The scent of the honeysuckle vine lingers by the door along with wonderful views of moored boats in Richardson Bay and the Tiburon hills in the distance. Sausalito and the Bay Area offer many wonderful things to see and do but it is 7 Marie St. that tops them all! The cottage is comfy-cozy and very quiet, decorated with attention to detail as Heath Ceramics are displayed throughout with some wonderful vintage furniture. Robin and Cathy are warm, friendly and helpful. My only wishes are to keep this "special spot" a secret and to return very soon!

This vintage cottage, with an untiring view of Richardson Bay, is warm, comfortable, quiet and conveniently located. Cathy and Robin, the owners, are wonderful, sincere people make you feel completely welcome. They own and operate Heath Ceramics based in Sausalito and a tour of the business is a must. We stayed at the cottage for the month of July. While we had a car, the walk to most restaurants, food stores and coffee shops was pleasant. The weather was outstanding and perfect for hiking the Muir forest and beach areas not far from the cottage. The Golden Gate Bridge and State Park are very close and the view crossing the bridge awe-inspiring. Make it a point to check out the "Bay Model", Dipsea Restaurant and shops on Caledonia St. During the summer months, the Friday night music in Gabrielson Park is a perfect "taste of Sausalito". On short drives from the cottage, we explored Napa and Sonoma Wineries, Marin Shakespeare Theater and of course the GIANTS. The cottage is a perfect base for runners and cyclists. With Mike's Bikes (rentals and every thing you need outdoors), 1/2 mile from the cottage, you have the Mill Valley/ Sausalito trails and Tiburon trail. You have to catch the short ferry ride to Angel Island for some wonderful history, fantastic views of SF and the GGB. We took day trips to Monterey, Carmel, Capitola and Santa Cruz. We took in some shows at the Shoreline Ampitheater in Mountainview (be prepared to wait in some traffic) and had a blast on the Redwood Canopy tours (Zip lining the redwoods - awesome!) The cottage is so close to SF, we frequently walked to the Sausalito ferry, enjoyed the "big city by the Bay" and returned to the soft, cool breezes of Sausalito as the sun was going down. We would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the Bay area and more.

After staying in this cottage, I will never book a room in a hotel again. Very peaceful, but yet close to all activities. Short drive to Muir Woods, Napa Valley, and to San Francisco. Excellent restaurants close by to choose from, and grocery store if you want to stay in and cook.

We have just returned from a delightful month at this comfortable cottage. I lived in Mill Valley and Sausalito for many years but never spent time in this quiet, friendly, close neighborhood with a locals only vibe (as opposed to being near Bridgeway oh no). Like it much better! Friendly neighbors bur also a great sense of privacy. All that we needed in a small but very well planned spot. 10 minute walk to Caledonia street, which we did every day. Sometime multiple times. Perfect for a couple. Private, serene, BEAUTIFUL bay view from cottage windows. Easy access to wonderful cycling on Mt Tam and Tennessee Valley (a key reason we were there) which my husband took advantage of most every day. Catherine was gracious and most helpful before, during and after our visit. A perfect getaway for two, which I have found a little hard to come by (most are larger). We will definitely take advantage of this delightful gem another time.
Owner response:So glad the cottage worked out for you Sandra, and that the location was perfect. We agree, being close enough to walk but not to close to Bridgeway is great! Hope to see you again. -cathy

I spent two weeks in this quaint cottage and loved every minute of it! Beautiful view of the Bay, sunny and warm part of Sausalito, walking distance to charming Caledonia restaurants + shops, easy 101 access, washer+dryer, fully stocked kitchen, gracious hosts and ...COZY! I look forward to the opportunity to book a mini-vacation here again.

We have stayed at The Cottage several times over the past few years and we always enjoy our time there. I travel to Marin County frequently on business and the location is central to my needs which are all around the Bay area. At the end of the day The Cottage is a tranquil respite when we return "home". I appreciate having a full kitchen as preparing our meals is both economical and healthful; the laundry is a time-saver. This is a lovely cottage for a vacation or as a home base for work.

We loved this cottage! It was a perfect location to walk to shops and restaurants. The welcoming flowers and the decor were exceptional for a vacation rental. It was a perfect size for our family of three. Walking to the Weds. Night Art Walk in Sausalito was a special treat along with the Heath Ceramics factory tour. Thank you for an enjoyable vacation.
