This may be it! Come enjoy a very comfortable waterfront villa well located on beautiful Seabrook Island. Overlooking a wide tidal creek, expansive marsh, sunsets, shrimp boats and the Bohicket River. Walk right out the back porch to a private dock with a sitting deck, or overlook it all from the privacy of your screened porch. Access the most special treats of the real SC Lowcountry- the rhythm and sounds of changing tides, listening to shrimp 'pop', dolphins in the creek, sweetgrass/marshgrass blowing in the breeze, changing colors with the sunlight, shorebirds, and BREATHTAKING sunsets. Then of course there is the BEACH!
Come slow down, it's restful here. Walk along beautiful beaches, gather shells, ride bikes or horses, kayak, and watch the sunsets from the comfort of your porch or from Pelican Beach. Its a special place for refreshment and relaxation.
Both porches and living area have stunning views! Spacious villa with smart floor plan maximizing privacy and views, offering bedrooms on different levels, living areas above bedrooms. No other villa above or below, so you have a real sense of privacy, even from the porches. First level-master BR w/king size pillowtop, flat screen tv, private BA w/new tiled shower, & waterfront porch just off br. This porch has ground access, making it very convenient to access dock/water. Like a split level, just a few steps up, is 2nd BR/BA with tub/shower and flat screen tv, then up to the waterfront living area with 46' flat screen TV/DVD/Blu Ray/I Pod docking station, CD player, and a wonderful waterfront screened porch and sundeck. Next level is dining area, kitchen and half bath. Enjoy fully equipped kitchen for easy relaxed meals at the dining table, or on the screened porch while enjoying the sunset.
As for the beaches, you are just a few minutes bike ride/drive to perhaps the best (and totally private) beaches along the east coast, where you will find convenient access parking areas for autos/bikes. Take a chair or a towel to the uncrowded beaches, and enjoy the truly spectacular views of the ocean, river, Botany Island and sunsets depending on where you go! If you enjoy beach walking, explore different sections of the beach by walking either direction to 'North Beach' point or 'Pelican/Sunset Beach'. Both points are spectacular, interestingly different, and often where you will find dolphin playing/feeding. Wherever you go, the beaches are gorgeous!
From the villa, you are just a couple minutes WALK to a private pool at the end of the street, and also The LAKEHOUSE, offering state of the art fitness center/indoor and outdoor pools/ping pong/children's playground/grills and picnic tables/basketball/massage therapy, etc! The bike path and equestrian center are also a block away. Here, you can ride horses along the beachfront and/or through bridle trails. (***Advance reservations required).
Kayak and bike rental companies will deliver to your front door. The bike path now takes you directly to Freshfields Shopping Village, the Bohicket Marina, and over the Kiawah River into Kiawah. Due to the secure gated community and quiet atmosphere at Seabrook, the 25 mph roads are user friendly for walking/biking and the creeks/river offer a real treat for the adventurer. You can launch a kayak, or step on a boat from our private dock! Within 5 minutes, you can be at Freshfields Village featuring excellent shopping, several great restaurants/grocery/Starbucks/book store/dry cleaning/banking. Also, the even closer Bohicket Marina area offers a variety of restaurants/shopping, boat rentals/sunset cruises, and more.
Kiawah Island is adjacent to Seabrook, also approx 5 minutes away where you can visit the 5* Sanctuary Hotel with wonderful spa amenities, dining, shopping and art gallery. More restaurants are also on Kiawah, plus public tennis/golf and a fun Nature Center. At neigboring Wadmalaw Island you can visit a tea plantation, winery, and historic picturesque Rockville. Charleston being the spectacular world-class city that it is (approx 30 min easy drive to historic downtown)...with so much to 'take in', plus the historic plantations/gardens, there is no shortage of things to do, just time! However we often opt for staying at peaceful Seabrook Island beach and simply relaxing is our #1 choice.
Whatever your interests, there is something for everyone! Come and see why we fell in love with the most naturally beautiful sea island on the east coast, and then one of the best views/locations on it! As native Carolinians and SC coastal residents for many years, we have frequented many beaches from the NC Outer Banks to the Florida Keys and up the Gulf coast. We truly believe Seabrook offers a unique coastal vacation: jaw dropping beauty, peacefulness, and all with the most private/uncrowded beaches. There are NO COMMERCIAL entities on the island, once you are through the gate. The palmetto trees, magnolias and moss draped live oaks are stunning, healthy beaches offer good shelling, the wildlife is abundant (you are most likely to see dolphins, alligators, a great variety of shorebirds, and possibly deer and fox). Right here at the creek, we see dolphin and salt water mink swimming. Bring a fishing rod, catch dinner from the dock, beach or lakes. Welcome to the best of the South Carolina lowcountry, you are sure to have a great time!

