We stayed at the Gollywobbler for an extended weekend and had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone, especially pet owners. The location is perfect and the house has anything and everything you might need. We especially liked the location between the marsh and the ocean. Eric makes the whole rental process stress free and is very accommodating. We look forward to being able to vacation at the Gollywobbler again, and again, and again.

My family rented this property the last week of May. It was a beautiful house, clean and was just as it was advertised on vrbo. Our dogs were comfortable in the house and on the porches. You could not tell that dogs had even been there (ie damage, odor, scratches etc.) The outdoor shower was amazing. The owner was very prompt at returning emails and answering questions. He also let us add one night to accommodate our dates. Perfect house and situation for us and we would definately rent this one again!!!!

The Gollywobber was perfectly accommodating for our group of 7 people. Plenty of bedrooms and porch space and a giant kitchen table. One thing I may suggest to future renters - be sure to bring hand soap, dish detergent, and clothes detergent as none were provided. The location was great - close to the beach and the marsh and some good restaurants. Eric was very helpful in being sure we had all the information we needed for the weekend that we stayed. Check out was simple and painless and the cleaning crew handles the majority of it. I love the idea of having the option to bring your own linens/towels or have them provided - we paid the extra $75 for the linen service for convenience and it was well worth it. Thanks again for the wonderful weekend!!!
Owner response:Thanks very much for the kind note about the Gollywobbler. Our linen service is excellent and it is included in the price of week-long rentals during the high season! Eric

Our family stayed the week of March 14 through 20 and we had a great time. It seem so much like home that the children, young adults and all enjoyed it. It is very close to the beach and plenty of room for the 10 of us. The water was a little cold at that time but it was in March. Oak Island is a beautiful area and I would recommend anyone to stay here. We are planning to come back next year.Great for pets!

My family really enjoyed their visit to Oak Island and the Gollywobbler helped make our vacation a hit. The house is in a great location and very clean. The front porch was a wonderful gathering place and a place for relaxation. Creek and ocean access were great for family even with a baby. Canoe was a great plus.

Fun in the sun, the sound of the sea, playing in the sand, paddling and exploring in the marsh,so many things to do and still plenty of time to relax in very comfortable surroundings. The whole family loved our stay at the Gollywobbler and can't wait to get back!

Stayed at the Gollywobbler this weekend with friends and dogs...couldn't have been a better experience! The super easy access to the beach and the views from the various decks at different times of day were great. Next time, we just want to go for longer! If you don't need high-end luxury on your vacation, but rather just pure comfort, relaxation, and a good time...this is the house for you. (and p.s....the beds are comfortable...a rarity on a beach vacation in my experience).

The family loved the house at Oak Island. The bright decor, with lots of windows and large front porch makes for a relaxing time. The kitchen will well equiped for any kind of meals. We enjoyed grilling. The beach was just a few steps at away, really nice area, quiet and we connected to a neighbors wi-fi..fast internet. My Husband and I met on Long Beach 27 years ago, and we felt like we had come back home. Thanks for a lovely vacation and we plan to come back in the fall. Brenda & Ike from Anderson SC

Just spent the weekend at Gollywobbler with my husband and had a great time. The house is 3rd row but the views are great! Beach access is directly across from the house (just cross 2 streets). And we saw the most amazing sunset from the back marsh area. Eric was great to work with and we were thrilled to be able to take our dog. The beaches are beautiful - we did lots of walking and exploring. And were able to get into Southport for some touring and lunch. Besides all the decks and close beach access, our favorite things about the house were all the wonderful windows (tons of sunlight) in the family room/kitchen and an awesome shower in the downstairs bathroom. Thanks for a great weekend.

Our family had a wonderful time at the Gollywobbler. The house is awesome and close enough to the beach to make access easy. Vacationing at Oak Island was more enjoyable than any we've had at Myrtle.

Thank you very much for providing such a wonderful place to stay. The house was in a great location and very clean. We enjoyed our trip in May. We didn't catch many fish, but maybe we will try the fall next time. Once again thank you. I would recomend this house to anyone!

We had a great time at the Gollywobbler. It was the relaxing vacation we needed. The house had plenty of room for our little ones to run around a little, and they loved their room with the two twin beds. All the other rooms were nice too. The kitchen had everything we needed. We took the canoe out one day into the marsh, but no luck catching any shrimp, so it's not quite as easy as some of the reviews make it seem. The views from the decks were probably our favorite part of the home, and how it was just a couple hundred yards away from the beach. Overall we were happy with just about everything. Potential improvements could be another TV upstairs or a nicer one in the main area, as during a couple of the nights we ended up watching movies as a family. The Oak Island area was very cute. We went to the BBQ place up the street that was great, and also found a nice place called Tropical Treats I think across the street that we went to a few different times for ice cream and coffee drinks. We also went into Southport one day and ate at the Cape Fear Restaurant right on the water which was amazing.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Gollywobbler! The house is very nicely furnished with great proximity to the beach. It had everything we could have needed in a vacation rental, and Oak Island lived up to expectations. Thanks so much, Eric!

This is a beautiful house with lots of room for family and friends. Located between the Marsh (great for catching bait) and the ocean, it is the perfect location. The kitchen was stocked with anything you would need and the decks provided amazing views. Be sure to notice the beautiful artwork.

