June 2012 update: Condo has new Refrigerator, king size mattress in master, new mechanism and mattress for pullout sofa, new flooring in both bedrooms and new washer & Dryer in our unit. We strive to keep our unit very nice.
Our condo is located on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach just 4 miles west of Destin. The island is about 1000 feet wide with the Choctowhatchee Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other. This is the only resort with both beach and bay access. Our condominium overlooks the Bay, lazy river and pools. It is one of a few that offers 4 heated pools, and it is the only resort on the island with a 700 foot lazy river (everyone loves this!!). A perfect place to relax in the sun. As an added treat, on occasion you can watch the Blue Angels practice overhead.
In addition, there is a 4900 square foot pool, a zero entry pool (great for the little ones), an indoor/outdoor pool, a kiddie pool, a water spray park, three huge hot tubs for guests to relax in, and an elevated walkover to the beautiful white sand beaches.
Also, we have an incredible 2,500 square foot state of the art fitness center available to all guests. Absolutely the best on the island!! Not only does it have unsurpassed amenities, it is conveniently located from shopping, restaurants, The Fishing Pier/Boardwalk (great place to watch Dolphins at play), Island Golf, The Emerald Coast Convention Center and The Gulfarium.

The Master bedroom features a king size bed, 37 inch HD LCD TV with DVD, alarm clock, and private bath. You will feel right at home with two dressers, two nightstands, table lamps on dimmers, built-in ironing board with iron, and a large closet to place your belongings.
The master bathroom is tastefully decorated with plenty of storage space and includes a built-in hairdryer. The unit is also equipped with a washer and dryer for your convenience.
The bunk room has been designed and decorated for comfort and fun. It has its own 14 inch LCD TV with DVD player and a Sony Playstation II for the kid’s entertainment. Our kids love to play “Fort” in this area. Each bunk is equipped with its own private reading light.
The bunk area has its own dresser, with additional drawers available under the bed for generous storage. The bunk bath is also beautifully decorated with custom cabinetry, Corian® countertops, and a built-in hairdryer.
The condo has a fully-equipped and stocked kitchen with extras such as spices and crock pot for those who wish to dine in. Charcoal grills are available near the Lazy River.
Too tired to cook? Fort Walton Beach and Destin offer a large variety of fabulous restaurants to choose from. Check out our welcome binder which not only lists restaurant dining ideas, menus, and coupons, but things to do in the area as well such as shopping, fishing, golfing, amusement parks, etc.
The living room is decorated with leather furniture and is equipped with a 47 inch LCD TV, DVD, and a surround sound stereo for your entertainment. We also have high speed wireless internet access so you don't miss anything important while on vacation.
The living room and balcony overlooks a beautiful view of the bay, the pool area with lazy river and the incredible lush landscaping. It is a great place to relax and have fun!

