Lovely hardwood floors, walls are knotty pine. Casually but beautifully decorated with Heywood Wakefield antiques, seagrass rug, and persian rugs. Reminds me of a set a play set in New England, as the house was built in 1938. (The adult children of the original owner live next door)
Relax in the living room and watch the ocean or walk to the water from the back door. This is a great place to "de-stress", just sit anywhere and watch the water and the sailboats. Watching the sunset from the living room and the lighted Mount Hope Bridge is so wonderful!

Why the Owner Chose Portsmouth
We wanted a house directly on the water to swim, close to the fun of Newport, but without all the noise at night and parking problems in Newport itself.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Just walk out the back door and into the water where we could swim all day. Totally peaceful setting, and the views of the water are so relaxing.

The house is in an excellent location and provides wonderful views of Narraganset Bay. The house is well maintained and is a great place for an extended vacation, with plenty of room. The property description is accurate and complete. This is a beautiful place to experience Rhode Island and the surrounding Newport area. Very convenient to Providence and the beaches in the Newport area. The owners are accessible and the rental process is very smooth. A great location for an ocean vacation; walking the beach, swimming and enjoying the local sights. An easy commute to Newport without the hassle of staying in Newport.

The home was exactly as it is in the photographs. Bright, sunny, spacious and the views are fantastic! The sunset on the bay from the back porch and sunroom was worth every penny. When we arrived the house was clean and ready for us with fresh towels, soft bedding and a friendly note and candle from the property manager with contact information should we need anything. Our children loved collecting shells on the beach, running in the large yard and we loved sitting and taking in the view. It was close and central to Boston, Providence and Newport sightseeing and made a lovely and comfortable home base. We loved the quiet, relaxing neighborhood after a day in the city and recommend it to families traveling in the area.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This was a great place to stay. We enjoyed the location. We spent a week there with our 3 kids and their spouses for a family get away. Very comfortable home. Being close to the water was nice. Very quiet and very little traffic. Neighbors we meet were very friendly. The owner was great to work with. She responded quickly to any questions and provided us with good information. We would consider renting here again.

Thanks! We've really fallen for RI and your beach house. We will miss the views, the sunsets, the wonderful seafood and the fab beaches. Whale watching in Point Judith (Francis Fleet) was excellent. We hope to come back to these parts before too long.

This house had beautiful views but the pictures of the beach were deceptive the beach is full of seashells children could not walk on it. The house has an ant problem and the house is not well maintained. Childrens allergies were a problem due to dirty A/C filters which were changed at 8am when maintenance showed up at the door and they did not change all of them.. House could use a good cleaning, including the windows in which the view was obstructed by the dirt .... house was a disappointment ....
Owner response:We have many satisfied guests including families who return year after year. This is the first dissatisfied guest we have had including families who have stayed there for 4 weeks. This guest also returned for a second week later in the summer. We take all comments very seriously. We make a concerted effort always to make sure things are right. There ARE seashells on the beach as many beaches have. That's why we recommend aqua shoes. The property manager is available 24/7. The property manager wanted to respond immediately regarding relacement of the filters, and left a communication, but the person renting did not get it. She was not happy when they came to do it, but later said to me she was appreciated the concern and rapid response. The house has since had professional extermination (pesky ants!) We will do this each season, and have learned from this comment, though we have never had this issue before. We also have the windows professionally cleaned at the beginning of each summer...we learned from this! The Professional maid service company is always available at the call of the property manager or the guest to address any concerns and will arrive within 24 hours. The house has been cleaned by the same profesional service for several years. They do a thorough cleaning weekly. I have reviewed this with the cleaning service and will be monitoring their performance. We want to improve based on comments from our guests. Please see the comments posted from other satisfied guests, in the past.

This property is the perfect balance of elagance and comfort. A "lived in" feeling but with all the amenities. Our family of 9 and 2 pugs felt right at home. I highly recommend to all! DA