We had an excellent vacation on Oak Island at the Gollywobbler. The pictures do not do the house justice. It is a beautiful home and very spacious. This vacation was a Christmas gift to my son and step sons. We had not had a chance to all get together in over 10 years. The house and location were perfect. We played on the beach all day and games at the large kitchen table most of the night! The well equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare most of the meals at the house. I took chairs, boggie boards and sand buckets but the house had plenty! I visit Oak Island a lot, have friends there, the Island is a wonderful place for a family vacation. The Gollywobbler is the best deal going on the beach!

I do not think we have had a better vacation!!! We, the whole family, absolutely loved the Gollywobbler. Everything was perfect. The ocean and the marsh are the perfect distance. The kids spent so much time at the marsh trying to catch shrimp. It was wonderful to be able to look off the back deck and check on them. They were able to be teenagers and have a little freedom. We have found the perfect house for our future vacations. My husband and I actually want to try and go down during the winter for some fishing.

This was our first visit to Oak Island and the Gollywobbler was a great home for enjoying this peaceful beach. It was very roomy and offered a wonderful view of both the beach and the marsh. We especially enjoyed rocking on the large covered porch with the island breezes. The kitchen was well equipped and we felt very comfortable in this home. We also enjoyed the artwork throughout the house and the added special touches provided by the owners. The Wilsons Acworth, GA

We absolutely loved the Gollywobbler. I am ready to move to Oak Island. My husband and I have rented houses at the beach before, but this one was by far the best. We have two small children and there were plenty of beach toys for us to use. The location to the beach is great as well - just a block and a half down a side street. The house also felt very homey - not like a barren rental. We will definitely be back to the Gollywobbler.

We had a great stay at the Gollywobbler. We wanted a low-key quiet vacation, and Oak Island was perfect. The outside shower was terrific. You must try Haag & Sons Seafood. It is a fish market with the freshest fish you can find without catching it yourself. We grilled out everynight. The Gollywobbler is great if you want to catch your own shrimp too!

We had a fabulous time at the Gollywobbler! We loved the island, Southport, the ocean (of course) and the marsh. The canoe was so much fun, and the kitchen was awesome - well stocked and spacious. We grilled out on the charcoal grill, relaxed on the many decks, enjoyed a movie or two at night... it was perfect. We'll be back!

What a great time we had at the Gollywobbler! Our vacation week was the last week of June until the first Saturday of July. The house is wonderfully located on a quiet, child-friendly street with a very short walk to the beach and a great, relaxing view of the marsh. Our only regret is that we did not take the time to use the canoe on the marsh - the children were having too good of a time at the beach! For me, the best part was being able to watch the 4th of July Fireworks display from the front porches!!! I was amazed at how many cars came onto the island to see the fireworks while we were able to sit on the porches with nice cool refreshing drinks in our pjs to watch the show. Now that is the life! We hope to return next year and now I realize that I shouldn't have told everyone how great that weekend is because we probably won't get it again....

Here is an email we got from the O'Dells that we are including with their permission. Max and Eric: We had a great time at the Gollywobbler. Everything was great. We utilized most of the toys and it is was great having them there. Less stuff we had to pack up to bring! Sorry I haven't gotten back to you -- missing a week of work and coming back is never fun so I was trying to get back on track w/everything last week!!! The kitchen was great also....we cooked/grilled out every night but one and had everything we needed. The dogs loved it....our 1 year old lab was in the water just about the whole time and the older one dug a hole and chilled under the umbrella! It was great being able to bring them! We are already looking forward to returning next year! Thanks again for a great house for the week!!

We stayed at the Gollywobbler the first week of August and it was GREAT!! AWESOME location...It was our first time visiting a beach in NC and we will probably return to Oak Island next year, etc. We loved the house and all of the amenities provided. The beach access was easy and also not very crowded so that was nice. We caught many crabs, shrimp, fish etc. in the marsh behind the house. The beach was great and the views from the decks were very beautiful and relaxing!! Our black labs also enjoyed swimming everyday and chilling in the sand. Look forward to visiting again soon!!!

The Gollywobbler was the perfect place to spend our week vacation by the shore. It had everything we needed and much more. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great beach house on Oak Island. The beach was just a short walk down the access road and the sound just steps from the back of the house. There are plenty of beach "extras" like chairs, canoe, games, surf boards, bikes to please all ages of the family. We had a wonderful time - thanks for sharing your lovely home. Hope to visit again next year!

Our stay at the Gollywobbler was just the best vacation ever with our children and grandchildren! The house was very accommodating with plenty of room for our family of 8. The location is perfect with the marsh behind the house and the beach a short walk away. The ocean views are beautiful. The quiet, slow pace of the area was just what we were looking for - we hope to come back to the Gollywobbler next year.

Over the past 15 years my family has rented beach houses at many different NC beaches. The Gollywobbler is the best house we've ever stayed at. The location, between the marsh and the beach, is ideal. The beach is beautiful, as are the views from the upper decks. We really appreciated all of the ammenities: beach chairs, boogie boards, throw net, dvd's, video's and games. The kitchen was well stocked. We can't wait to return to the Gollywobbler.