What a Way to Relax
What a Way to Relax
From my morning coffee on the porch looking over the cove to the pool and beach and then ending the day by watching the sunset over the marsh from that same porch....what a great place. Very comfortable family room where we watch movies at night. Very clean, well maintained and would recommend to anyone who is in need of quiet down time!

Great Villa at Seabrook Island
Great Villa at Seabrook Island
Hi, Leigh, Just thought I would let you know that we truly enjoyed staying at UP DA CREEK last week. It truly is a nice place and had everything to make our stay a fun one. We didn't even use the amenity cards as we always went to North Beach or Pelican Beach. The Club House pool was too crowded for us so we just used the Shelter Cove Pool. We cooked in or ate at Red's Icehouse, Rosebank Farms Cafe or many of the places at Freshfields. We liked Vincents Drug Store and we also loved the availability of the Newton's grocery store. We loved making our own salads there and even got a take 'n bake pizza there one night just the way we wanted it. It was very good. We rented a boat at the marina one day and went tooling around in it to some islands. Went shelling a couple of early mornings and found a complete horseshoe crab shell which came home with us, as well as many other pretty shells. We saw lots of dolphins swimming close to shore in various places. Loved all the birds and wildlife in the marsh behind your villa. Saw a baby alligator at the dock one evening and lots of crabs. By the way, we were driving to North Beach one morning and smack dab in the middle of Seabrook Island Road a mother deer was nonchalantly walking across the road. Then right behind her came the sweetest looking baby "Bambi" looking deer right behind her. They didn't run or jump. They just looked at us as if to say, "What are you doing here?" We took pictures. And we saw many deer in the meadow across the road from your villa when we walked around the path surrounding the new fitness center building. My favorite time was night time, out on the porch, when the wind was blowing pretty good and listening to the reeds singing in the marshes. Such a peaceful and restful sound, it was hard to make myself go inside to bed. We enjoyed seeing the Angel Oak tree also. That was impressive. Would recommend your place to anyone wanting to visit Seabrook and we definitely will look you up on VRBO when we head to Seabrook again. Thanks for a wonderful place to stay on our vacation.

My family and I LOVED Seabrook Island. We really enjoyed your villa. It was very cozy and comfortable. The island was just breathtaking. We all agreed it was our best vacation ever. We will definitely be back again!! The community feel of the island and the marsh right outside our room were some of our favorite things. We had a lot of fun finding shells and creatures on the beaches. Thanks again for allowing us to rent your villa!

Leigh: I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had at your villa. The view of the marsh is just incredible and constantly changing with the tides. My husband and daughter were at the crab dock every day. Your place is cozy, peaceful and relaxing. - Thanks so much.

Thank you for sharing your lovely villa with us this week. Our family had a wonderful time. We visit Seabrook every year and have stayed many places on the island. Yours by far was the best! The pictures does not do it justice. The view of the marsh was breathtaking! The master suite with own deck and view was a little slice of heaven. My girls could not get enough of the private crabbing dock. We could not have asked for a better house plan for our family. We did not want to leave and are looking forward to returning in the spring.

