Spacious Vacation Home in the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
This beautifully furnished vacation home is located in the middle of the charming village of Glen Arbor, which is surrounded by Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Most of the park's main attractions are less than a three mile drive from our location, and most of the town's shops and galleries are a short walk from our home. We offer five bedrooms with five full bathrooms: four are private suites; each with either a king or queen bed, full bath, TV with cable, phone, and high-speed internet access. Fifth bedroom is a bunkroom featuring a loft system with three XL-long twin bunks and a twin-sized fold-out oversized chair, TV with cable, and DVD/VCR player. There is an adjoining full bath in the hall.
Large, fully equipped kitchen (Jenn-Air stove/oven, overhead microwave, dishwasher). Fridge has wine cooler and icemaker + reverse osmosis water tap. Service for 12 is provided. Kitchen overlooks the great room and a floor-to-ceiling gas fireplace. There is also a 50-inch flat-screen TV (with DVD/VCR player). French doors open to a 10x20 screened porch facing the woods which leads to a large 2-tier deck with gas grill for outside entertaining and additional seating for 12. The house has wireless high-speed internet access in all rooms. Linens & towels provided. NO SMOKING/NO PETS.
Walk to shops, galleries, restaurants, groceries, tennis courts, playscape, Lake Michigan beach, kayak rental on Crystal River, charter fishing, miniature golf, cross-country ski/hiking trails. Great base for exploring the Sleeping Bear Dunes, fall winery/color tours, spring cherry blossom tours, or winter ski weekends. Down-hill ski nearby at The Homestead...30 miles North of Crystal Mountain. walkable to Alligator Hill X-country ski trailhead (hike in summer).

Located in the charming resort town of Glen Arbor and walkable to everything which is important during the summer when parking is at a premium, from restraunts to art galleries, and all sorts of recreation opportunities.
Why the Owner Chose Glen Arbor
We have been coming up to Glen Arbor for years and kept looking for that perfect place for our second home. The place we envisioned just didn't seem to exist so we finally built it! Based on the floor plans of great resorts that we have stayed at, Bearberry House allows for all guests to have their own space (and bathroom) as well as ample inside and outside areas for everyone to gather together. We planned for good - and not so good - weather by having a large screened-in porch as well as an even larger two-tiered deck - both with seating for everyone. Our location is quiet enough to see and hear the wildlife, yet close enough to be able to walk to the grocery store ... and pretty much everything else in town!

Bearberry House is a beautiful, well-appointed house that made our family vacation extra special. The house offered every amenity necessary for a relaxing, comfortable stay. The house was spotless and it was evident that the owners take excellent care of their home. The owner provided excellent service. For example, the owner of the hardware store in Glen Arbor stopped by at the owner's request to make sure we had adequate gas for the outside grill. The location added to the enjoyment. We could walk to the tennis courts, playground, restaurants, grocery store, quaint shops and a putt-putt golf course was only a block away! We went to various Lake Michigan beaches every day--we especially liked the Empire Beach and the area where the Platte River flows into Lake Michigan. My granddaughters demanded to climb the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes each day and since they were only about ten minutes away, it was very doable. I would definitely recommend Bearberry House!!
Recommended for:Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Came to Michigan (first time!) for a wedding near Glen Arbor. The place is awesome. Huge, awesome yard, everything brand new and in great condition. And just behind downtown. Highly recommended.

Our multi family stayed in Bearberry House for an entire week. The house was spectacular; everything shown in the photos on the internet was true and exact. The beauty of the front and back yards with all the many birds were enjoyed by all of us. We will never forget the stay at the house; especially all of us together,laughing and sharing precious time together. The cost was well worth it.

Bearberry House is like coming home to your own Up North home! This is our third year here. The design is perfect with plenty of common space, a huge screened porch, and bedrooms arranged for privacy and comfort for different generations and guests. We all love the feel of being in the woods, yet just a walk (too easy!) to Cherry Republic, Leelanau Coffee and Arts. The owners make you feel like welcome friends from the time you drive up until you leave. A small thing, but we appreciate the kitchen spices and wraps left for the next guest.

Bearberry is a gem! We have stayed at Bearberry twice, and love EVERYTHING about it...it is a terrific home away from home. Every room is decorated beautifully, and the kitchen is stocked with top-notch cooking/baking equipment, which for me as a culinary student is very important. We have stayed at Bearberry both in the Spring and in the Winter...wonderful! We are headed back up in two weeks and are anxious to enjoy the fall colors as we relax in this very special home. We highly recommend Bearberry for anyone looking for a wonderful get-away.

We have been going to Glen Arbor for years and this is the finest home we have stayed at. It truely has all the features you would expect. The suites are wonderful. You can walk to everything! We are definitely returning to Bearberry house!
