Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
We are Randy and Melody Hulten. We have been married since 1998. We are a blended family with 1 daughter and 3 sons. They range in age from 17 to 25 years of age. Because of our blended family we have 2 sons named Joshua. As if that wasn't enough our daughter married one as well! Our 2 youngest boys are 4 months a part in age and will be graduating from high school in 2012. We are expecting a very busy year on the homefront. We also have a welsh terrier that has us all wrapped around her paw, and always so excited to go up north. Randy is an engineer in the auto industry and Melody has been blessed to be a stay at home Mom but is kept very busy with kids, aging parents and of course vacation rentals. We enjoy doing projects around our home and cottages too. We very much enjoy seeing the excitement in our guests as they arrive and hear or read their guestbook comments of how they enjoyed the lake and cottage.
Why the Owner Chose Hale
Our cottage has been in our family for over 30 years. We acquired it from Melody's parents when they became to old to take care of it themselves. We have always loved the location because of it only being 2 1/2 hours north of our home in Auburn Hills. All our children grew up vacationing at "Thisisit" cottage and still enjoy going (except for the work weekends of course)
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
All our guests that stay at our cottage very much get to enjoy the lake experience because of the pontoon boat included. It is a great feature for families with kids of all ages. The pontoon makes fishing with kids much more enjoyable (we know from experience.) The reason why we include the pontoon is to give our guests the ability to enjoy the lake to the fullest instead of just looking at it. We often have beautiful sunsets to enjoy at the water's edge or on a sunset cruise. After sunset it is time for a campfire and smores down by the water. Our boat also allows you to get more up close to the wildlfe on the lake. We have a small island that nests our loons that often have 2 babies each spring. Hearing them call and sing to each other in the evening or early morning is breathtaking. As of 2007 we have bald eagles as well! We have watched them swoop down and fish themselves. They often perch at the top of our neighbor's pine tree. Randy has taken many photos of them, he has been labeled "obsessed" ! Both the loons and eagles are such beautiful creations. We desire for all our guests to enjoy our cottage as we have been blessed to do for so many years.

What a beautiful place. Our three generation family of 9 enjoyed every minute of our vacation at This Is It. The accomodations are excellent. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything you could possibly need for a wonderful vacation. It is decorated beautifully. We especially loved having the pontoon available to fish and swim and just take rides on the lake. We would highly recommend This Is It to anyone who wants a great place to experience up north Michigan.

Melody and Randy - Your Thisisit cottage provided our extended family with the perfect setting for a magical vacation week. With a superb location on West Londo Lake, and thoughtful appointments and accessories in every room, we were completely delighted. Plus, it had a perfect waterfront, complete with fire-ring and sturdy benches, pontoon boat, fishing boat and paddle-boat and a wonderful swimming and floating area. We loved waking to the call of the loons every morning. Your pontoon boat was teh center of activity for the daylight hours. Everybody wanted a turn, with enjoyable swimming experiences off the reed islands, touring the lake and enjoying the wide variety of very well-kept cottages and homes, and feeling the wind in our faces. The fishing boat was used several times each day by the younger folks. Hearty dinners were followed every evening by happy gatherings around the bonfire blazing int the fire-ring, munching on S'mores and watching the tranquil sunsets. Very good for the soul. We've rented several cottages the past ten years, for our family vacations, and the Thisisit cottage was the best one we've found yet. Thanks again for a wonderful experience.

We stayed at the Lake House in mid September. We had a wonderful time. We cruised around on the pontoon as well as doing some serious fishing. As the oldest and least experienced fisherman catching the largest fish (large mouth bass) was highlight of my trip. The water off dock was clean and clear. One morning my 2 yr old grandaughter and I were feeding the small fish off the dock and a beautiful bald eagle landed just 2 docks over. I had never seen an eagle that close up in the wild. It was breath taking. We also saw a couple of beavers. Inside the decor was really nice and beds very comfortable. We took our own drinking water and would advise this if you don't like the taste and smell of well water. Melody and Randy were very helpful with requests prior to our booking. Neighbors were friendly. We hope to return next year when a bit warmer so we can actually wade or swim off dock area. We highly recommend this spacious Lake House.

This was our first rental cottage experience and it was a great one. The cottage itself was just right for our family. The pontoon boat was a real treat. The lake was warm, shallow and sandy. We had a 2yr old, a 7 and a 9 year old and they couldn't get enough of the water. There was also plenty of room for 3 adult couples. We had bonfires and s'mores everynight. We also liked that the cottage was pet friendly. We would highly recommend this property to any family looking to have a memorable vacation experience.

We stayed at "This Is It' in June. It was a great vacationing spot for us Michiganers and our relatives from Wisconsin. Everyone enjoyed how the cottage was decorated. The use of the boats was great, plus we brought up a jet ski. The youngest in our group 7 month old Andrew really enjoyed relaxing in the water for hours on end. We hope to come back and rent again some day.

A relaxing house and Lake. The boat was something the kids and I enjoyed every day. Lots of great fishing and family time. Not far from canoeing the beautiful Au Sable River and close to the town of tawas for shopping and dining.
