Many Castles is a completely furnished and equipped, "upside-down" house located on the south side of Nantucket Island. Access to Many Castles is provided by a privately maintained road which winds through more than a mile of conservation land in beautiful Madaquecham Valley. This exclusive area of the Island is protected by Nantucket law and consists of only a dozen or so homes nestled among several thousand acres of moors, meadows, and beaches. Yet you are only several minutes by car from the shopping and excitement of Nantucket Town.
Built in 1983 in a style reminiscent of the Federal Period with its hipped roof and ornamental widow's walk, Many Castles is situated to take maximum advantage of 180 degree ocean views from the expansive second level walk-out deck. A broad, sandy, ocean beach, well known by island natives for its privacy, beauty, and excellent fishing is just a ten minute walk down an idyllic path through unspoiled heartland and meadows. Or enjoy volleyball at our backyard court.

- Kid Friendly : Our children grew up at Many Castles. We have a selection of books, games, beach toys and videos for children to enjoy. We have a high chair, port-a-crib and Gerry bed rail for children.
- Smoking Not Allowed : We prefer no smoking at Many Castles. Please, if you must smoke, do so in the yard or on the 2nd floor deck. Dispose of butts property by putting out fully and placing in garbage container.

When I am not busy managing Many Castles and Twin Gables Cottage, I am swimming or practicing Yoga. My favorite activities include riding my bike to the beach, or junking for "Treasure" in Thrift stores and Antique shops.
Why the Owner Chose Madaquecham
Madaquecham Valley is incomparable to any other place on earth. For anyone desiring a pristine, tranquil location a short walk to the beach, this is the place! We immediately fell in love with the valley and so purchased Many Castles because of this unique location. In spite of that "get away" feeling, we are just a short drive to Sconset and Nantucket Towns.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The walk to the beach, the ocean breeze, beautiful blue water and sandy beach views, red tail hawks outside our windows. Did I forget to mention the Atlantic Ocean?

Guest Review from d & l R. - Nov 15, 2010 "Well maintained house with good privacy-great value." We have stayed here for two weeks each summer for the past 17years. This is a very comfortable, well equipped home. It is not a Nantucket mansion but should appeal to those who seek a clean, pleasant home priced fairly for Nantucket. Each year the owner updates/refinishes some aspect of the house. The living area is on the second floor with an open floor plan allowing views to the woodlands and distant ocean. The road leading to the home is a dirt road which discourages to some degree (vs. other Nantucket locations) excessive traffic. The side road on which the home is located is paved encouraging easy bike riding. The beach which is a short drive away is beautiful During the week, there is less people on the beach than weekends but one can always find space without infringing on others This home is an area of larger, very well cared for, more expensive homes. Each family in the area respects the privacy of each resident and never has there been a noise problem or complaint. Again, if you are seeking a comfortable home with many basic amenities and not a millionaire's retreat, you will be very happy at this home!

We gathered on your Island for a wedding celebration. We learned a lot about sharing from this wonderful house called Many Castles. We learned about extended family and got to know each other better as we discovered Nantucket Island. Thank you for a perfect week. PS. The house was great, very well supplied and very, very, cozy.
