My wife, son, and I spent five great days in Vienna and were very comfortable in Edith's apartment. There was plenty of room for us (we slept downstairs while our son had a big bed in an upstairs loft), two bathrooms, and the main kitchen was well supplied when the local market was closed. The furnishings are truly wonderful - many carpets and comfortable chairs. Edith gave us clear directions for the public transportation, recommended restaurants and other local attractions (like the wonderful flea & farmers markets at Kettenbruckengasse on the way to Schonbrunn), and served us a characteristic Viennese breakfast. The location is great too, just a couple of blocks from the Ring. Wonderful place to stay!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We are a family of four who stayed in Vienna over the New Years weekend with another family. The apartment was a great location (easy walk to the center, close to public transport) and comfortable. As described in other reviews, the apartments do not really offer separate rooms per se - but rather a sleeping loft and a big comfortable, eclectic living room with comfortable beds. Edith was very generous with her time and ideas. She arranged dance lessons (viennese waltz) with a private instructor, offered to teach us how to make strudel, arranged taxis and enthusiastically provided recommendations about where to go and not to go to tap into authentic vienna. She offered to make us a special new years meal and provided the kids with gift. Thank you, Edith, for your kindness and support. We had a great stay.Did you find this review helpful? We loved it! And Edith! Perfect location and fabulous hostess! Delicious Christmas eve dinner, a tour of the Vienna woods and Grinzing. Super recommendations on restaurants and where to go in the city. We felt as if we were at our grandmothers/mothers home. We hope to go back again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

My son and I stayed 2 weeks in the Buddha Suite at this charming B&B in the heart of Vienna. We highly recommend it. The rooms are huge by European standards yet quite comfy. Our host, Edith, is quite charming and takes good care of her guests. The home is truly a Bed & Breakfast where you feel at home and part of the family unlike many modern B&Bs where you just feel like your in a small hotel. We loved our stay and Edith. She made arrangements for us to see the sites and even to visit Budapest for a few days where we stayed at another charming B&B run by her son. The home is Vienna is centrally located, near to everything including the public transport. We could walk to all the sites in the old district and our daily trip by U-Bahn to the university for our robotics conference was easy and quick. We were also able to quickly get the city tram and the bus to travel to places outside the historic district. We are looking forward to visiting here again this coming spring. Thanks Edith!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1948
About the owner: This centrally located B&B in Vienna's prestigious first district is our family's nest since the WWII ended. It contains nostalgic treasures collected (rather rescued from the war) since 1890. We opened our historic home for quests to share and enjoy with us the past elegance and beauty in Vienna and in Budapest. It was handed down, as on the picture: Ms Edith grandmother; a teacher, film-maker, business-woman, writer-poet... Laszlo the son: 1988 olympean, 1989 US national champion and athlet of the year, sport-organizer, businessman.. Vivien grand-daughter (age18) dance-competitor /Latin and ballroom/ preparing for a great carrier. Our US home is in San Antonio, Texas - one of the most 10 unique cities of the USA. Of course the home has its European / Hungarian flavor. Despite of the renovation we kept the original style and added carefully modern facilities as air-condition, central heating, modernized bathrooms. It has been and it is a pleasure to accept the complements of smiling faces and greet them on their return.
Why the Owner Chose Vienna:
The great inheritance of the family is our treasure box, but happy to be able to share.
Motto:
The true happiness comes from sharing, giving and love.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
If you choose to stay in our B&B you may expect everything you would in a classy hotel and much more as flexibility, customized care and personal attention. Our city tours are guiding the guests to hidden sites and history in every step we go.
Vienna's best location: despite in the center, guiet with a park and play-ground in front, close to public transportation stops, but no noise from the trams.
