If you are looking to "Get Away" to an UNSPOILED, UNHURRIED, UNBELIEVABLE place; Our cottage on Beaver Island is it. Imagine a place that has been virtually untouched and unspoiled, that is Beaver Island. For a "Truly" Relaxing nature filled vacation, this is the spot. The Summer, Fall and Winter are Spectacular! Getting to Beaver Island: The first stop is Charlevoix, MI, a Lake Michigan harbor city located approx 250 miles north of Detroit. You can also fly into Pelston or Traverse City airports and connect to Ferry or Island Airways in Charlevoix. From Charlevoix take a quick 15 minute flight or the 2 hour leisurely ferry ride on the Emerald Isle. Either way, it's an amazing adventure!

When you arrive on the island you will find a place that will take you back in time. Slow, patient, friendly and Beautiful! You might want to stop at the Shamrock for a beverage after the ferry ride or take the scenic 15-20 minute drive straight out to the cottage. Our cottage is located on Wicklow Beach which is on the East Side of the Island South of Sand Bay and North of Martin's Point. Distance is measured by time on the Island, most of the roads have not been paved...it's just another way to make you slow down!

When you reach Summertime, the drive in is through a wooded pathway into a vast open area with scattered trees along the perimeter. We have a garage that you will see when pulling in, which is light gray and white and then to the cottage. The cottage has a charming decor with an open kitchen family room layout which includes floor to ceiling windows overlooking Lake Michigan. There are 3 bedrooms each with a queen or full size bed and a full size bath so it's perfect for a family of 4-6. A lovely deck, and a hammock overlooking the lake are just a few of the amenities that adorn the cottage. We do have neighbors so the cottage might not feel completely secluded when you first drive up...But I guarantee that when you step into the cottage you won't ever know it!

Our cottage is available year round, and to be honest fall and winter are possibly better than summer! All the amenities of home are included, you will find it has everything to offer, just bring your clothes and food. We even supply some of that, like coffee, some spices and even a few things in the pantry. The adventure of getting to Beaver Island and Summertime simply set the stage for the perfect "Get Away"!

While at Summertime you might read your novel on the hammock overlooking lake Michigan, walk the miles of sandy beach, take a swim in the clear lake water, explore the island and it's over 100 miles of roads and trails, kayak, fish on one of the 5 inland lakes, roast marshmallows in the fire pit on the beach, admire the vast array of stars, discover some of the other islands in the Archipelego, visit the spa for a massage, play nine at the Beaver golf course,lounge on the deck, take the boat or kayak out, cocktails at Nina's or Donnegal Bay to enjoy the sunset, visit the CMU Biological center, or the 2 lighthouses on the island, Little Sand Bay, Iron Ore Bay or simply do Nothing!

  • OVER THE YEARS BEAVER ISLAND HAS MANY GOOD MEMORIES FOR ME, IT IS A PLACE I CELEBRATED BEATING CANCER WITH MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY I LOVE. I REMEMBER LISTENING TO OUR KIDS SWIMMING AS I RELAXED IN A CHAIR ON THE BEACH AND THE SUN WARMED ME TO SLEEP. TAKING HIKES, FINDING TADPOLES AND SNAKES. LATE AFTERNOON SWINGING IN THE HAMMOCK WITH MY DAUGHTERS, LISTENING TO THE WAVES BREAK AS IF WE WERE BY THE OCEAN. PLAYING CHARADES IN THE COTTAGE -LAUGHING TILL WE CRIED. HAVING FUN SHARING RECIPES IN THE KITCHEN. LOTS OF FOOD-MANY DRINKS. BUILDING A FIRE ON THE BEACH AND WATCHING OUR CHILDREN MAKE S'MORES. AND WHEN THE FIRE DIMMED THE DARK SKY LIT UP WITH STARS WE COULD ALMOST TOUCH. IT WAS HEAVENLY!

  • We had a great time on Beaver Island and the cottage with it's rustic yet quaint feel and gorgeous views of Lake Michigan made our experience that much better. We swam at the cottage every day and even ventured to the other side of the island to swim at Donegal Bay a few times. We kayaked, fished, hiked and visited the shops in town. Visiting The Toy Museum (not just for kids) and hiking in Little Sand Dollar Bay were two of our favorite things to do. Our stay was so relaxing...even with our two little boys (1 and 3 at the time). It is the perfect get-a-away from the busy city!

  • Spent a week in the Summertime cabin early in June. Though it was too cold to swim and too windy to kayak much the week we were there, we had a great time exploring BI. Bring along your mountain bikes for riding the trails and bumpy two-track roads. The cabin was an excellent base for our adventures. Clean, comfortable, well located. Thanks Kelli.
