And our vacation rental philosophy is quite simple really -- we think you should spend your money enjoying everything that Bald Head Island has to offer -- not paying for your vacation rental! This is why we are so committed to providing as relaxing accommodations as possible while at the same time keeping our rental fees as reasonable as possible. That means you enjoy the amenities you've come to expect...but at a price that will pleasantly surprise you!
A 10% rental discount is ALWAYS available for weekly reservations made prior to April 1st each year, and return guests ALWAYS receive an additional 5% discount on weekly rental rates! And there is no increase in your rate or minimum requirement in the number of days you must stay simply because you're vacationing over a holiday. Special 2- and 3- night weekend rates are available in the spring and fall seasons - perfect for a golf trip, wedding, family reunion or a special get-a-way weekend. We simply don't believe there is a better value on the island, and we are absolutely committed to doing all we can to help you plan and enjoy your BHI experience! That means personal attention to you and all the details! You're dealing with owners who want you to enjoy their home as much as they do - no agencies, property managers... or additional hidden fees!
Your ultimate vacation begins as soon as you board the ferry for Bald Head Island at Southport's new ferry facilities. Now it's time to kick back and relax! The 20-minute ferry ride to the island fills you with the anticipation of knowing that for the next week or so, you're on "Turtle Time"! For those of you who've been there - you know what we're talking about. For you first-timers, it's nothing like you've experienced before!
Nature abounds around our comfortable, fully-furnished, 3-bedroom, 2-bath enchanted cottage home. Nestled in the maritime forest, amid the ancient live oaks and sabal palm trees, this charming family home is surrounded by a deck, with a screened-in crofter/gazebo attached. Our delightful cottage also features a garage, with a (6) six-person golf cart provided. Tooling around on the island in the cart (remember - the speed limit is 18 mph!) is half the fun of getting to your island destination! The decor and numerous amenities add to its charm, comfort, and ambiance. We've tried to think of every detail, from the numerous games and DVD/VCR movies on site to the wireless internet; from the Egyptian cotton sheets to the featherbed toppers in every room. The kitchen has been completely updated and provides the equipment that makes meal preparation a pleasure. It's the perfect setting for your family vacation - including your well-behaved dog! Enjoy the hustle and bustle of all the island has to offer during the day -- swimming, golf, tennis, kayaking, biking and hiking -- it's always nicer to return to your home in the quiet, secluded forest for a relaxing evening.
Centrally located on Edward Teach Wynd, our home is just minutes away from the harbor area, "Old Baldy", the chapel, creek access, golf course, both clubs and conveniently located near the Maritime Market, hardware store, recently opened spa and gift shops. It's less than a 3-minute golf cart ride to the beach! If you're into golf, tennis, or croquet, or just prefer lounging by the pool with a good book, temporary memberships at both the Bald Head Island Club and the Shoals Club are available to purchase for your use and enjoyment. You decide where you want to go, when you want to go and for how long. Our memberships at both clubs provide you with the flexibility your family seeks in planning your ultimate vacation. Why the Owner Chose Bald Head Island
We immediately fell in love with Bald Head Island when we started vacationing there in 1999. Although we enjoy the beach, we were particularly taken with the maritime forest environment. The stars aligned in 2005 when we were able to purchase our BHI home. Since then, it's been a "labor of love", and we're always making improvements and adding amenities to our little cottage in the forest for all to enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We enjoy all the activities the island has to offer during the day, but we particularly appreciate being able to return to our home in the quiet, secluded forest for the evening. Our cottage really is the perfect size for a family vacation. It's so comfortable that most of our guests relate they immediately had that "at home" feeling right after they arrived. When we're joined by family and friends, it truly is "Mears Merritime"!

We're just a 2-minute ride away from the market, hardware store gift and ice cream shops and the new spa!

"Thanks so much again for renting your lovely home to me and my daughter for one night. Your home reminded us of a mountain home and we decided you guys have the best of both worlds ~ a mountain home on an island at the beach! We enjoyed sightseeing on the island, a good lunch at Eb & Flo's, a pizza for dinner, along with an ice cream cone! We watched a movie...from your nice movie collection which I thoroughly enjoyed....Although the weather was not conducive to sitting on the beach, nevertheless, we truly enjoyed our visit!"

"We so enjoyed your delightful home on Bald head Island. The only bad part about it was having to leave! Your housekeeping service had done a great job. Everything was in fine shape.
