We stayed here from 25 to 30 April, 2012 in a group of nine. There were no real bedrooms in the house, only two living rooms with various arrangements for beds and two lofts with real beds. My sister (aged 70) had to sleep on a rolled arm couch, her feet went up on one end and her head on the other. I'm 74 and had to sleep on a sort of fold-out that was very lumpy. When I mentioned this, I was told to sleep sideways of the bed, which was about 4 ½ feet wide. Both of these "beds" were in a living room and open to all sorts of traffic. Every flat surface in the house was covered with knick-knacks, so there was no space to put luggage or personal things. The bathroom available to me was a half bath, which had only a toilet and small sink with cold water only! The whole place was overcrowded with old furniture of every sort, making it almost impossible to move around. The stairways to the lofts were narrow and slippery. Does anyone ever inspect these offerings to see that the descriptions are accurate and the accommodations safe??
Owner response:The review above by guests (two elderly ladies, one recently hospitalized with a back surgery) came to join their families competing in the International Robotics Competition held in Vienna. They arranged their accommodations with the Robotics Team Leader Linda who also submitted a review in a very positive manner (see above). The two suites available to them, can sleep 3 couples and 4 singles with 2 kids comfortably. The suites have their own bath/WC in addition to an extra WC separately. When the two ladies arrived the suites were already full and stacked with parts of the robotics equipment that the team members used to assemble in the suites. Obviously the environment was crowded, but they knew this and asked for discounted prices for their short stay. No recommendations were requested from the in-keeper as to where they should sleep. That was arranged among themselves, seems without concern to their grandmotherly needs. As for having the B&B full with furnishings that is considered old, well this is what makes our place special, with over 100 years old antiques and decoration that provides a taste of the old world (Vienna) specifically focusing on the Baroque style and the family's history. The Buddha suite happens to have carved temple doors, oriental decor to show its original resident who was a Indian diplomat before World War One. Perhaps the ladies would like to come back for a stay without a crowded family event and we can provide a private history lesson to them.

My husband and I stayed here in May, 2011 for 4 nights. Ms Edith was most helpful in suggesting places to visit and showed us how to get around. Not only did she meet us at the bus station, but returned to a different station with us upon our departure. We also enjoyed an orientation walk with her around Vienna. This is an excellent location from which to connect to tram, bus and metro, and there are places to eat nearby.

We stayed with Ms. Edith in mid-March. We were travelling with children. The location is easy to find from both tram and metro. The touring sites were very accessible from the apartment. The best find was the playground directly across the street. The accomodations are clean and spacious. Ms. Edith is very warm and accomodating. The location had many resturaunts with in two blocks both high-end and family friendly. Can't wait to return!
Owner response:Dear Nancy and Family, Thank you for the positive review of your stay at my Vienna B&B and I am glad your experience was also positive. I look forward to your and/or friends' visit in the future to any of our B&B accommodations in Budapest, Vienna or San Antonio. Have a great Spring and Summer! Regards, Ms. Edith

Our group of 8 (ranging in age from 9 to 80+), converged in Vienna and had a wonderful 3 day stay in this eclectic apartment. Ms. Edith, a teacher, poet, world traveler and music lover, made this stay even more memorable. She truly worked to make our stay in Vienna wonderful and bring it to life in a special way, We spent our first day taking a city tour lead by Ms. Edith. Her advice on places to eat and shop and her recommendations were spot on! The apartment’s central location and close proximity to transportation made exploring on our own a breeze! Our departure was made easier with the help of Alex, arrived on time and transported us to the Vienna airport at a reasonable price. We will return to this unique apartment and beautiful city again!

My family stayed with Ms. Edith during February 2011. We were thrilled with the location of the apartment and how much room we had. The location is central for finding whatever we wanted reasonabily easily. Our children, 9, 11 and 13, enjoyed the park across the street. A bonus is being able to view the park from the windows. We appreciated Ms. Edith's suggestions on places to go and where to eat. She even outfitted the family for a trip into the "Little Alps" to play in the snow! I never thought I would wear real fur! It truly is warm! Her hot cereal, liverworst with toasted bread fueled us to find whatever adventure we could. We especially enjoyed the ice skating nearby. We shared an interesting room with an upstairs loft and kitchenette. There were enough beds for all of us! If and when we return, I'll bring my own pillow for my cranky neck. Ms. Edith is a dynamo that impressed each of us! It was almost as much fun to visit with her and stay in-doors than exploring Vienna. I was thrilled to be able to purchase her autobiographical book as a gift for my Hungarian uncle. We will never forget our first trip to Vienna and will only wish to return until that day!
Owner response:Dear Ms.Sharon and Family, it was a joy to meet you. Thank you for your kind review and looking forward to your next visit. Best regards, Ms.Edith

My husband and I stayed with Edith for 4 nights and enjoyed our accomodations very much. We loved the feeling of our suite and felt quite at home there. Edith was extremely helpful with suggestions about where, what and how in Vienna and was a wonderful source of information as we processed the new rush of history our trip to Hungary and Austria had brought on. The location was extremely convenient to anything we wanted to do. It was very close to transportation though our feet could also get us most anyplace we needed to go. I can recommend Edith's place to anyone interested in a stay in Vienna. Thank you, Edith.