We have just returned from your wonderful villa at Seabrook Island. It was our first time on the island. We were so delighted when we arrived at your villa. It was beautiful, especially the view. We loved the layout of the villa, the pictures truly do not do it justice!! We had everything we needed, the bed was so comfortable and the view was breath-taking. We loved the pool and the crabbing dock. The dock was a favorite with my sons. We crabbed daily and had good catches and were blessed to see tow dolphins swim by. The island was beautiful with lots of wildlife and the thick lush trees with the Spanish moss hanging overhead. Bike riding was also a favorite activity. The best part was for me was waking up and seeing that awesome marsh view and dinking my coffee on the screen porch and watching nature and the marvels of it all! Thank you for sharing your special place. We made some wonderful family memories!!

Our family has visited Seabrook every year since 1981. We love the view from the Shelter Cove area with the marsh, creek, & dock. The villa is our favorite- beautifully decorated and well-stocked. We hope to return soon!

Seabrook is more beautiful than we imagined and the villa was perfect. It felt like our home away from home. The pool near the villa is a wonderful asset and our kids loved walking over to see the horses at the stables. We cannot wait to go back…

We loved this villa! There were excellent views from the patios. We even saw a dolphin from the dock. Everything is in this villa to make your stay perfect. The pictures truly do not do it justice. We've stayed in Seabrook the past several years and this was our first time here. We'll certainly be back!

We had a delightful vacation in the Charleston area and Seabrook Island was a very nice place to stay, it was so peaceful and quiet. We have found that the week before Memorial Day is the perfect time of the year to travel. I'm sure things picked up considerably right after we left. Your villa was very cozy and we felt right at home. I really liked the floor plan, and the view was great. Thank you for letting us call it home for a week. We loved Freshfields Village - Newtown Farms grocery was great for Neil's shrimp needs, but our favorite place was the King Street Grille - we ate there and carried out several times. Best wishes for a great rental season!! Patterson '08

About the owner: Hello, My husband and I both grew up in the central part of the Carolinas, and a beach vacation was always the highlight of our summers. As young adults, we chose to live on the coast and did so for many years, before moving to the NC mountains. We quickly realized we missed the sand in our shoes, walks on the beach, changing tides and many other 'specialties' of the SC lowcountry. So, with both of us having been in the real estate business (combined 65 years experience), we very carefully chose the perfect beach retreat, home away from home, and Seabrook Island had everything we were looking for! We are happy to share it with you, and hope you will enjoy all that is special to this private island. We love our many repeat guests and hope you will become one of them. Thanks for 'stopping by' UP DA CREEK, AT THE BEACH! Wishing you a memory filled vacation, Leigh
Why the Owner Chose Shelter Cove Villas:
Some of my fondest childhood memories were of time spent at my grandparents oceanfront beach house. Later, having lived on the coast for about 20 years, and then having visited most of East Coast.....I think Seabrook Island is simply the most naturally beautiful! When I first walked out on the dock behind the villa, I thought this is spectacular and then I drove to the 'north' beach area, and when I saw the huge dunes, and how wide/healthy the beach was, I said 'This is it!' Beauty, peace/quiet, convenience to a most gorgeous city, convenient to everyday shopping/dining needs, wonderful recreational amenities, wildlife, and water everywhere.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
We enjoy sitting on the dock or screened porch with morning coffee or in the afternoon with snacks/drinks. We especially love to be out there to catch the sunset and listen to the unique marsh/creek sounds. It is teeming with life, and constantly changing. We see dolphin and salt water mink in the creek, bait fish jumping and birds feeding. Having a floating dock with deep water access is very special, and provides us the opportunity to kayak (crab and fish) directly from there also. We LOVE that we are a block away from the Lakehouse, 3 pools, Palmetto Lake, and the bike path, which takes you to the nearby marina, shopping village, and Kiawah. Biking is a most pleasant way to get around the island and we enjoy the safety the 25 mph speed limit brings. When we want our 'city fix', we love to go into Charleston for all it offers.
