Location: Shelter Cove Villas, Seabrook Island, Charleston Area, South Carolina, USA (Approximately 30 minutes from historic downtown Charleston) View Map
Accommodations: Townhouse Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 4-5)
This may be it-very comfortable and casual waterfront villa located on beautiful Seabrook Island, overlooking a wide tidal creek, expansive marsh, and the Bohicket River. Walk right out the back porch to a crabbing and floating dock with a sitting deck, or overlook it all from the privacy of your screened porch. Enjoying some of the best sights/sounds of the real SC Lowcountry-shrimp boats, the rhythm of changing tides, sand dunes/seagrass/marshgrass blowing in the breeze, the ocean waves, shorebirds, and breathtaking sunsets.
Come slow down, it's peaceful here. Walk along beautiful beaches, ride bikes/horses, and watch the sunset from the comfort of your porch! This is a wonderful spot for refreshment and relaxation.
Stunning views from 2 porches. Spacious villa with smart floor plan maximizing privacy and views, offering bedrooms on different levels, living areas above the bedrooms. There is no other villa above or below you.
First level-master br-king size pillowtop, private ba w/shower, & waterfront porch just off br, great for relaxing in a chaise with a good read. Just a few steps up, is 2nd br/bath, then up to waterfront living area-46" flat screen TV/DVD/AM/FM CD player, and an adjacent screened porch and sundeck. ***Caution small children using TV in living room please.
Next level is dining area, kitchen and half bath. Enjoy fully equipped kitchen for easy relaxed meals at the dining table, or on the screened porch while enjoying the sunset.
As for the beaches, you are just a few minutes bike ride or drive to perhaps the best beaches along the east coast, where you will find convenient access parking areas, and bike racks. At the oceanfront club area, you will enjoy a casual oceanfront restaurant-Pelican's nest. Live music is often provided, and you can enjoy your favorite beverage or meal right on the ocean deck. There are chaise lounges for your pleasure, towel service and 3 pools. You can sit out and enjoy the truly spectacular views of the ocean! Or you can enjoy other sections of the beach by walking either direction around the island to 'North Beach' or 'Pelican/Sunset Beach'. Often, I enjoy parking/access at those areas and sitting out on the beach away from the pools for a complete change of scenery, and then walking to either point of the island. Wherever you go, the beaches are gorgeous!
From the villa, you are just a couple of minutes walk to a private pool, 15 Har-tru clay tennis courts with teaching pros, bike path and an equestrian center. You can rides horses along the beachfront and/or through bridle trails. ***(Advance reservations required).
There are 2 championship golf courses and a fitness center on the island. These are available for your use, as rental rate INCLUDES FULL ACCESS to ALL private club amenities. **Guests must adhere to club's dress code/rules, & pay user feers. Changes in 2009 to dining options, please inquire if this is important.
Kayaking and biking are also fun, rental companies will deliver. A bike/walk path from the equestrian center area takes you directly to Freshfields Shopping Village or Bohicket Marina!
Due to the secure gated community and quiet atmosphere at Seabrook, the 25 mph roads are user friendly for walking/biking and the creeks/river offer a real treat for the adventurer. Just a couple of minutes from the entrance gate, you will find Freshfields Village featuring excellent shopping, grocery/Starbucks/wireless access/book store/dry cleaning/banking. Also, the Bohicket Marina area offers a variety of restaurants/shopping, boat rentals/sunset cruises, and more.
Kiawah Island is adjacent to Seabrook, approx 5 minutes away where you can visit the 5* Sanctuary Hotel with wonderful spa amenities, dining, shopping and art gallery. Other restaurants also on Kiawah, and golf there is open to public. Unlike Kiawah, Seabrook is totally private, with no commercial properties. At neigboring Wadmalaw Island you can visit a tea plantation, winery, and historic picturesque Rockville. In addition to Charleston, if you really want to explore off island, ACE Basin/Edisto/Hunting more sightseeing. Charleston is a spectacular world-class city (often referred to as'Paris of the south'),is approx 30 min to historic downtown...much to see and do around Charleston and the historic plantations/gardens! Of course, staying at Seabrook Island and simply relaxing(what we tend to do)is always our #1 choice.
Whatever your interests, there is something for everyone! Come and see why we fell in love with the most naturally beautiful sea island on the east coast, and then one of the best views on it! As native Carolinians and SC coastal residents for many years, we have frequented beaches from the NC Outer Banks to the Florida Keys and up the Gulf coast, and we believe Seabrook offers the most beautiful coastal vacation, along with the most private/uncrowded beaches.
The island is very lush, you may feel you have entered a tropical island...
The palmetto trees, magnolias and moss draped live oaks are stunning. The healthy beaches offer good shelling, the wildlife is abundant-you are likely to see dolphins, a great variety of shorebirds, and possibly deer and fox. Right here at the creek, we sometimes see dolphin and salt water mink swimming. Welcome to the best of the South Carolina lowcountry!
***CLUB ACCESS Amenity cards are picked up, there is an $11/card deposit charge, which will be credited after the cards are returned. **Club is cashless, charges will be placed on your credit card.

Why the Owner Chose Shelter Cove Villas
Some of my fondest childhood memories were of time spent at my grandparents oceanfront beach house. Later, having lived on the coast for about 20 years, and then having visited most of East Coast.....I think Seabrook Island is simply the most naturally beautiful! When I first walked out on the dock behind the villa, I thought this is spectacular and then I drove to the 'north' beach area, and when I saw the huge dunes, and how wide/healthy the beach was, I said "This is it!" Beauty, peace/quiet, convenience to a most gorgeous city, convenient to everyday shopping/dining needs, wonderful recreational amenities, wildlife, and water everywhere.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhouse Villa
We enjoy sitting on the dock, with morning coffee or in the afternoon with snacks/drinks. But mostly we sit on our screened porch overlooking the creeks and river. We especially love to be out there to catch the setting sun and listen to all the marsh life in the creek. It is teeming with life, and it changes all the time! We have seen dolphin and salt water mink in the creek.
Having a floating dock with deep water access is very special, and provides us the opportunity to kayak (crab and fish) directly from there also.
We also really like the fact that we are about a block away from the bike path, which takes you to the nearby marina and shopping village and also very near the Palmetto Lake. Biking is a most pleasant way to get around the island and we enjoy the safety the 25 mph speed limit brings. When we want our 'city fix', we love to go into Charleston for all it offers.
This is the creek the dock is on, and it leads directly to the Bohicket River.
Owner's Map of Shelter Cove Villas
Hello,
My husband and I both grew up in the central part of the Carolinas, and a beach vacation was always the highlight of our summers. As young adults, we chose to live on the coast and did so for many years, before moving to the NC mountains. We quickly realized we missed the sand in our shoes, walks on the beach, changing tides and many other 'specialties' of the SC lowcountry. So, with both of us having been in the real estate business (combined 65 years experience), we very carefully chose the perfect beach retreat, home away from home, and Seabrook Island had everything we were looking for! We are happy to share it with you, and hope you will enjoy all that is special to this private island. We love our many repeat guests and hope you will become one of them. Thanks for 'stopping by' UP DA CREEK, AT THE BEACH!
Wishing you a memory filled vacation,
Leigh