My family (myself, husband and 2 teenage boys) stayed in the Baroque Suite. It was wonderfully comfy and plenty of space for the 4 of us to spread out. Edith is a wonderful hostess. Her English is excellent, her recommendations for site seeing were spot on and her delicious breakfast sent us on our way for the day feeling full and excited. Perfect location to walk to everything. My teenage boys even enjoyed the park across the street. After only 2 short nights with her, all I can say is we will miss her and definitely ---- until we meet again!!!

Edith was both knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms were full of interesting family items. Breakfast was lovely and it was made better by the hostess joining us. The locaion was great, as we could walk to most places and take the convient public transport to the others. This was a fun first stop on our trip.

Was this ever the best place to stay! close to the finish line of the Vienna Marathon, clean, safe, public transport only minutes away. The Buddha apartment is clean, large and separate sleeping area available for our son as well. Ms Edith catered extremely well with any unusual breakfast requirements, as well as being extremely helpful with general tourist information, in fact, we will miss her. The apartment is situated in the 'old part' of beautiful Vienna, central, safe, quiet and just so interesting and lovely with antiques, original paintings and comfy beds. You can't go past this place if you are looking to stay in Vienna. The tariff is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Our family of seven had the most wonderful Christmas in Vienna and we have Edith's warm hospitality and unique apartments to thank. The position was very convenient and even when the city was blanketed in snow we were able to find our way around easily on foot and by underground. Edith even provided us with extra clothing to cope with the cold of the first few days. Thank you, Edith! Your personality and superb hospitality made our Viennese Christmas so very special. I can only echo the comments of the other guests. Our time staying with you is one of our most treasured memories.

My wife and I stayed in the Buddha Suite in September of 2009. It was clean and spacious and wonderfully decorated. The breakfast served was terrific (fresh baked rolls!!) as was the breakfast conversations with Edith and the other guests. Very centrally located-- very close to the trams, buses and U-bahn-- so it was easy to see all the sights. Many cafes nearby as well. And Alex will pick you up or drop you off at the train station or airport at a very fair price! No worries about taxi drivers taking advantage of you. All in all a wonderful experience in a beautiful city!

This past June, my partner and I had the privilege of staying in this fabulous apartment, with the wonderful owner, Edith, who is a gracious, warm, and excellent host. We had the large suite, with antiques, separate sleeping area, and enjoyed every moment of being there. We'd come back and recommend it to our friends.

Edith's property is absolutely wonderful. My wife and I stayed in one suite. My father and my son (age 21 - Uinversity California Los Angeles student)stayed in the adjoining suite. All agreed that this was the most enjoyable property we stayed in during our 20 days in Europe. The location is perfect to walk anywhere of interest, the rooms are large with plenty of sitting area, the beds were confortable, the air condiitoning worked well when needed, the decorations could almost qualify as museum quality - very interesting!! But, what really made the stay exceptional was Edith's true desire to help us maximize the enjoyment of our visit to Vienna. She gave great directions, hints about non-touristy events, and shared stories about the city that helped bring it to life in a very special way. We will definately stay here again, and also plan to explore Edith's other properties in Buddapest and San Antonio.

My daughter and I stayed with Edith last May and she made our trip to Vienna more special. Location is terrific at the edge of city center. Very close to tram and within walking distance of so much. We felt like we were family friends. She and her son also have a B&B in Budapest, which we'll visit next time.

I was In Vienna this summer with my two teenage children. We stayed at this lovely property for two nights and had a wonderful time. The owner was helpful and friendly, and the apartment was comfortable and filled with antiques. Ms Edith took us on a walk to some nearby atractions and eating establishments...she was a great hostess and she made the best breakfast we had in Europe!
Owner response:The breakfast is our many generations' traditional family-habit after morning exercise we eat as a king; sort of light, healthy vegetable, fruit, hot fresh baked rolls, butter/sardine-paste or honey and jam, cold-cuts, soft or hard boiled eggs, cheese, liver-patee, hot or cold cereal, coffee, tea - changing variety on daily bases. KEEP HEALTHY WITH EATING HABITS - was and is our slogan. We are sharing our home and tradition with our guests. This is Edith's B&B
