Portsmouth house description
Waterfront beach house 200 feet from the water, beautiful 11 room home with spectacular views.
House sits on a peninsula so there are spectacular water views from every window. I disabled the map below because it showed the wrong location. You can check it more accurately on google maps.
To check availability, click on the CALENDAR button just above this paragraph, under the photo. RATES: click button right next to the calendar button below the photo.
Lovely hardwood floors, walls are knotty pine. Casually but beautifully decorated with Heywood Wakefield American antiques, seagrass rug, and persian rugs. Reminds me of a set a play set in New England, as the house was built in 1938. (The adult children of the original owner live next door)
Relax in the living room and watch the ocean or walk to the water from the back door. This is a great place to 'de-stress', just sit anywhere and watch the water and the sailboats. Watching the sunset from the living room and the lighted Mount Hope Bridge is so wonderful!
Central air conditioning, four bedrooms ( master is 14 ft by 10 ft with an attached dressing/ bonus room that is 10' x 8, second bedroom is 17' x 10') two baths, two large living rooms ( each 21 ft X 13 ft) gas fireplace turns on instantly, sunroom (16' X 12') large dining room (14' x 12) kitchen, patio. Windows all around the house to enjoy the water views from every direction. Detached 2 car garage. I can email you a floor plan from my office computer if you wish.
House has 2053 square feet, and is on a double lot, which gives a feeling of spaciousness and privacy. The house is on a no outlet street, so no traffic. Ideal for a large family, and the yard is great for children
Our Newport county summer home in Portsmouth. Congressman Patrick Kennedy of The Kennedy's used to live in this town.
Restaurants, fresh lobster and clams, clubs, entertainment and shopping are minutes away.

Lovely Water Views!
Lovely Water Views!
I am very particular about renting a clean house especially like to have clean bathrooms, this house was very clean and tidy upon our arrival which immediately made us feel comfortable. I was pleased with how quickly Helen (the owner) responded to my inquiries plus once at the house we were greeted with a nice bottle of sparkling wine to welcome us and we were given information on how to contact the property manager if needed so always felt like we were able to reach someone if a problem arose. Great relaxing location to begin the day with wonderful water views and to end the day with beautiful sunsets and the Mount Hope Bridge lit up at night. Our favorite part was waking in the morning lying in bed looking at the water with Boats and Birds going by, such a lovely way to start each day. As quiet and relaxing as it is where the house is located you are in close proximity to Newport and the Mansions, Providence, Supermarkets such as Stop and Shop, Clements Marketplace and good restaurants such as Evelyn's in Tiverton, The Moorings and O'Brien's Pub in Newport. When not out sightseeing we spent time walking on the beach in the back of the house collecting seashells. Overall we had a very enjoyable relaxing week at the house, would definitely stay here again to enjoy the lovely water views and quiet location when we next visit R.I.

Lovely bayfront vacation home!
Lovely bayfront vacation home!
The home was exactly as it is in the photographs. Bright, sunny, spacious and the views are fantastic! The sunset on the bay from the back porch and sunroom was worth every penny. When we arrived the house was clean and ready for us with fresh towels, soft bedding and a friendly note and candle from the property manager with contact information should we need anything. Our children loved collecting shells on the beach, running in the large yard and we loved sitting and taking in the view. It was close and central to Boston, Providence and Newport sightseeing and made a lovely and comfortable home base. We loved the quiet, relaxing neighborhood after a day in the city and recommend it to families traveling in the area.

This was a great place to stay. We enjoyed the location. We spent a week there with our 3 kids and their spouses for a family get away. Very comfortable home. Being close to the water was nice. Very quiet and very little traffic. Neighbors we meet were very friendly. The owner was great to work with. She responded quickly to any questions and provided us with good information. We would consider renting here again.

Thanks! We've really fallen for RI and your beach house. We will miss the views, the sunsets, the wonderful seafood and the fab beaches. Whale watching in Point Judith (Francis Fleet) was excellent. We hope to come back to these parts before too long.

My family and I stayed at this home for a long weekend in June and I have to say that it was much more then I expected. I was hesitant to rent someone else's house because you never know how others live but this was not the case. The house was very clean and well kept. I can't say enough about the climate control. I don't like to be hot when I sleep, I like my bedroom like an icebox. I was extremely impressed with the central a/c, the house was not even slightly warm once! It's on a very quiet road away from the highway with a great view of what I think is the Newport bridge in the distance. I've never slept in such silence, it was great! It's also located right in between Providence and Newport so you get the best of both worlds. The restaurants nearby were excellent and grocery stores and department stores were close also. I definitely give this home an all 5's rating. We're definitely coming back again next year! A fantastic time was had by all!!!

About the owner: We have always enjoyed vacations in Rhode Island. My mother's side of the family is from Rhode Island. We love the smell of the salt air, the boats, fresh lobsters, and the beach. I never liked 'driving to the beach', finding parking and lugging all the things. So now we can just walk out the door!
Why the Owner Chose Portsmouth:
The spectacular views really make this house so relaxing. Such a good place to 'get away.' We wanted to be close to Newport but have peace and quiet at night.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Just walk out the back door and into the water where we could swim all day. Totally peaceful setting, and the views of the water are so relaxing. This house has knotty pine walls reflective of the time it was built. It feels very 'beachy.' Cocktail hour in the living room watching the sun set over the water is really special.
