Antique Cape house in historic Pond Village in North Truro, just a 5-minute walk (0.3 miles) from beautiful Cold Storage beach on the bay side and a 5-minute drive (1.5 miles) from Coast Guard beach - which you can get to without having to get on Rt. 6 - or Head of the Meadow beaches on the ocean side. Longnook beach with its majestic dunes is a 9-minute drive away.
Filled with light and a constant breeze, this 3-bed, 1-bath house sleeps up to 6. Have breakfast in the shade of the grape arbor on the quiet back patio, and at night enjoy your barbecued dinner under the lights! After a day at the beach, come home and rinse off in the outdoor shower. Sit on the front porch and read a book with a glass of wine or play a board game with your family.
The location is ideal – If you wanted to, you could spend your entire time here without getting in the car! Not only are you mere minutes from the bay and ocean, it is a short walk (2-mins) to the Village Café or Salty Market (formerly known as Dutra’s), where you can buy liquor and groceries - and sandwiches when you don’t feel like making your own; the Truro Beach Office, where you pick up your beach sticker; and new Chequessett Chocolate, which has delicious sweets and excellent coffee.
Local favorites Savory Pizza Grill & Sweet Escapes, Box Lunch and Hillside Farms are a short, 3-min. drive away, as are restaurants Terra Luna and Montano’s.
Provincetown and Wellfleet are only 10 minutes by car in either direction! If you want to head to Provincetown for a heady night out without having to worry about driving, the Flex shuttle stop is only a 5-minute walk down the road. You can't beat this location!
If you play golf, Highland Links Golf Course, sited by historic Highland Lighthouse, is a 5-minute drive away (also accessible without having to get on Rt. 6). If you're curious about a little bit of Truro history, while you're there you can stop by the Truro Historical Society.
We bought the house in the spring of 2014 and in fixing it up, have maintained all the character we can while updating it and bringing in modern amenities. Vintage wallpaper is peeling in places.
Some of the back yard was excavated for the new septic, which was installed summer 2014, so it is patchy in areas.

About the owner: Rosy grew up in Truro, locally famous as one of the three sisters selling Hawaiian Shave Ice at a roadside stand. She met Jonathan in Brooklyn in 2008, they married in 2012 and felt the call of the Cape until they found their dream house this year.
Why the Owner Chose Truro: We wanted something very old but in good shape that we could update with some modern amenities, customize to our taste and restore to its original beauty. We envisioned creating a perfect Cape Cod getaway experience we could then share with renters.
The Unique Benefits at this House: The wide plank wood floors, the centuries old doors and details, the classic cozy pantry, late night dinners under the grape arbor on the patio, the front porch overlooking the marsh, the sound of toads lulling you to sleep, the majestic mimosa tree welcoming you home.