We recently vacationed at this property. We had a great time! I was hesitant since we were on the opposite side from the beach however with my 6 year old the lazy river side won out 100%. We still went to the beach almost every day however the nights and afternoons were spent on the lazy river. The room was great! My son loved playing the video games from the bunk bed and I loved the extra bathroom. We will be back for sure!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful condo with our family! We enjoyed the floor plan of the condo and watching movies nightly on the big screen. The view of the bay was nice from the balcony and we loved having the lazy river just below. I was very surprised how very few people were in the lazy river. It was so relaxing! We facetimed many friends and family this view and they all want to visit, too. The ocean was beautiful and clear and the weather was awesome,,,no rain!!! The walk over the bridge to the gulf side wasn't too bad at all, but when we brought the chairs, beach toys and cooler, it was better to drive over. This is an excellent condo with a nice, comfy master bedroom, but if you are like me, just bring your own fluffy pillows for extra comfort. The kitchen was perfect and provided everything we needed for a nice stay. We went to the local Publix for groceries and it had great deals with the best customer service. There is also a gas station next door with yummy shakes! You will not be disappointed with this condo and the owners. They were great to deal with and made the transaction process very easy. We didn't arrive until 1am, but the punch in code made it nice, so we didn't have to bother anyone for keys. Thanks again Lori and Michael! This condo is perfect -- had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay at Destin West . . . as always . . this is our 3rd year for Destin . . . .and the water was so aqua and so perfect -- weather was perfect every day was in the middle 80's. The beach chairs were so handy too! Nice touch! We loved McGuire's Pub . . . this was the first time we got to eat there and we loved it! Also enjoyed the pirate cruise in the harbor and ocean! This was our first trip to Destin-Okaloosa Island and we really enjoyed it. Destin West was a wonderful pick for us. We have a nine year old that loved the lazy river and pool. The grounds were clean, and the pool area was always neat and clean. The workers were out every morning making sur e everything was nice and neat. This condo is on the fourth floor with wonderful views of the Lazy river, pool and bay. I almost wanted to live on the balcony. I don't know if the cleaning crew were in a hurry but if so they need to slow down and make sure everything is clean. Floors were still dirty in bathrooms and down the hallway. My son found toast behind the couch and bugs behind the living room drapes. The furniture on balcony needed cleaning, as did the glass doors. Carpet in bunk area is nasty---needs replacing bad. The mattress in the master bedroom squeaks so bad --it needs replacing also. Carpet in bedroom needs cleaning or replaced. I wore socks on my feet the whole week and they were so black I could not get them cleaned so I tossed them in the trash when I got home. Mike and Lori were wonderful to work with, but the condo needs some freshing up. It was not the platinum condo that was advertised but it could be. The flat screens and surrond sound were wonderful. In all I am so glad to have been introduced to Destin West, but will research further to make sure we are getting what is being advertised.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

December 19, 2011 owner update: The condo has had a thorough end of season cleaning, carpets professionally cleaned, new flooring in the bunk room, and a new king size mattress in the master bedroom.

This year was the third we have spent at Destin West Beach & Bay Resort. By far, Lori's unit was the best! The condo has all of the amenities of Destin West (lazy river, beach access, whirlpools, great sunsets) PLUS the owners have furnished the unit with quality leather furniture and ample electronics. The kitchen is updated and upgraded! If you're looking for a clean, well furnished condo with a bit of home, this unit is it! For the little ones, the bunk room is perfect with full size beds, dresser, tv and game system with plenty of choices. This unit is much larger than the gulfside units we rented before. Wish we had found this unit years ago!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This was our first trip to Florida last March. We truely enjoyed the condo with the big screen t.v., huge movie selection and stocked kitchen! My daughter's especially loved the bunk beds! Being so close to the beach, restaurants and some shops was great. We didn't get to enjoy the lazy river because it was just way to cold but the girls enjoyed the hot tub and some swimming. Okaloosa Island is great !!!!!! It's just off the beaten path, but also just a "hop, skip and a jump" to Destin....... Condo was really nice !!!!!! The picture's are "spot on" !!!!! The pictures of the condo are exactly the way it is...... Very well kept and very clean........... The condo owner was more than helpful with any and all question's that I had prior to going.... I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone who wants to get away and have a great time !!!!!!! There were many things to do in Destin, but for me just getting away, relaxing by the pool and the ocean was really good medicine...... Probably the hightlight of the week was going to "Crab Island"......Just get in the boat, anchor up and relax in the water and the sun while enjoying some nice cold beverages .........I'm ready to go back now !!!!!! :o)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We truly enjoyed this condo. During our stay of 5 days, we could have never left the complex. Our three sons enjoyed the lazy river, playing on the beach, and hunting for blue crabs in the bay. Restaurants were within walking distance, as were a couple shops. This was a clean and hospitable place to vacation and would recommend it to those seeking fun in the Florida panhandle!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We highly recommend this condo! It is nicely decorated, clean and TONS OF FUN!!! Love the big TV and movie collection! The kitchen is stocked with all the necessities! About the owner: Born and raised in Grand Haven, MI on the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan (By the way, our beach was voted one of the 10 best kept secret beaches in the world by Travel & Leisure magazine in 2012). I married my high school sweetheart and we have two awesome boys. I went to college in Texas, and have lived in Memphis, TN for 18 years.
Why the Owner Chose Destin West Beach and Bay Resort:
The panhandle of Florida has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and we fell in love with Fort Walton Beach area. Our condo complex has one of the best beaches, pool areas (lazy river) and landscaping and that is why we purchased a condo here. We have friends who own condos in the area as well and just love to spend time here.
