Ka Hale Huna offered peaceful tranquility and beautiful views from our private lanai. Morning wake up calls were provided compliments of the tropical birds in the canopy just outside our door. We were welcomed with a basket of fresh fruit havested from Char's lovingly tended gardens, macadamia nuts, and 100% Kona coffee. The personal garden tour is not to be missed. Char's personal knowledge of the area proved quite valuable, as she provided advice on the best eateries and places to visit, often frequented by only the locals "in the know". We will most certainly return to Ka Hale Huna on our next visit to the North Shore.

We loved waking up to the birds singing and enjoyed our pleasant accommodations. This is a tranquil setting over looking the tree tops with a great view of the ocean sun sets from a private balcony. Char has created a lovely botanical garden on their property and was happy to share her knowledge of the flowers, trees and fruits on the grounds. We'll be back and would recommend this as a perfect secluded get away home away from home.

My wife and I just returned from a one week stay in Chars rental and it was fantastic!! Upon our arrival Char had left us a lovely basket of fresh picked fruits from her garden and Kona coffee. The coffee was much needed (due to the time difference), but the tasty fruit was a blessing! While we were there, a strawberry guava tree was bearing fruit right off the deck...we indulged every morning! Char gave us a very insightful tour of her amazing garden, the flowers and birds are beautiful...we even saw some wild parrots. The sunset view off the deck is second to none, and we even saw two green flashes! Honolulu is only one hour away by car, and Haliewa is also very close by...maybe 15mins depending on traffic. We went snorkeling at Waimea almost every day and even took surfing lessons...if you go to Waimea, plan on arriving early to get a good parking spot. In the winter months the North Shore is legendary for its world class surf breaks, and even if you aren't a surfer the waves are still a beautiful sight. There are the remains of a heiau right down the street...the remains of an ancient Hawaiian temple. The ruins are spectacular, but remember to be respectful if you visit. If you prefer to travel off the beaten path...this place is a MUST SEE!!!! Away from all the hustle/bustle that is the city of Honolulu, this peaceful and romantic getaway offered us peace and tranquility.

This was a great experience.Rental was peaceful, away from the busy beach scene and immaculate. Renters(Chris and Char) were delightful and helpful. Garden was delightful and view into small valley below leading to distant water view from your deck was beautiful. You must have a rental car and be able climb a flight of stairs. No pool or resort amenities but considerably more private and restful.

This place gets away from it all. Beautiful view. peaceful gardens. Lots of birds. Tropical paradise. Beaches on north shore are magnificent. wish we had stayed longer. Only one hour from honolulu. Great food in Haliewa. Only drawback was driving on the only road to Haliewa on weekends could be a bear at times. Beach at Waimea bay is perfect. See Waimea Valley, the Heaiu, turtle beach. Polynesian Cultural Center is a short drive. Shrimp trucks on northern point are great.

I definitely recommend staying here. The garden is almost unreal it's so beautiful; the views from the balcony are breathtaking, and Shark's Cove (just down the street) is full of the most amazing fish -- who could care less that you're swimming just inches from them. The pipeline is only minutes away, and it's worth popping over just to watch a few minutes of surfing. There's also a grocery store at the bottom of the hill -- so you can save a little money by not having to eat out for every meal. Only thing to be aware of -- if you're going to try to sleep in late, you might want to bring ear plugs or something. Personally, I thought it was nice to wake up with the sunrise and to the sounds of the birds (even some roosters crowing), but if you're a sleep-til-noon vacationer, you'll probably have to do something to block them out. Don't forget to account for your time difference though! For us, waking up at sunrise was almost the same as sleeping til noon! -Jen

Ka Hale Huna is beautiful and peaceful, just what we needed to come back to at the end of each busy day. Char and Chris are wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful. We would recommend Ka Hale Huna to anyone looking for a place to stay on the North Shore. It's clean, close to all amenities and the beach yet quiet and serene. We loved our stay!

Ka Hale Huna was the perfect place for our honeymoon! There was an absolutely beautiful view from the rental property. Char was a splendid hostess. It was always nice to come home and see her. She had great suggestions and directions to get us from here to there too. Thanks to Char we found one of the Lost sets and the same day we saw Terry O'Quinn (John Locke) out and about! We are major Lost fans so this was very cool. The room was very clean & comfortable, perfect for those lazy mornings. I would love to take home the bed & pillows. Char's gardens are breath taking along with the awesome fruit/bread/coffee basket she had waiting for us. I LOVE the passion fruit jelly and cannot stop thinking about it. Overall, we couldn't ask for a better experience. Char and the rental property definitely influenced our outlook on Hawaii and the laid back culture of the north shore. We recommend this place through and through to anybody. We cannot thank Char enough for her hospitality and opening her beautiful home to us. Mahalo & aloha!

Just returned home from our stay at Ka Hale Huna in Oahu's North Shore. We were 100% satisfied and had a wonderful time. The rental was exceptionally clean and tidy with spectacular views. We couldn't feel more relaxed. If you are looking for your own little hideaway to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life than this is for you! Char's garden and grounds were beautiful and interesting for us to explore given that we come from the east coast. We admire Char and Chris for being able to call Ka Hale Huna home and feel blessed for being able to call it our home for the last 5 days. Would definately return again!

We have nothing but good things to say about our stay at Ka Hale Huna. The place was clean and well kept, the daily fresh fruit from Char's garden was just amazing and I felt like waking up in paradise every morning when I woke up to birds, roosters crowing. My husband enjoyed grilling out on vacation; the grocery store is just minutes away. Wonderful beaches are nearby such as Turtle Bay (public access although a resort is there) invite to snorkeling and we watched surfers and sunsets, turtles, and seals, all within 10-15 minutes of driving from the perfect getaway. A trip to Honolulu and the famous Waikiki beach made me realize just how fortunate we were to stay away from overcrowded beaches and hotel after hotel. Instead, we truly experienced paradise. Char and Chris were wonderful hosts, we called them many times to ask about where to go and what to do and they gave us many tips and info. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to stay away from tourist crowds and overpriced food. On the flight home, we spoke to a few other tourists who were staying in Honolulu and were disappointed. I hope to be able to return to Oahu soon and would not think of staying anywhere else on that island.
