the property offered a peaceful escape from the beach - and was also well maintained. I work for WestJet airlines and will highly recommend this affordable paradise to my co-workers who are frequent visitors to Maui. My wife and I stayed 2 weeks at this property in August 2011. The complex is older, as you would expect based on its prime location, but you would never know because the grounds and common areas are updated, immaculately clean and well maintained. The building is concrete construction so noise from neighbors is not an issue. The location is perfect with several restaurants and shops within a short walking distance, and one of the nicest beaches in the area right across the street. We rented a car for our stay and found the location provided quick and easy access to the other beaches and snorkel spots in the area. The unit is completely renovated and the furnishings are new and comfortable. (The pictures of this condo on VRBO are entirely accurate.) This little studio condo is the perfect size for a couple, and we really appreciated how modern and well equipped this unit is. Little touches like a washer and dryer in the unit, beach toys, lawn chairs, picnic cooler and a blender that makes the best Piña Coladas, make it feel like you are staying in your own condo. It was also great to have a gas barbecue in the common area (just across the parking lot) for grilling a steak or some Mahi Mahi. This is a condo complex, so there is no room service, evening entertainment, or any of the 5 star features of a big resort, but anyone looking for a very reasonably priced, 'do it yourself' vacation rental with all the comforts of home, will be very happy here.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We found the condo to be immaculate and well furnished. It is a corner unit so you hardly know you have neighbors. The area was perfect for a quick run to the store, shopping, nice places to eat. It is close to the pools and tennis court. The beach across the road is very nice as well. The owners could not have been more accomodating in directions, etc. Our stay was pleasant and relaxing. Just what we hoped for.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We stayed in this unit for the second half of our two week trip to Maui in May, 2011 and enjoyed every bit of it! The location can't be beat, situated right across the street from the ocean with a great snorkeling spot. Just a short walk from many restaurants in amongst a variety of other shops including a health food store! Just steps from the complex is the bus route which can take you anywhere you need to go on the island as well. The property was very clean and well laid out. We'll be back next year for sure!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We found the studio to be quite comfortable & close to many amenities, especially Hawaiian Moon Natural Food Store! Your condo is nicely situated because you get morning sun & not the afternoon sun (by late afternoon we need a respite from the sun :). The condo is also on the quiet end of the complex.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

Fantastic location, very nice complex, unit has everything you need and was clean. It has had some up dated items; The couch was old and uncomfortable but everything else worked. Being a corner unit it had a nice breeze, the AC was not needed. There was some noise from the parking lot at night. Over all it was quiet. The pool and BBQ area was very nice.Recommended for: Age 55+

We have just arrived home after a months stay at this condo. The Condo was very CLEAN and had everything we needed for our holiday. We especially liked the washer and dryer, made life so much easier after a day at the beach!! Although it is a studio, it has everything you need for daily living. The morning sun shines in the window and lanai and the lanai is shaded and cool in the afternoon. There is a a/c, but we didn't need it, as there are ceiling fans and the condo stayed cool all day and night. Another big plus, was the internet, which kept us connected to friends and family throughout the month we were gone from home. I would rent this place again and found the owners, Mac and Maria so very accommadating and easy to deal with.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3

We loved this little condo and can hardly wait to come back to it. It is perfectly located, across the road from Kama'ole II; it is comfortable, complete even to the beach stuff, like chairs and a beach bag for books and sun screen; it feels much more spacious than you would think, for a studio; and there is nowhere else we would rather be on Maui. Many thanks to Mac and Maria for making this wonderful little nest-like retreat available!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3
