Location: Jonestown, Lake Travis, Hill Country, Texas, USA (We say Jonestown, but it's a whole lot closer in.)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 8-14)
Keywords: Floating House
Truly the most unique rental on the lake. It's so unique the Austin Statesman did a huge story on us. Part House Boat - Part Lake House, but so much better than both. And, a whole lot cheaper. A two-story, three-bedroom, full-size house that floats on the water. You’ll love this place - everybody does.
THE LOCATION: We are one of the closest-in waterfront locations on the less developed “North Side” of the lake. 13 minutes to Walmart, HEB, et al. 20 to Mall, 45 to downtown, 60 to the airport.
Our house is the first house inside a no-wake zone on the “Big Sandy” arm. That means you have close access to the main body without all the annoying traffic & commotion.
If you know Lake Travis, you know how hard it is to get to the water. That’s because it is a flood control lake, and you must build above the flood plain. That means the water is either way down a steep cliff, or way out a shallow slope. Not here. Park your car at the shore's edge, and walk down a few steps (or more in a drought) to the house and to the water.
Tie your boat to the side of the house. When you are ready to get-out-on-the-lake, you’re already there. By boat it's two minutes to Cafe Bleu, 15 to Carlos n' Charlie's, and 30 to The Pier.
THE HOUSE: Designed top to bottom for lake fun. The pool table, the indoor table shuffleboard, the underwater fishing light, and the spectacular rope swing (probably the best on the lake -it's that "crane" looking thing in the first picture) are the star attractions, but it’s being right on the water that’s just so... COOL.
Speaking of cool, since the house faces southeast, by mid afternoon, the whole front of the house is in shade. It makes it so pleasant to wile away the day in the cool breezes off the lake. Winter time is great at the Float House, too. Toasting marshmallows in the fire pit while you enjoy the fish light on the deck is a great way to spend an evening.

Un lugar incomparable We had an awesome time! The rope swing was a blast! The fishing light gave the kids a chance to catch fish without really trying. The house itself is definitely one of a kind, everything you need and then some is provided for you. If you want to create some lasting memories, you can't go wrong choosing the Float House for a vacation spot! Hernandez Family

We have traveled and stayed many places, but nothing compares to our Float House vacations. All you need to bring is yourself and food. Everything and I mean "everything" you might want or need for a good time is waiting for you in the house. The design of the house and location if excellent for relaxing and having enjoying your time. You sleep like a baby on the water and the view from the house is spectacular. Fishermen, the 2 lure lights in the water make it one of the best fishing spots on the lake. It is hard to go to bed at night as the fish never sleep. Don't miss this wonderful vacation location.

Best House Ever... Enough Said!

This is the BEST vacation rental I have ever been to. We have rented the house many different times and we have never been disappointed. The owners have thought of it all. From a well-stocked kitchen and bedrooms, BBQ pit, pool and shuffleboard board table, poker chips and board games this house has it all. In the summer the star of the show is the 30 foot rope swing attached to the side of the house. This thing is AWESOME. Take it from someone who has tested a numerous amount of sub-par rope swings… this swing blows them all out of the water. (No pun intended!) The house is also super fun in the winter. My family loved having a bon fire and roasting marshmallows right on the front porch of the house only inches away from the lake and all of the action around the underwater fishing light! If you are looking for a family/friend centered vacation rental do not pass up this opportunity!!

I mean - I can't say enough nice things about this place and the people who own it. We had so much fun! The pictures don't do it justice. It is definitely Kitsch in the best possible sense! We had alot of women trapped in that house and I don't think one argument ever broke out. Credit all the fun activities available at the float house. Start with swimming and swinging and work your way around to the shuffleboard and pool table. There is plenty of room for everyone to have the fun they want! It was quiet and relatively isolated so we were able to just relax and enjoy the early autumn sunshine and it was still warm enough for everyone to take a swim. Ann and her husband were amazing....just the right amount of 'we're here if you need us'. I can't wait to come back and stay...
