This stilt house is located in a natural and secluded area known as Horseshoe Beach: Florida's Last Frontier, and the best area to get scallops when in season. The grass flats fishing inshore offers Reds, Trout, etc... not to mention the offshore grouper. There are no better flats in Florida than this area.
20 minutes from Cross City to the West, this quiet little community resembles Key West in the early days, before tourism hit. Horseshoe Beach is a key-like community shaped like a horseshoe with an elaborate system of canals. The canal system offers protection for boats from the wake of the gulf, yet you can reach the open gulf waters 300 ft from the boat dock in the back of the house.
Horseshoe Beach is a place where you can go get away and enjoy Florida's Nature Coast, a.k.a., the "Big Bend". There are several off road trails to cruise in vehicles, bikes, or by foot in which you will see some of the elite wildlife. The activities here are endless, but it's also very nice if you just want to hang out and enjoy the serenity and the key-like atmosphere.
Our favorite thing to do here is pull up the traps in the back dock and boil up some delicious blue-crabs which are available year-round. It is always nice to catch your dinner by rod & reel, by swimming, or by simply pulling on a rope connected to one of the three crab traps tied to the dock. FYI- the boat ramp is one block away and is an easy walk back from the house to pick up your vehicle.

Horseshoe beach is a quaint and relaxing place to visit. Gil's home is bright and cheerful, clean and very comfortable. Had a wonderful time and hope to stay there again. Great fishing!

This place was all the conforts of home and yet it was like a private paradise..The family loved the fishing from the deck and the crabs just out of the water..It is an awesome place to stay..We would recommend this house to anyone who would love to get back in touch with nature..Thanks Gil...

Great value. Neat and clean hide-away, with all of the amenities that anyone would want. Close to Lake, restaurants, and town, yet offers total privacy. Highly recommended.
