Captain John Fripp Villas villa description
Our immaculate oceanfront villa has a charming balcony overlooking the beach where you can sit to eat and watch the dolphins play. This is the only 24 hour beach on Fripp Island. The villa has updated and charming decor and facilities. The first floor of the unit contains the foyer, laundry room, fully-equipped kitchen, half bath, balcony and dining/living room area (with CD system, cable TV/HBO/DVD/VCR). Upstairs are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed, full bath, cable TV/HBO/DVD/VCR and awesome view of the ocean. The second bedroom has two twins which can be set up as a king, a cable TV/DVD/VCR and a full bath off the hall. Both bedrooms have plenty of storage space with dressers and two double closets each. Both baths have tub/shower combos. Each floor has its own AC control. Beach chairs and beach toys are provided in the wooden fenced garbage can area.
Fripp is a private island and use of the many pools, several on-island restaurants and stores is by AMENITY CARD only; provided free to our renters. Golf fees are discounted for amenity card holders.
One of the Captain John Fripp Villas' amenities is a private pool only for their use. Easy beach access is next to the building. The Fripp Beach Club complex is next door. This includes a beachfront bar, adult pool, restaurant, olympic pool, fitness center, small food court and several shops. The tennis shop and courts are across the street.
Outstanding family vacations are easy at Fripp. The island has only one road in. During peak season family and teen activities are arranged on a weekly calendar. Camp Fripp is available M-F for children 3-12. Twice a week Kid's night out is offered to give children a chance to get away from their parents and enjoy dinner and activities for the evening! The Cabana Club pool complex offers a wading pool for toddlers, a three foot deep pool with mist cave for older kids and a deeper pool for adults and other children. An adjoining cafe provides lunch and snacks. Also located here are a small store and changing facilities. A playground and ball playing area provide a beach/pool break. Bikes are available for rent and there is a beautiful paved biking/walking trail down the middle of the island. Canoes and boats may also be rented at the marina.
Two exceptional golf courses are available on the island. One is an oceanfront course rated 4 by Golf Digest. The second is an award winning Davis Love III Golf Course in a beautiful marsh setting (occasionally populated by different species of wildlife!) rated 4.5.
Call us for any questions and to arrange your 20% discount off regular rates. Or, weekly renters may chose a 10% discount and a FREE golf cart to use on the island. Enjoy!

Perfect vacation getaway!
Perfect vacation getaway!
We had an absolutely wonderful time in this little villa. Everything worked beautifully and we had no issues at all. The location is perfect for beach lovers like us! The villa is decorated so lovely and really has that "beach house" feel. We were so happy to have choosen this place and will definitely be back!!

I recently stayed in this unit with my family and found it to be as advertised. The unit looked just like the photos on the web site and the location of this unit is perfect. I personally found the unit to be extremely well equipped for cooking and comfortable. Our family had such a great time, we look forward to another vacation in this unit if available. Vacations are made for memories and this visit certainly did not disappoint.

Idyllic location; mixed reality inside
Idyllic location; mixed reality inside
Perhaps the reality matched the description and pictures years ago, but we found this unit to be far from immaculate and updated. The smell of mold was overpowering and continually irritating. The carpet, floors, upholstery were filthy; the first floor, in particular, was in need of a good coat of paint if not redecoration. The kitchen was falling apart (featured by a dishwasher that came disconnected from the wall) and lacked basics for anyone who wanted to cook with more than one saucepan that had a lid or who wanted more varied serviceware than a tall pile of dinnerplates. The view from the deck was incredible and unmatched. Accessibility to the beach and pool was inviting. We would rent it again in a minute if the reality truly matched the description.

Manager response: As one of the owners of this property, I was very disturbed to learn of this guest’s experience in our Villa. Fripp Island and our vacation home offer us a respite from the every day - and it is this that we hope to share with our guests. We were contacted during the guest’s stay by the Fripp Island Resort Company, who manage the property for us, and alerted to the situation with the mold when the guest first complained about it on August 11. Two of the resort's directors visited the guest regarding the mold problem and offered to relocate her and her companion to a new location. The guests declined the offer and elected to remain in the unit. The low country experienced an exceptionally hot and humid summer and many ocean front properties experienced mold problems for the first time. Mold remediation could not be performed while the guest was in residence but upon her check-out we hired a professional to remove the mold and provide remedies to keep it from returning in the future. Then the entire unit was thoroughly cleaned. We regret the fact that the dishwasher broke loose from the wall during the guests stay. When informed the resort sent on-site maintenance to repair the problem. We are unsure what else was wrong with the kitchen as new kitchen cabinetry was installed five years ago and the unit is fully stocked with glasses, cups, dishes, silverware and cooking pots and pans. When we received this VRBO review we immediately contacted the resort to more thoroughly examine the facts surrounding her stay. They informed us at this time of the housekeeping issues that she encountered at check-in, admitted fault on their part, and explained that they responded by sending a housekeeping crew in to remedy the situation. The décor of an accommodation or unit is a matter of taste but an unclean unit is unacceptable on any terms. We were in residence in September and feel that after the remediation of the mold issue and a thorough cleaning the photos displayed in our VRBO listing are indicative of the villa that will greet guests on their arrival. We rent through the Fripp Island Resort Company so that there is an on-site service available to fix any problems experience or to provide an alternate accommodation if the problem can’t be immediately fixed. We are deeply sorry that this guest’s experience was less than ideal since we are committed to making this beautiful villa a wonderful vacation experience for our guests.
The island is beautiful! We spent 2 nights there this past weekend and it just wasnt enough. The condo looks exactly like the photos posted. The beach is only several steps away. When the tide goes out it makes several tidal pools that you can wade out to from the beach that is in only ankle deep water. Collected several pretty shells, saw deer, lots of crabs, and saw dolphins from our balcony our last morning there. We bought "YUMMY" shrimp from the Gay fish company that is located on your right before crossing the last bridge to the island at 7.00 per pound for very large, very fresh shrimp. Janet, the owner is a jewel. Very helpful and sweet. Lillian at the main desk at check in was very helpful also. The pool that is connected to this condo is very private. We had it to ourselves all weekend... smiles! The water was almost too warm but refreshing from the 89 degree weather. There is a hot tub at The Cabana Club that is also open for your use. It was nice to soothe tired muscles after the 5.5 hour drive from Commerce Ga. We should have rented a golf cart as most people use these rather than cars. Much easier to get to the other beaches and closer parking to them. The marshes were breath taking at sunrise and sunset. It is very dark on the beach and island after sunset due to few street lamps, but a flashlight works great by the light of the moon. It was a full moon when we were there. The entertainment at the beachclub was great, Reggee, jazz, fun music. Drinks are reasonably priced. Food at the beach club was pricey but the steak was very good. Bring beach chairs, a cooler, and beach towels. Also bring a cracker for any fresh crabs you may catch as there was not one there. The condo was clean, beds pretty comfy, the water pressure in showers was great. I would rent this condo again.

This is a GREAT unit - clean and bright, but mostly, it's literally right on the beach. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the waves go by. The beach out front is interesting in that it's very flat. This makes for especially great skim-boarding. It's also perfect sand (hard-pack) for jogging. We plan to stay here again next year.
