We needed a comfortable, Up North get away for New Year's Eve. This place was perfect. It's right on Glen Lake, and perfectly warm and cozy inside while it was cold and snowy outside. It was super easy to arrive and depart, and had everything we needed. I'd go back in the winter and in the summer.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I have been staying on Glen Lake since 1972. We've stayed at the only places we could afford in the early years. Some places were kind of rough. Now, 40 years later, we can stay where we like. For the past 10 years we've booked several codos at The Homestead. This is better! The Carriage House was spotless and has everything you will ever need to enjoy your vacation or weekend trip. We were on the crystal clear waters of Big Glen Lake. Our boat was moored safely on a teather when not in use. When we wanted to go out in the boat, we brought it right up to the dock for loading and unloading people or our fishing equipment. Each morning we sat on our private deck with a cup of coffee and watched the sunrise. Our only concern now, is that we won't be able to get the weeks we want after people read our review. Today we're booking (2) more weeks in 2013. This is the best rental place ever.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This property is beautiful!! We had a perfect view of Big Glen Arbor Lake from our deck..the Fall colors were spectacular this year! The apartment was so fresh and modern, very clean and comfortable! They had all we needed for our stay,,I just wish we could have stayed longer! We will return in the summer to use the kayaks and bikes that were available with the property! Fred was very quick to respond to my inquiries....We were so close to the beautiful trails in Sleeping Bear Dunes...we hiked a few trails..my favorite was the Sleeping Bear Dunes Trail- sand, forest and beaches to enjoy..Empire Bluff Overlook is another amazing view of the coastline and definitely the scenic drive through the National Lakeshore...our favorite dinner out was at the Funistrada Italian Restaurant,,I wanted the recipe for the Puttanesca sauce and the owner was happy to share some thoughts-it was amazing! This area of the country is amazing and I would definitely recommend a vacation here! we will surely return for more exploring and I have already been recommending this to friends!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The space is spotless and modern and just the right size for a couple looking to relax for the weekend. The private deck overlooks Glen Lake and includes a small gas grill. The kitchen is perfect for folks who want to cook on their vacation and includes a small but powerful dishwasher. The owners are very kind and the amenities they mention are great. We used the fire pit on 4 nights and the kayaks on several days. We brought our own bikes, but theirs looked nice too. Two miles to bike or drive into the main drag of Glen Arbor and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. This place could not be better located! I would go back again without hesitation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Words do not do this place justice! The condo had everything we needed and even a few more things too! Everything was very clean and tidy. Having Glen Lake right in the back yard was amazing! It was so nice to be able to step right into the shallow, sandy bottom, clear water. Very kid friendly (shallow for a long ways out). Here are a few of the things we did on our trip that we'd highly recommend to others. We kayaked with Crystal River outfitters, rented a boat on Glen Lake, visited Sleeping Bear Sand dunes (a few different areas) and did the Pierce Stocking scenic drive! Bring your swim goggles to the scenic drive. It was very windy the first day we went and we couldn't get anywere near the lookout. We went back the following day (still windy) with the goggles and saw everything without getting sand in our eyes! We went to Arts, Boondocks, Cherry Republic and Blackbird for meals. All were great! Thank you Fred and Sara for sharing your lovely cottage with us! We were even able to see the meteor shower from the deck!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
